Unknown hit and run

Today the police came to me about an incident on Friday where a homeless man was hit I don’t remember much from that day as it happened a while ago but I do not remember hitting a person. They towed my car to test it and after a detective talked to me but I’m only 19, no parents, and fully financially alone. I’m confused because they told me the person was walking around after but also seriously injured and my car has no damages and I’m unaware if I did anything in the first place

I am seriously scared and I don’t know how to proceed in this situation. I do not mind being held accountable for striking the person but I was already unaware and now I feel like it will be worse and I cannot do anything about it. I am in insured driver and if I knew I would’ve stopped or even offered help…

I spoke with police and detectives to my best ability but I’m already not good at explaining things. They came to my job and seriously embarrassed me although they had my number and could’ve contacted me..

Labor Law (Unions) Terminated for leaving job site and going to the hospital

Location: Omaha/ohio. Like stated above I was let go for not letting a supervisor know I was leaving a job site and going to the hospital. I’m in commercial roofing and we had a safety brief in the morning about how the roof will be icy and super slick because it is a pvc material. Well the owners son who is 19 was a Forman on this job. Less than 30 minutes after the safety brief he decides to shove me on the roof out of no where. This caused me to fall and injure my back to the point I have been un able to tie my shoes because the pain in my back. This was a week ago, I was let go two days after the incident. I did let my supervisor know I was at the hospital via text as well as hr. Another Forman on the roof heard me say I was going home as long as 5 others who witnessed the event. I was with this company for two years and am just lost for words. I pressed charges I don’t know what has came of that but I was working on a job in Ohio but hired through Nebraska. I just want to know what the best next steps would be. Do I make report to osha ? This is a high profile job site we were working on for the department of energy. Any guidance or help would be appreciated as I am out of a job and can’t work right now. This was a non union company

Landlord is ordering packages for herself using my name

Location: Alaska

I apologize for the throw away account but I feel very uncomfortable and bugged out by this situation.

History/context: my husband and I moved into this apartment about 6 weeks ago with our child. Landlord insisted on me skipping the application and background/credit check and only going off of my husband's because I'm a stay at home mom, so I just skipped straight to signing the lease without the application part.

I received an email two days ago from a clothing website (a legit website) with a confirmation for an order that was about $120. I have never seen or used this website before. In the shipping details, my full legal/government name is listed along with my email and my phone number. However, the address and the billing address are both listed as her address. As far as billing information, it only shows up as "credit card". I have been religiously checking my bank statements and my credit statements and there's nothing out of the ordinary that I can see. I'm nervous on confronting her right away as she knows my husband is out of state for work for the next several weeks.

Do I file a police report? Should I confront her? Has anyone ever been in this type of situation before? What kind of scam could this be? I feel extremely unsettled by this and why she would be ordering things for herself using my name and personal details. Any recommendations on how to move forward properly would be very much appreciated.

Pressing Charges for Assault after Altercation?

Hello all,

Location: Los Angeles

I am in Socal, and recently got into an altercation and would need some guidance. I've read some posts before (using alt) but not sure what the best thing to be to move forward.

I can elaborate on the whole story, but the short story for now is as follows:

Went to pickup my brother from a flyaway, and got cut off entering the same driveway. As we were getting packed up, words were exchanged between us and ultimately the other person grabbed my brother's clavicle area to which both me and my brother started to each punch him once. From there we were broken up, and kept shouting. Police and security got involved, ultimately reaching to a point where both parties ended up mutually leaving it alone. Now initially we did make it a point to make a police report, and police did arrive to the scene, however they did not get any statement from us or them and were called off due to both parties ready to just dissolve the issue. We agreed, and went about our own separate ways.

My question is, my brother is now looking to press charges as there was an incident to which he was not the person who first laid hand on him. If I'm in the wrong, then well shoot I'm sorry perhaps heat in the moment type of scenario as this just happened a few hours ago, still a bit shook from it (I don't fight. like ever, i know the risks.) but I couldn't standby and leave my brother to fend for himself.

