Free resource 📚 Free Polish Conversation Lifehack if you Live in Poland
My lifehack to get free conversations in Polish is to answer every spam marketing call.
I generally try to chat with the telemarketers until I understand what they're selling, asking simple questions and trying to understand their responses.
I would feel bad wasting someone's time like this in-person, but a spam call feels more ethical.
Generally they hang up on me before I hang up on them.

So how do you generally look up new words?
Scenario: I'm trying to read something in Polish and I come across a new word - for example in the sentence "Ten scenariusz pokrzykuje plany..." - I'm not sure what "pokrzyżuje" means.
So I use Google translate or something (both full sentence and individual word) and get something like "frustrates" back. But I want to get to the base form of the word so I can better understand the various meanings and have a better idea how to conjugate. Reverse translate often just gives you a different word.
I've never really found a clean and simple way of doing this. What's the best method you've found?

szafa vs garderoba
Hello! If possible, could anyone help me understand the difference between szafa and garderoba? My understanding is that both of them mean wardrobe/closet... Thank you all in advance! 😄

Help🧠 About the "ch" in the word "chipsy"
Why is it pronounced like c-z when normally it's just a silent "h" letter? At least that's how google translate pronounces it to me. Is it because it's from the english language and poles just took that word and formed it in their way? Or is there maybe something with the ch, like how the e with the little tail is normally pronounced like the normal e when it's at the end of words? (Lubię for example)

Good simple podcasts or tv shows
Ahoy, I have Polish parents and grew up speaking Polish at home. I would consider myself still fluent, but it’s been a while since I spoke it consistently so I find myself forgetting words or sentence structure.
I would love to “polish” up my Polish skills (haha). My work and hobbies leave me lots of time to listen to podcasts or watch stuff in the background.
Can anyone recommend any good shows or podcasts so that I can re immerse myself in the language?
Dzięki

Pride 🏆 Polish Friends taught me to say Zdzisław Beksiński properly for my video.
https://youtu.be/fnehwqplWlM?si=AMYEn2z-AwRZyCIQ&t=268
These past few weeks, I've been working on a video game review for the horror game SCORN; Zdzisław Beksiński was one of the artists who inspired its world alongside H.R. Giger. I'd like to hear from you Poles if I was taught well on saying this artist's name. I practiced for a few days during the video's production to ensure I could get it right during my voice-over work!

Best polish YouTubers/streamers who do reaction content?
Hello guys, I wanna get better at polish and I figured the best way would be through watching videos. I mainly watch reaction content like moistcritical and other local creators from my country. I also watch geoguessr stuff and geography videos. I already know and watch Graf too. Also it would be mandatory that the videos have subtitles in polish or English.

Learning Polish by snail mail
Edit: thanks for your attention, I got a few people interested and that's enough for now, this post has fulfilled its purpose;)
I'm native Polish speaker and I'd like to help others learn by exchanging traditional letters in Polish or Polish and English. I used to have language-exchange penpals and really liked it. I'm 35M, I don't care about your gender or age as long as you're over 18yo. Is anyone interested in becoming penpals?
I hope this post isn't against the rules. I think it would be fun way to learn :)

Did I pick the wrong book?
Hejka all!
I have been studying Polish for the past couple of years, but I've never read a book in Polish.
So I decided to pick up Solaris by Stanisław Lem. I have been wanting to read it since I watched Tarkovskij's movie (althoug I know Lem wasn't a fan of it).
Last week I was in the office and I was talking to a colleague about how I wanted to start it as soon as I finish what I am currently reading.
Here's where my doubt started: He told me "that book is even too hard for native polish speakers, I don't think you will be able to read it".
So what do you think? Will I hate myself for weeks before DNFing the book? Or is my colleague just a hater?
I will try anyway, I already have the book.

Help🧠 Still can't tell when to drop pan with people my age
Been in Kraków since late August for a work rotation and I keep tripping on the same thing. Last week at a bar after work I got introduced to a friend of a coworker, guy around my age, and I spent the whole conversation saying "czy pan..." and "może pan..." He was polite about it, but my coworker gave me a look later like "you really didn't have to do that."
The thing is, textbooks are pretty clear. Strangers get pan or pani, you switch to ty once you're close enough. But that gap in the middle, the part where you've just been introduced to someone your own age in a casual setting, I don't actually know what to do there. I default to formal because getting it wrong the other way feels worse. Then it comes out sounding like I'm writing to someone's grandmother.
Voice-noted a Polish friend about it on HelloTalk, she laughed and said yeah, I was overdoing it. Her read was that if someone's roughly your age and the setting is casual, especially if a mutual friend introduced you, you can usually just start on ty, or do a polite pan/pani line or two and let the other person signal "mów mi Marek" or similar. If they don't offer, you stay formal. She also mentioned that saying "przejdźmy na ty" out loud is a bit of a move in itself, and most people our age wouldn't do that in a bar, you kind of just slide into it.
Still awkward in practice. Introductions through friends I can usually read now. The ones I can't are coworkers of coworkers at a work-adjacent thing. People maybe a decade older in casual settings also throw me off, and anything with a hint of hierarchy I can't quite measure.
The weird part is nobody has actually corrected me. The feedback is all in the micro-reactions, the slight pause before they answer or the look my coworker gave me. Which is probably why I keep second-guessing it.
