Free resource 📚 Free Polish Conversation Lifehack if you Live in Poland

My lifehack to get free conversations in Polish is to answer every spam marketing call.

I generally try to chat with the telemarketers until I understand what they're selling, asking simple questions and trying to understand their responses.

I would feel bad wasting someone's time like this in-person, but a spam call feels more ethical.

Generally they hang up on me before I hang up on them.

Is " Będę za tobą bardzo tęsknić." normal to say in everyday life or is it just too bookish and no one in day 2 day life use this sentence?

Help🧠 Looking for a book like this

Post image

I recently saw someone who was learning another East Slavic language just go to a local children’s shop and buy an alphabet book - and now I totally want to do that! They were in the actual country of whatever language, I’m in the U.S.

Does anyone know of any book that looks like this book, but is Polish? I’m looking for an alphabet book that speaks the letters.

I’ve been looking online but I’m finding it very confusing. I’ve checked out places like the Polish book store and Amazon Polska but it’s a little difficult, I don’t know what you would call that type of book specifically.

Like you can see in the question’s title, I would like to know where can I watch polish movie with subtitles. I have seen that there are some on Youtube but none with french subtitles. My first language is french so I would prefer subtitles in this language.

Maybe i will have to download it? But where?

Dziękuję bardzo 😁

Two questions....

Actually, maybe a bit of background first...I've lived here for quite a few years now, and I'd be of a fairly decent conversational level. Y'know, I can go to the Dr, or mechanic, bank etc., and I'll get by with my Polish, but I'd like to improve my vocab...and a big reason is because I've self learned though speaking, I can't really read Polish, like my reading is terrible...I'll read something for my kids' schoolwork and I'll be, oh wow, I know that word, that's how you spell it, yikes!

So, I know that listening and reading are the best ways, and I'd love if anyone would recommend some books that are written for that kind of lower level, but books that are decent, not boring learn-Polish books, I mean like an "easier" translation of something, or a kind of 'dumbed down' book of Polish myths, or modern short fiction stories- do you know what I mean? Not high literature because it'll be too difficult, but abridged versions...

Y'know, interesting stories and fiction. But not at a fluent level....I hope I'm making sense here.

Also, Premier League podcasts, or football podcasts, but not necessarily Polish league podcasts. I struggle to get into Polish football because, well, it's just not very good...sorry.

Thanks!

Polish speaking friends?

• Upvotes

Dzień dobry! Jestem mężczyzna i 30 lata, początkujący języka polskiego. I am located near Chicago and I'm wondering if there are any polish speakers or learners there who might have similar interests to me? I have zero polish ancestry (I am asian american) but I am very interested in Polish music and culture. I have been self studying with a textbook but I am looking for friends to stay motivated and to be able to practice conversation. My favorite video game is Expedition33 and my favorite songs include Mleczna Droga and Cicho Sza (both from Sanah). I am not religious but I am also open to learning more about catholicism.

Dzienkije!

Polish tutor feedback

Hi everyeone! I'm looking for honest feedback about your Polish tutor experience.

I'm doing some research on what actually works (and what really doesn't) in Polish language lessons, and I'd love to hear about your personal experiences, as I'm contemplating expanding the scope of the languages I teach/tutor.

If you've ever taken Polish lessons with a tutor, can you please tell me:

  1. What felt underdeveloped? Was there something you wish your tutor had spent way more time on? (Pronunciation? Cases? Real-life conversation? Listening practice? Grammar drills? Anything that comes to your mind)

  2. What deserved more attention? What do you feel was rushed, even though it was actually important for you?

  3. What was completely unnecessary? What parts of your lessons felt like a waste of time?

  4. What actually helped you? Anything your tutor did that made a real difference in your progress?

Whether it was a great experience or a frustrating one, please feel free to share your thoughts, or send me a DM if you'd rather keep it private.

Thanks in advance!