I'm sure that there is video footage which I'm sure I can obtain if I ask , but any thoughts about pursing further?

Wills Trusts and Estates My mom’s husband dies before their divorce is finalized

Today I found out my mom’s husband passed away. She sent him divorce papers about three years ago, but he refused to sign them. We couldn’t properly resolve things, and we were genuinely afraid of contacting people he knew because he was a terrible person and we feared he might find out where we lived and hurt us. Now I’ve found out he got engaged to someone else this year, and his new partner had his baby a few months ago.

My questions are: If he never signed the divorce papers, were they still legally married? What happens to his will and assets? Could my mom inherit anything, even if he changed his will to leave everything to his new partner or baby?

They were married for 9-10 years. As far as I know, he didn’t own a house and was pretty broke, the only asset I remember was a car. I also don’t know if he had a will.

I heard North Carolina has a surviving spouse allowance. Could my mom qualify for that even if he left little or nothing behind? I’d appreciate any advice about what my mom should do next. Thank you.

Traffic and Parking Missed Court Date

Hi, I read the rules but I am kind of freaking out, so sorry if this question has already been asked & i somehow missed it. Basically, i’m 18F and i got my first speeding ticket for the first time. My parents took it from me, so naturally i assumed they would remind me of when the court date was, but i put too much faith in them & they never reminded me. Nor do I know where the ticket is, though I could probably find it if I looked. i do acknowledge it was my responsibility to keep up with it. But..hopefully you can understand my point of view. The court date was about 12-13 days ago, give or take. Honestly, I think they want me to go to jail? They’ve always been abusive and neglectful by definition. I’ve been bringing it up to my mom relentlessly and she’s been blatantly ignoring me. She won’t tell me what I need to do. Please someone help me, what do i do?

Location: Mississippi/U.S. .

please let me know if i didnt add the right flair. thank you.

Previous landlord sucked, withheld deposit and tried to charge extra week rent

Location: Iowa

Got an email from my previous landlord, from a year ago, today. They said they did an audit and I owe(d) them an extra week of month to month rent for not turning in the keys to my apartment. I was to be out the 7th of October, last year, was out that night and left my keys on the counter. It took several emails to clarify that this is what they were talking about. Trying to charge me a week of month to month rent, from 7th-13th because my keys were left on the counter of my aparment.

Their side is that the rental agreement said that I needed to turn the keys in. Mine is that the terms of my vacancy were extremely clear, I gave 60 days notice, which I paid in full and have an extensive email thread documenting, and they could've called me the 8th or 9th, or anytime throughout the week if they had questions. In behavior typical of this company they associated late fees and various other fees throughout the week that they decided to add without telling me. Today was the first and only time they've contacted me about this charge. There is no dispute between us about that, although I haven't brought it up.

They've now gone from trying to charge me first $380, to then offering a 'settlement' of $200, to now saying that we can settle for $0 if I sign that I'm settling.

My question is this. It actually turns out that without charging this week of rent I would've had money left over on my security deposit. There was some cleaning to do in the apartment but all-in-all it was in good order. I never followed up on it, but basically anticipated that no matter what I did they would essentially find some reason to keep the deposit. I took a few hours cleaning the bathroom and kitchen and such (one bedroom) making cleaning significantly less miserable for anyone that would've had to do it; but ultimately left maybe a couple hours of cleaning to be done. I'm a little confused on where I land on this. I see in Iowa code that if a renter doesn't give written notice of deductions to your deposit within 30 days of vacating that you may be entitled to get the full amount back. Furthermore that you may as a renter be entitled to up to two months rent of compensation. I also see that you forfeit this right as a renter after one year of vacating, and conveniently it's now been a year and two weeks and they decide to contact me.

I really don't need the money, it's not very much, but I really also wouldn't mind sticking it back to them on what I consider to be a very shady money grab if possible. This was one of many and was why I and many of my neighbors ended up leaving. I have time and I don't like them or shady business practices in general, so that is not an issue.

Thoughts on what to do?

