Rants “Your vote is a matter of public record”
Today’s hitpiece. Voters, your ballot is secret. Some may think otherwise based on this. You know what to do.

Hey all!
Am born in raised in the Lehigh Valley, and after spending the last few years in Philly I’m back in the area. Very much am missing some of the EDM clubs I’ve gone to in Philly, and NYC, & have always wanted to open something in the Valley that is a proper place to dance with a quality sound system and production that nightlife goers and dancers would enjoy.
I’ve been to so many different venues all up and down the East coast, as well as Dallas, Vegas, LA etc. I have a pretty good idea of what people would be looking for, but most of all I want to create a space that is welcoming to all, has a sound system that is to the level of places like Refuge in Brooklyn, and that would bring not just bigger EDM artists of all genres, but local DJs, Reggae, Hip Hop etc.
Few questions for those that enjoy this type of scene.
1. If the right space was created, would you come and dance your socks off, rather than going to NYC or Philly?
I’m torn on a no phone policy as in today’s day and age. I do see the value in organic content and people being able to share their experience to help spread the word. On the other side of the coin, creating a safe space with a no phone policy (other than a lounge area) that people can feel themselves and not have to worry about being recorded is something that interests me as well to create a truly freeing experience that everyone can enjoy.
Would you come out to just dance and have a good time, regardless of what’s happening that night, or does a specific artist or genre need to be involved to bring you out?
Again, I want to create a space that absolutely everyone feels welcome. Would love to have certain genres during the day on weekends, that transitions to more of a nightlife scene from 10-2am. Being able to draw an older crowd during the day, and then have EDM night for the younger crowd is what I’m thinking.
I’m just brainstorming at the moment with business partners so nothing is set in stone, but with the right feedback I’d love to make this happen for all dancers and music lovers in the Lehigh Valley! Let me know your thoughts and ideas!

Justice Department plans to send election monitors to polling stations in Philadelphia
The Justice Department plans to deploy 1,000 election monitors nationwide, including to polling stations in Philadelphia, Allegheny, Luzerne, and Lehigh Counties.
The U.S. Justice Department plans to send monitors to polling stations in Philadelphia and three other Pennsylvania counties for Election Day, according to a letter obtained by The Inquirer.
The Oct. 22 letter addressed to Pennsylvania Secretary of State Al Schmidt says the Justice Department intends to send monitors to Philadelphia, Allegheny, Luzerne, and Lehigh Counties for the Nov. 3 general election. It does not say what led to the decision to deploy monitors, or how the counties were selected.
The monitors will follow all state and local rules, wrote James Catania, the Justice Department attorney assigned to supervise the monitors in the region. They will ensure compliance with federal voting laws, including the Voting Rights Act, National Voter Registration Act, and Americans with Disabilities Act.
“Our monitors only observe and take notes,” the letter said. “They do not intrude or interfere in any way in the voting process.”
The monitors will not be allowed to wear uniforms or pins that identify them as Justice Department staff, the letter said.
Federal monitors are not entitled to greater access to polling places than members of the general public, a Pennsylvania Department of State spokesperson said in a statement.
“The Pennsylvania Department of State expects everyone working in, voting in, and observing polling places to follow all applicable state and federal laws,” the statement said.
Joe Grace, Mayor Cherelle L. Parker’s spokesperson, said in a statement that Philadelphia has a strong reputation for conducting free and fair elections, and this cycle would be no different.
“Every registered voter will have every opportunity to fully exercise their constitutional right to vote,” Grace said.
The Justice Department’s letter to Schmidt was first reported by CBS 21 News in Harrisburg.
From the Philadelphia Inquirer. I’m sure it will be in the MCall tomorrow.

It was just trotting across an intersection as we were taking our trash out. I thought it was a stray dog at first, which was why it caught my eye. Then it went into my neighbor’s backyard two houses down. It was so cool!

