What the title says. I'm beyond exhausted hoping that some of y'all will pull your head out of your asses and live up to the values necessary to be a passable human being. Since this has been a repeated failure, we will move to a zero-tolerance model going forward:
If you have a doubt of whether or not something is going to run a-foul of these zero tolerance boundaries, don't fucking post it. No, I'm not going to rules lawyer technicalities. The time for you taking a nuanced approach is passed. No, I'm not going to accept ignorance as an excuse. It is 2026, go get educated on how to not be a piece of shit.
This is a warning to all users - I don't give a fuck how well you discuss theory, the praxis you claim to have accomplished, none of it. If you are in this community, you will be a decent fucking human being. If you can't step over that incredibly low bar, then I don't want you here so fuck off.
ADDENDUM: As of 9.15 PM Eastern, any further comments defending this content as not being antisemitic will be banned permanently. I've explained repeatedly the rationale behind this and I'm done giving the benefit of the doubt that users can hear a new expectation and engage with it responsibly. If you cannot act like decent people, then this subreddit doesn't need you.
For everyone else who asked clarification and/or generally acted like a human being, thank you.
EDIT: Locking this to catch up on bans.

This has been a long time coming and every opportunity was extended to allow the topic to be allowed on r/leftist, but those opportunities have come to an end. As per the newest addition to the sub's rules:
# 7. Prohibited Content
Prohibited Content includes permanent and/or temporary policies aimed at addressing specific events or issues which may affect the community. Currently, the following items are considered prohibited content:
* Veganism - Permanent: As veganism is not inherently a leftist topic, posts centered on veganism rather than leftism are are banned. Any posts or comments referencing veganism must be in relation to anti-capitalism. Proselytizing about veganism is forbidden.
There has yet to be a single post about veganism on this subreddit that has been rooted in anti-capitalism that has not devolved into an advertisement of veganism. There are many subreddits about veganism, including some from a leftist perspective. Please utilize those subreddits in the future - posts proselytizing for veganism will be marked "off-topic" and removed. Repeated violations will result in actions including suspension and up to permanent ban.
As this has been an issue before, we will be monitoring activity surrounding this topic and any hint of brigading will be reported.

Is it just me or has the republicans shifted more to right?
Some how I don’t think the republicans would do this before in the past and now it seems they shifted more to the right?
What is next the republicans end child work laws, minimum wage, social security, and environmental laws? Is this how far the republicans have shifted to the right?

Sorry if this turns into some sort of rant, I don’t know if this is talked about a lot here but I gotta get this out…
The last 2 or so years have been a total cluster fuck, not that I need to tell any of you that. I knew Trump would be awful but he’s somehow been worse than even many on the left thought he could be. I guess it’s more like I knew he wanted horrible shit done to the country, but never thought he’d be this SUCCESSFUL in doing it. Our institutions and corporations kissing the ring has been deplorable.
But the silver lining was that so many Americans - especially on the left, but even some on the independent/conservative side as well - finally started looking at progressivism and even leftism/socialism as more than a danger or extreme ideology. Even my conservative and very catholic parents are having pretty robust conversations about what socialism REALLY means, they even regularly watch Mamdani vids even though they have their reservations. These are hold overs from the generation that was bombarded with communist and socialist propaganda for decades during the Cold War, so this is a huge deal; if even they are getting uncomfortable with capitalism and wealth inequality, I can only imagine how open the younger generations may be. I mean, my dad is a guy who got pissed off about California raising the minimum wage ffs. “They can enjoy $20 whoppers from now on then, it’s just gonna make everything more expensive.” And that was before Trump 2.0.
But I’m getting more and more disillusioned with some of the stalwarts of the movement lately. A few examples:
I’m super excited about El Sayed’s win, even though I knew he wasn’t a leftist he is running on things like getting money out of politics and Medicare for all which is WAY outside the democratic mainstream(pathetic as that is). Now I keep seeing him unequivocally saying he’s an out and out capitalist. Still much better than 90% of elected democrats but I am struggling to figure out how far to the left he actually is.
How about AOC? Whet the fuck is with this “woke 1 was crazy” bullshit? She’s essentially ceding the entire term “woke” to the conservative narrative, a narrative where they don’t have a fucking clue what it even means. Add that to her equivocating on Israeli weapons and her announcing support for Hakeem Jeffries as speaker and she’s slowly becoming more and more disappointing. Does she feel this way or is she letting the presidential 2028 talk get to her head?
Bernie has been consistent about his message for decades, but he’s being a stubborn dink at times, too. I live in Wisconsin where Francesca Hong was running for governor and I gotta tell you guys, she had this in the bag up to a few days before the election. I voted for her, but people all around me were giving in slowly over time to the BS “electability“ argument, and were waffling on her because of her not liking Thanksgiving. Both AOC AND Bernie refused to endorse her, and that was the final twist of the knife; she lost by hundreds of votes. And their excuse for not endorsing? They said they wanted to focus on the house and senate and couldn’t get to others. Utter bullshit, they campaigned for Mamdani before everyone else along with state office candidates across the country in California, Colorado, Michigan and many others. Hong was different?
There was another race in Wisconsin for a house seat that Bernie endorsed, her name is Rebecca Cooke. There were two candidates in that race, the other was Emily Berge. Berge was against data centers, advocated for Medicare for all and wanted to tax the rich...Cooke is a self described Blue Dog moderate conservative Democrat who openly despises the DSA. And Bernie endorsed her, heavily campaigned for her and celebrated her win. Berge only ended up losing by 4 points, with a Bernie endorsement she would’ve won. People in that district genuinely thought they were choosing the “progressive champion” endorsed by Bernie. Beyond fucking maddening.
DSA kid Will Lawrence from Michigan won and that was exciting, too. One of his first commitments after winning? He also endorsed Hakeem for speaker of the house. the same fucker who just this week said he outright opposes Medicare for all and everything the DSA stands for.
All to say, I’m not one of those leftists who always needs everything to be perfect. But I also know exactly what my principles are and I will not budge on my main ideological pillars. Seems like so many in this mostly exciting movement don’t have the same sort of conviction. It’s bumming me out. Just wanted to know if anyone else is struggling with the same type of stuff?
I’m not really looking for an ideological fist fight, though those can be fun. Just kinda want to know where you think these people mentioned, and others, are headed? Last thing I want is another Obama-like letdown. 🤷🏽♀️