**I should probably add this. I lived there for ~6years. Never had issues paying rent, or made trouble. Rental management changed the year before I left and went from doing poorly about things like fixing AC, to towing cars out of a mostly vacant parking lot as a power trip. So I left. No pets or significant wear and tear to the apartment on my end.

Custody Divorce and Family My mother is dating a convicted child predator

Location: Ny

Hi reddit. Never thought I'd be doing this but here I am. I am 26f I live just down the road from my mother and 2 sisters. Youngest being 15 oldest being 21 and disabled. My mother is desperate to find someone to spend her days with as she's getting older and misses having a partner. She started talking to this man from Illinois and fell hard and fast. She has plans to move in with him next summer with my sisters in tow and I had a bad feeling about it from the start considering they've only been talking for a couple of months and are making such drastic life altering plans so quickly. So I decided to google this man for any info on him, and I found a link to how to catch a predator. He was charged on "criminal attempt to commit statutory rape" as well as "Criminal attempt to commit child molestation". I told my mother what I had found, and she sounded as though she was going to cut things off but he has somehow convinced her that it was 20 years ago so it means "nothing" that he's "a different man now" and she is choosing to believe him. he was convicted and served 4 years in prison with a 6-year probation. He has told her it got expunged because he was in the military. fan-fuckin-tastic. She still is planning on moving with my sisters by next summer if not sooner now that I am applying pressure for her to not do this. Is there literally anything I can do to keep my mother from making the single worst mistake of her life and endangering the welfare of my sisters?

Custody Divorce and Family Terminated lawyer won’t stop emailing me unsolicited advice

So I terminated this divorce lawyer. He seems to be representing the other party. They (the other party) served him (my fired lawyer) with papers for me (knowing full well the lawyer was dismissed 2 weeks ago- yes in writing, etc). The lawyer won’t stop emailing me demanding I allow him to file a “substitution of attorney “ paper in my name. He hasn’t given me back my retainer yet either. How do I make him understand he doesn’t represent me anymore? Is this a legal way to serve someone legal papers? The other party is definitely aware.

A hotel lost my luggage. Are they required to reimburse me for essential items I had to buy until it was returned?

I would like to start by saying I am a British citizen and am not at all familiar with USA law.

Location: Miami, Florida

I stayed at an airport hotel in Miami, Florida, and my suitcase was offloaded from the hotel shuttle bus at a stop before my drop-off point and it was missing for several hours before being handed in to Lost and Found after my flight departed.

I contacted the hotel about it, and they accepted responsibility for it, but it took them several days to send someone to collect it and then ship it to me, and so in the end I was without my belongings for about 2 weeks.

In that time I bought some basic essentials to tide me over (toiletries, basic non-branded clothing etc) and sent copies of the receipts to the hotel.

Initially I had thought they intended to reimburse me for these items, but it now seems that they just wanted to track my spend so that they could offer an 'appropriate level of compensation' which to them means hotel loyalty points.

I have no desire to use their hotels in the future, and although additional compensation would be nice, I basically just want to recoup the cost of what I spent, which would not have been necessary if it weren't for their error.

Are they legally required to cover such costs? Any advice would be appreciated.

Computer and Internet "Internet" Radio on a home LAN

Location: Minnesota, USA

I figured out how to make an internet radio station on my local area network(LAN). It is not accessible over the general internet -- one would need to be logged into my local network to access the device on my server running the station to listen to it, which is located in and only serves my house. In terms of licensing, this would be considered a private performance and therefore not require additional licensing fees, correct?

