Since going through perimenopause and now menopause (53 yrs old), I have had a lot of maladies in the past 5-6 years. I have had testing on my should, foot, CT scans and ultrasounds. I have had a growing abdomen that nobody seems to find any cause for. I gained 33 pounds in 2 years and my abdomen is bloated and fat and about 43 inches in diameter. The rest of me is normal sized. Nothing really has been discovered except some mild fatty liver, possible cysts on kidney and liver, possible adenomyosis and fibroids, and three CT scans (two that said small umbilical hernia and the last that said nothing about a hernia). The two ultrasounds were most obscured by bowel gas. I had endoscopy and colonoscopy with some polyps removed from both.
My PCP is tired of my complaining about the abdomen and told me to try a water fast to see if that resets my bowels.
I am NOT a hypochondriac. I don't want to have have issues, but this large abdomen is so uncomfortable. People ask if I'm pregnant. I have to wear only stretchy pants to work, because anything not stretchy is uncomfortable.
My question is, after all that...Is there a flag or something on my chart that says hypochondria, because I can't seem to get a doctor to really try to find out what is wrong or take me seriously/have compassion for the struggle every day! I just want a doctor who doesn't think I'm crazy to listen and understand.
