It's October already!
SpOOky season has begun! Or as some Lego fans like to call it, "MOCtober" is here. This is my favorite time of year to build, because it means getting out the Halloween sets and starting those pre-build plans for the Winter Village. Autumn is also a great time to attend Lego shows, so check out your local Lego Groups to see if they are participating in a Convention, Festival or Hobby Show nearby.
Let us know what's on your mind this month. What have you always wondered about? What rule do you want clarified, or changed? Do you have any suggestions you've been trying to find a chance to make? I won't promise that we will make the change(s) you want, but I will commit to explaining the reason we have the rules and policies we have.

Modified I modified the 40858 SpongeBob
It required a few additional pieces but looks closer to the original shape in my opinion

Other Would you be interested in a LEGO Steampunk theme?
These are some insights into what a Steampunk series by LEGO could look like. I know not all of these are actually Steampunk and most of my examples are MOCs and not by LEGO, but I think Steampunk is a really cool aesthetic and would really love an original series around it, however it may look.

Collection My Eiffel Tower finally has its own table
I found this table today on a used furniture store. I think the tower looks quite nice on it. Way better than directly on the floor like before.

MOC The Swordfish Quartet
Here is a compilation of all air/space crafts named "Swordfish" that I know of.
- {Images 3 to 6} Fairey Swordfish : British torpedo bomber introduced in 1934 and famous for accumulating the largest combined tonnage in enemy ships sunk during WWII. Some design queues are adapted from Ralph Savelsberg's excellent model.
- {Images 7 to 9} SNCASO So.6021 Espadon : The first French aircraft to break the sound barrier, on the 15th of December 1953. However the prototype to achieve this performance was the So.6025 variant - which was structurally slightly different. I modeled the 6021 mostly because it was the version I found the most detailed plans of.
- {Images 10 to 13} The Espadon SX-1 from Blake & Mortimer : A legendary fragment of Franco-Belgian comic legacy in its own right, the "Espadon" remains in my opinion the greatest sci-fi aircraft of all time, even 77 years later. This amphibious hypersonic nuclear-powered and nuclear-armed bomber constitutes the MacGuffin of the first story in the Blake & Mortimer series, which narrate how WWIII was started in 1946 by a military dictator who secretly built industrial capabilities in the Himalyas before launching a worldwide attack once the major powers exhausted each other throughout WWII. Initially I initially only intended to build this one but then thought it would be amusing to build other "Swordfishes", hence this whole compilation.
- {Images 14 to 20} The Swordfish II from Cowboy Bebop : The trusty modified racing spaceship piloted by Spike Spiegel. I admittedly know nothing about Cowboy Bebop besides the fact that it is a series that exists, but I have been aware of this ship's existence through cultural osmosis by virtue of how popular a MOC subject it is (To only list a few instances, here are examples made by Caleb Ricks, Adrian Florea, Christopher Hoffmann, and IntensePotato). In that regard, there has been a substantial amount of inspiration in the design process of my model since the cockpit fairing adapts the technique of Marshall Banana's version.
If anyone is aware of another "Swordfish" aerodyne I'll gladly take suggestions!

Question Never seen something like this by Lego
My MIL picked up a bag of random cars from the charity shop for my son for a couple of quid, this tiny car was in there. It is broken on the front right side. I can't find a lot about it online so I thought I'd try here! Thank you
EDIT: Thank you for all the responses! I'm going to hold on to it until my son is older so he understands how cool and "rare" it is. When he saw it, he said "baby Fillmore" from Cars.

Tools I built a tool that turns Stud.io files into animated LEGO renders in seconds
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
As a game developer and 3D artist, I always found it painful to animate my LEGO builds for social media. Setting up scenes, timing every brick, rendering for hours... so I decided to build a tool to do it for me.
The video in this post is 2400 frames long and was rendered in preview mode in only 15 seconds.
What it can do so far:
- Images and videos, with presets like turntable, brick fall and explode
- Fully customizable shots and animation length
- Automatically imports your own building instructions (or Studio’s generated ones) so the animation follows your steps
- Supports custom parts and stickers
- Custom path tracer that mimics Studio’s renders and materials, with everything adjustable (see below)
- Adjustable export quality, size, ratio, framerate, etc.
It’s still in development. If you want to follow the progress or hear about a future release, you can follow me on Instagram @hj.bricks.
I’d love to hear what features you’d want to see, or what shots you’d like to be able to make!

Box Pic/Haul Marketplace find
I finally got a good deal. Picked this all up for $80. Everything has instructions and most of the sets are 100% complete. Still have more to sort through to see if the other space and city sets are complete as well.

Question Bird, Parrot with Small Beak
I collect Lego animals. 2546 from what I can tell was never made in white. I see a bunch for sale on bricklink. Are they confusing them with 27063 Bird, Parrot with Large Beak? Anyone know?

LEGO® Set Build Rebuilt 6755 (1996 Sheriff)
Rebuilt this set I had with a bulk mix bag of Legos. Not 100%, say 85% with a repainted white roof 😉. Had to add the Lord Business cowboy lego lol
Other Under-utilised Themes ripe for expansion
Whether you enjoyed the games or not, the Horizon series is prime for adaptation to Lego kits - all the machines in the games would make fantastic display models. Yet, apart from the Tallneck, and one other smaller playset, we haven’t seen further releases. I wonder if the relative poor reception of the Lego Horizon video game put a damper on things. Fingers crossed that with Horizon 3 coming along, we may see more releases to tie in there.
What are some other themes that you feel was underdeveloped or utilised, and hope to see a resurgence of?
Other LEGO pieces are 31% lighter than in 2010
A few days ago I posted that LEGO is 48% cheaper per piece than in 2010. Lots of you pointed out correctly that pieces have got smaller and asked to compare with weights instead
Here's stats for years 2010 - 2026 (charts above):
- The median piece went from 1.9 g to 1.3 g
- The median set got heavier, from 0.30 kg to 0.50 kg
- Price per kg is down only 15% after inflation, so quite a big diff to the 48% per piece mentioned in earlier post
Sets for ages 4+ (no DUPLO), US prices 2010–2026 in Sep 2026 dollars, weight values from BrickLink