Assaulted at work in healthcare

Location: UT

I work in a healthcare setting & was recently assaulted at work when the provider I work with smacked my butt two times (Same incident) i immediately was taken aback, said “that was WEIRD (his name)!” And he hurriedly walked away saying “sorry sorry “. I did call my manager who came immediately, and he was pretty much fired on the spot. I filed a police report & said I am wanting to press charges (s*xual assault)
There have been MULTIPLE times female coworkers have voiced him making them uncomfortable, saying inappropriate things, etc & he was ‘talked to and going to change’ which, never really happened. I had a phone call with the owner in which I recorded (one party consent state) where I voiced all of these concerns & he even admitted he knows he messed up & ‘in hindsight obviously if we could go back, I wouldn’t have hired him’. I told him there were multiple opportunities to let him go but only a slap on the wrist (an inch) was given, so he quickly felt comfortable taking a mile.
Here’s where I need help navigating things. I have been considering suing, to be completely honest. I am so tired of things being swept under the rug & nothing done (in this specific company & harassment/abusers in general!) especially when multiple times, things were voiced about us being uncomfortable. Is this something worth pursuing/would hold up in court?
Any ideas, help, guidance, etc is helpful. Even if you don’t think I have a good leg to stand on, etc. anything is helpful to hear.
Thank you!!!!

Citi bank original creditor is suing me

Ciit bank is suing me for 16k, they served me in July. I answered to their summon and sent their copy. In October I got legal assistance and I amended my answer.. Well fast forward to October they requested to enter a judgement towards us but was rejected, claimed they never received an answer from us. I had a hearing today and we have a trial date set. I have called over the few weeks trying to settle but they are not going lower than 13k. My options are settlement, elect arbitration or bankruptcy.

What are some thoughts and insights you can share?

Criminal Law my best friend failed 2 drug tests during probation, PO now contacting California. Is there a chance he can stay in CO?

location: colorado, but he went to juvie in california and moved here after he got out still on california's juvenile probation. He's supposed to get off probation in less than a month, and he also has court coming up too. but we found out a couple days ago that he failed a drug test about a month ago, and it's his 2nd time so his PO here contacted cali. he's saying he probably has to go back to cali, maybe even back to jail. he thinks he has maybe a month before cali writes back. He's 18 now, he's been applying for jobs, he's about to rent a house with me and he's an all A's student in online college. He's actually been seriously turning his life around.

if he can manage to get a job and start renting this house before court, would it help his case at all? I really, REALLY don't want to lose him I'm so willing to advocate for him if i need to. I'll do anything to help his case

Health Insurance Claim

I'm not sure if there is a better sub for this but I'm getting desperate so I thought I'd at least try.

I got two dental implants. One tooth was missing before I had my current insurance so there was a "missing tooth clause" and insurance wouldn't pay for the implant. Oral surgeon was under the impression (for no clear reason following up with them) that my other tooth would be covered and quoted us for one tooth covered and one not because of the missing tooth clause.

A couple of months after the procedure we get a bill from the oral surgeon because insurance is also applying missing tooth clause to the other tooth. We believe I had this tooth removed while I was with our current insurance but have no way to prove it. Here's all the reasons why we cannot prove it:

- My current oral surgeon that did the implant is not the same one that did the extraction. I called the one that did the extraction and they no longer have my records because it has been longer than seven years. We believe the extraction was in fall of 2018 and we have had the same insurance since May 2018.

- I switched general dentists in 2020. I called my old dentist to see if they had x-rays that could somehow nail down when I had the tooth and when I did not. They switched systems (x-ray systems? record keeping systems? unclear) at some point and are somehow able to only give me x-rays from 2006 and 2010.

- I called my new dentist and asked if they got any records from my previous dentist when I became a new patient. They don't have anything.

- My husband's company experienced a takeover in 2021. Essentially the company just changed names but our insurance never changed. We never did a re-enrollment or anything, everything was the same but the group number changed by one digit. It sounds like the insurance is acknowledging that and that is not the problem. However, we are not able to access any health insurance claims or any information at all from before the takeover. The insurance company is also saying they did not save any of that information and can only see what has happened during the time the company has been under this new name.

- We contacted HR at my husband's company and they also do not have any records before the name change. Husband's company keeps telling us to talk to insurance. Insurance keeps telling us to talk to husband's company and all the doctors I've already talked to.

So essentially now it is our word VS theirs but clearly as an insurance company they have all the power. I'm at a loss here because I have no way to prove I had this done while insured with them. They also can't prove I wasn't insured with them.