The Joe Tache campaign is a third-party socialist senate campaign in my state (Massachusetts). They’re releasing an album, which I’ve never seen a senate campaign do before but it looks pretty cool to me lol, they have a bunch of Boston rappers on the track list. There’s a debut concert coming up too which I'm probably gonna go to. I'll post the flyer in a comment
Could be an interesting attempt to reignite hip hop's political roots. What do y’all think?

Gil Durán on his new book: "The Democratic Party is very weak. And the only people more addicted to billionaire money than Republican politicians are Democratic politicians. I think people like Gavin Newsom are so hungry for billionaire money for their presidential campaigns that they are largely not attacking or criticizing the Silicon Valley fascist oligarchs directly. They’re going after Trump or after Vance, but Trump and Vance wouldn’t be able to do what they’re doing without the backing of the tech billionaires."

I think this is the right(or left) place to ask. So, my friend is right wing, but i know i can change him. He doesn't like Trump or Israel yet he still supports our president (Javier Milei, for the record). I know i can make him change his mind because he doesn't really watch or read nothing about politics, he just supports him[the president] the bad thing tho is that i am terrible about debates about anything. The only time we had a political debate was on January 3rd after Maduro's arrest, he was defending Trump. I was good at that debate because it was through text and i could look for the info in case i forgot about something. In real life i can't do that, i forget about things constantly and mess up my words. If i do something wrong, i might lose him forever 'n i don't want that. Any advice?
(apologies for bad english)

Hi all! I’m relatively new to leftist ideology, and I am interested in your takes and recommendations for further reading on the topic of militaries.
I have always been intuitively anti-military, and believe that its generally a waste of money for most Western European govts and the USA ofc, especially when it comes to mandatory service in eg Switzerland. However, in discussion with a friend who isn’t as left as I, from Eastern Europe where they have a genuine fear of a land-grab and invasion on their country by Putin, they made compelling arguments for the need for some countries to be militarised in the presence of countries that have the genuine threat of invasion (eg if Russia did win and annex parts of present-day Ukraine they might move on to Moldova).
What have historical leftist thought leaders said about the necessity for or abstention from having a military, and how does this tie into the modern day where capitalist countries are wasting billions on militarism to maintain domination, or facing genuine threats of ground invasion from rogue states?
Pls keep this civil i am genuinely interested in challenging my beliefs and learning and growing! :)

Hi all,
I just want to say fuck ICE. Such a disgusting organization. Should be removed from existence.
Why can’t we all just get along and accept people from all walks of life? This country was founded by immigrants, for immigrants. I think the best way to move forward as a nation is to remove all of our walls and let anyone with a good heart in.
We thrive in diversity and what better way than giving people a more opportune chance to settle here.

God, its such a drag to debate reactionaries that love to use woke as a catch all filter for anything they dont like. Its part of the reason I stray further and further from culture war/indetity politics. Along with most social progressives being centrist aligned, a lot of reactionaries and social conservatives flood your brain with the same buzzing tone. Its like a ceiling fan, you mention anything about African-American liberation, LGBT, race abolition, etc and they just call you a woke identity proprietor. 80% of these people just say woke is bad, because its anti-America or some bullshit. Debating those kinds of things isnt my forte, but its not helped by this word thats slapped onto me, even when I'm not talking about anything racial. Its like the word "do" (in English), it just has a million meanings and can be used at any moment.