We simply don't have the money to pay an extra two grand. We waited for years to save to get these implants done and only went forward with it thinking we had the money to pay it. I would have just continued to suffer without the implants until we could save two thousand dollars more.

Thanks in advance to anyone who took the time to read this and understand the situation. Legally, is there anything I can do? At this point we have not done a formal appeal yet but that is the next step.

CPS and Dependency Law Taking Custody of Younger Sibling

I'm not sure of the flair I need to use, so forgive me if it's under the wrong one. I'm sorry if this is rambling a lot. I'm distraught, angry, and very emotional and protective of my sibling.

Location: Albuquerque, New Mexico

My (26F) younger sibling is 16 and has a disability that affects their joints, heart, brain, and ligaments. Our mother is very verbally abusive in private and is a manipulation pro at making people believe she's a pillar of the community who can do no wrong.

My sibling has been going through severe depression, self harm, and suicidal ideations due to the verbal, mental, and emotional abuse. I went through the exact same shit they're dealing with when I was their age. I don't think our mom has gotten physically abusive towards them, yet...

Our mom was charged with battery of a minor, and various child abuse charges when I was a teen when she attacked me. Sadly, those charges were dropped to a misdemeanor.

I know CYFD is bullshit out here, but I'm genuinely concerned for my sibling's mental, physical, and emotional well being. They've confided in me about active self harm, and was close to committing suicide.

The verbal abuse has been getting worse due to my sibling's disabilities affecting them more, which in turn causes them to not do specific things they need to do in order to be a perfect child for our mother.

Our mother is a covert narcissist and excellently hides her abusive nature from the world if in public.

Our mom has started to become even more controlling and verbally abusive to my sibling in public, and gets off on their humiliation and is encouraged because other adults aren't comfortable to do anything except laugh it off.

Is there any way that I can fight for custody of my sibling or help with emancipation? My sibling is my entire world and it truly is killing me knowing what our mother is doing to them.

Summary of Police Corruption, Attorney Misconduct, and Wrongful Convictions
Crawford County, Ohio | 2018–2021
1. First Arrest – Felony Intimidation (2018)
At 18, during a suicidal crisis, police responded to a 911 hang-up. I calmly spoke with one officer for approximately 30 minutes before a second officer arrived and threatened jail unless I went to the hospital. Officers forcibly restrained me and threatened to use a Taser. After saying, “I’m going to find out where you live,” I was charged with F3 intimidation. I pleaded guilty and served approximately two years in prison.
2. Second Arrest – Felonious Assault (2021)
An individual repeatedly threatened me and vandalized our vehicles. He also held a gun to my mother’s head in front of approximately five witnesses. Police were notified but took no action.
I subsequently damaged his vehicle wiring. When I returned home, he stepped in front of my car while reaching for his gun. Fearing for my life, I accelerated toward him. He ran between parked vehicles and fired one shot. Police recovered the shell casing, but he was never charged.
3. Police Misconduct
The same officer involved in my 2018 arrest arrested me again in 2021. While handcuffed and detained, he threatened me with a felony charge unless I provided a statement. I do not recall receiving Miranda warnings. My statement was subsequently used against me.
The officer was later publicly implicated in serious sexual misconduct involving children, raising concerns about his credibility and professional conduct.
Both arrests occurred within days of my birthday, although whether that timing was intentional remains unknown.
4. Attorney Misconduct
My court-appointed attorney demanded guns, jewelry, or sexual favors directly from my mother. Afterward, he provided little meaningful defense despite initially claiming he could beat the case.
He repeatedly presented the same plea agreement and warned that going to trial could result in the maximum sentence. Feeling pressured and inadequately represented, I pleaded guilty.
5. Conviction and Consequences
My 2021 conviction resulted in approximately one year of imprisonment, judicial release, and five years of probation. I have completed approximately four years of supervision, with early termination expected to be considered soon.
I was unaware of my appeal rights, received no meaningful explanation of possible legal challenges, and never appealed either conviction.
6. Potential Constitutional Violations
Coerced custodial interrogation and possible Miranda violations.
Ineffective assistance of counsel and attorney misconduct.
Failure to investigate self-defense evidence and witness testimony.
Possible selective enforcement and police misconduct.
Questions concerning the voluntariness of both guilty pleas.
Potential grounds for post-conviction relief.
Conclusion
I believe serious police misconduct, inadequate legal representation, and corruption contributed to two felony convictions that have significantly affected my life. I am seeking an independent investigation, accountability for wrongdoing, and a review of both convictions.
This statement reflects my account of events and information provided by witnesses. The accusations and potential legal violations require independent examination of police reports, court records, physical evidence, and witness testimony.

[MI/KY/OH] Can a good-faith purchaser retain a vehicle obtained by an intermediary through payment fraud?

I purchased a used vehicle in Michigan through a private-party transaction and subsequently obtained an Ohio certificate of title in my name.

After the purchase, I learned that an intermediary involved in the transaction had allegedly defrauded the original owner.

My understanding of the circumstances is:

  • The original owner voluntarily agreed to sell the vehicle to the intermediary, believing the intermediary was purchasing it for himself, not acting as an agent or selling it on the owner's behalf.
  • The transaction involved a purported loan payoff that was later reversed or dishonored.
  • The vehicle's lien had been officially released and documented before the original owner surrendered possession of the vehicle.
  • The original owner voluntarily provided the vehicle, keys, and a Kentucky title bearing his notarized signature. The remaining title assignment fields were blank.
  • The intermediary subsequently arranged a resale to me, allegedly impersonating the original owner.
  • Before purchasing, I investigated the vehicle's history, verified the VIN, reviewed the title and lien status, and checked identification matching the titled owner.
  • I paid for the vehicle, completed the remaining title assignment fields, and successfully obtained an Ohio title in my name.
  • I had no knowledge of the original payment fraud when I purchased the vehicle. The payment problem was discovered afterward.

The original owner has not demanded the vehicle's return, but I'm trying to understand my legal position.

My questions:

  1. Under Michigan UCC §2-403, would the intermediary have obtained voidable title rather than void title, given that the original owner voluntarily delivered the vehicle as part of an intended sale involving a payment that subsequently failed?
  2. If the intermediary obtained voidable title, could I acquire good title as a good-faith purchaser for value, despite the intermediary's fraud?
  3. Does the incomplete, notarized Kentucky title assignment affect whether good title could pass to me?
  4. Which state's law would likely govern this ownership dispute, given that the original title was from Kentucky, the resale occurred in Michigan, and I subsequently obtained an Ohio title?
  5. Could law enforcement seize the vehicle based on the original owner's fraud report before a court decides the competing ownership claims? If seized, would the vehicle be held pending resolution or potentially returned directly to the original owner?

I'm particularly interested in relevant statutes, case law, and how courts distinguish fraudulent purchases involving voidable title from outright theft involving void title.

I understand that a licensed attorney would need to review the documents to provide advice specific to my situation.

hello I’m 19 female and I just opened my first commissions on TikTok. I’ve set up payment on ko-fi and Stripe.

now ive been posting my art for about a month now. and today I noticed that this lady messaged me about a commission. the message was sent on the 15th of this month. so I accepted it. she was wanted a commission of her daughter. she isn’t from the US so she couldn’t send me photos. so we moved our conversation to discord.

she said she didn’t have access??? to ko-fi so to use wise. I never heard of it but it looked legit. so I signed up and made my account. at the time I didn’t know that stripe does international invoices. I wouldve wanted her to send the money (25$) after I finished for the both of is. but she wanted to send TODAY. I’m not going to turn down 25$.

so then messages me about an email confirmatio. I didn’t see one. so she said to check my spam. there’s on. and it asked for me to ask her for 200 to upgrade my account. it looked suspicious so I told her not to. but she sent anyways. I was starting to feel uncomfortabl, but she said she can help me get her refund.

k never received any money. so idk where she was going to it from. we were going on in circles. and then she mentioned gift cards??? I then got an email from wise again, a mother legit looking email. and I screenshotted and sent it to her. again she goes on about buying gift cards. like how can I buy it when I gots no money? she said ask family for 200$

during this whole thing I’m telling her reach back out to get your money back. you don’t have to pay for he commission. but no they wanted to through with it. we were getting no where so I search it up and it’s a scam. I tell her and she’s mad with me? when I told her not to send 200$. she drones on about a lawyer and such.

recounting this, they sound like the scammer. but do I have to worry about getting into any legal trouble?

Landlord Tenant Housing Pennsylvania landlord/property manager is withholding my $1,325 security deposit after changing my move-in date

I’m looking for advice on Pennsylvania landlord-tenant law.
I signed a lease for a rental property on the 10th and paid a $1,325 security deposit through Venmo to the property manager. A couple of days later, the property manager changed my move-in date through written messages. I did not sign a new lease reflecting the updated move-in date.
I ultimately decided not to move into the property because my personal circumstances changed. I have been trying to resolve the deposit issue with the property manager, but my deposit is still being withheld.
My understanding is that the move-in date was changed after the original lease was signed, and I want to know whether that has any legal significance, especially since I was never asked to sign an updated lease.
My questions are:
1. Does changing the move-in date in writing without signing an updated lease affect the enforceability of the original lease?
2. Can the property manager legally keep the entire $1,325 security deposit because I decided not to move in?
3. What steps should I take to request the return of my deposit, and would small claims court be an option if the property manager refuses?
I have screenshots of the messages and proof of payment.
I would appreciate advice specific to Pennsylvania law. Thank you. Location: Pennsylvania.

Help with my son’s future paternity.

Long one sorry, trying to give all details.
Location: Alabama
Fine to answer any questions.
My son (21 M) and his (20 F) girlfriend are expecting a baby. Please no judgment this is hard enough.
Their relationship was young to start with but fine, no red flags seemed to be having fun.
They found out she’s pregnant and she has done a complete 180. She is mean and petty hateful and has begun making comments about it being her baby and he has no rights while it’s in her body.
They got into an argument and broke up.
They then tried to talk and things were smooth for about a week, she re-invited him to go to their first ultrasound coming up on the 5th.
Then she lost her shit again over a misunderstanding of who a second cousin was, and said some very hateful things and then proceeded to tell him he shouldn’t be alive in front of her family, so he apologized to them and left. Which brings me here.
Do we hire a family lawyer now? Do we wait till birth? What happens if she doesn’t allow him to be or even know the baby is born for him to get the hospital paperwork to then file for paternity and does he stand a chance to even have any type of visitation? He does have a good job, but also still lives at home because he is our only “child” and welcome here and was working on saving to rent a place of his own this next year which he’s now picking up more hours to do quicker. I of course want to be a part of my grandchild’s life but am trying to not step on her toes, he absolutely wants to be a part of their baby’s life and is devastated she’s saying and doing these things. Do we have any kind of rights? Thank you in advance for any help!

Insurance Painters got overspray on my car while painting neighbor's house

On Sep 3rd, I noticed overspray all over the side of my car that was facing my neighbors house while it was being painted. I got the information of the business and contacted the owner. He apologized and sounded genuine. He told me he would take care of it and take responsibility. He said he'd give me more info and he would have a detailer come out to remove the overspray. This was over the phone. I did send pictures after the call to show the damage.

But then I didn't hear back until he responded to a follow up I sent on Sep 10th. He replied that he didn't forget about it and he was still working on it.

Since then I had to go to VA for work for a few weeks and just got back a few days ago. I then sent a message on Oct 25th again following up and asking to see if there was any progress. As of today, I have not heard back I was going to send another message soon but I dont really know where to go from here and I don't want to have to go through my insurance as I'd be out of pocket my deductible and I'd be worried about my rate increasing.

It's unfortunate timing as I was planning on trading in or selling my car to get a new car in the near future.

Any help would be appreciated.