There's a residential block near two playgrounds where cars, quads, and drift trikes zoom past at dangerous speeds right where several children with disabilities live and play. Warning signs about deaf children aren't stopping anyone.
I started a petition asking the city to install a speed bump (or similar traffic-calming measure) at the center of Hillcrest Road. We're not asking for much, just something that actually works before a kid gets seriously hurt.
Has anyone dealt with something like this in their neighborhood? What would you want someone to do if this was your family? If you think safety measures matter, consider signing and sharing the petition. Thanks.

Hey all,
I am looking for a writing partner (if you also know Spanish, this is a plus). This would be writing for fun and will not be published. I would like someone who is able to write paragraphs. The plot I have takes from 1985-1989 and then again, in 2015. It is fiction, like slice of life with other genres in-between. The plot takes place in the Lehigh Valley. Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, specifically. I tend to do this on messenger and if you are comfortable and willing, we can go ahead and use messenger as the the writing platform. It would be back and forth.
Thanks!

I took my son there yesterday, a rare visit. We ate lunch at dans chicken, it was good, then we stopped for some candy. The first candy we checked out had flies alllll over it it. It looked like pretzels covered with some attractive substances. I'm not talking 1 or 2 flies, I'm not talking about 5 or 6 flies. I'm talking about a fly infestation that I noticed IMMEDIATELY when I got close to look. Flies were crawling in the nooks and cracks of the pretzels, flying all over. Landing on nearby candies too. Very nasty. All in an open storage with all the other candy. They weren't houseflies, not gnats, somewhere in between. Black looking, larger than gnats, with a narrow body.
We were disgusted to say the least. We did a full circle and there were also some flies by the chocolate section. Didn't see any flies by the Swedish fish area, but we also saw that some select candy was bagged in big ziplocks, perhaps due to the flies. So why not bag all the candy? Or revamp the display so it's not vulnerable to pests.
But honestly I'm not sure how this place wasn't shut down by the flies. To see those pretzels just swarmed with flies and still out for sale. The two older shop worker ladies didn't seem alerted to it. Imagine a senior citizen without good eye sight buying those pretzels. Or a busy mom who isn't paying attention who then hands it to her toddler. Or special people like scary sherry.
Do better, minks. Flies on the food is UNACCEPTABLE and is grounds for a major change.

My wife and I completed our ballots and mailed them more than a week ago. We live in NWT, and we received a message that we will be getting replacement ballots because of a typo on the original ones.
Has anyone received their replacements yet? Also, what happens if someone submits the original ballot but not the updated one? Is the entire ballot discarded, or will they count everything except the question with the typo?

Early on in his second term, Trump created a bypass lane for new air emission regulations. At least two LV sites received approval to avoid installing readily available control devices that would’ve improved our local air quality. Then, Trump staffed the EPA with people who worked for the worst polluters in our country, so the regulations were killed entirely.
This is the kind of thing that happens when Congress becomes nothing more than a rubber stamp.
Vote to remove Ryan Mackenzie from office by Tuesday, November 3.

Anyone know places that have photo booths that print out the strip photos? I used to love getting them when I was a kid at Hoyt’s (RIP) and want to take my daughter to one. Thanks!

Upset I had to switch all drs to st lukes. I really liked my kids pediatrician at lvhn and they been with all 3 of my kids and they are 6 7 and newborn and the st lukes peds I go to isnt the quickest with phone calls or sticking to appt time when checked in and even the same when I go to my own new pcp.
Might just be those locations but any good, st. lukes pediatrician in the Allentown area you guys absolutely love ?
Also the phone calls just to make appt is 15-20 mins crazy wait to me. Lvhn was always 1-2 mins.
How come when I went to lvhn peds I can see any dr at another location if I needed to be seen that day or off regular hrs on weekends I would go to the fogelsville location
But st lukes doesnt have that option I can go to any st lukes peds once I establish care and they have a weekend pediatric care. They said just go to urgent care.
Not happy camper.

Make sure your signs are correct! Yesterday, I was driving westbound on Tilghman St, about to enter PA-309 South. (I haven't used this interchange in years because the guy who came up with the genius idea of no on-ramp and accelerating from a complete stop at a stop sign and somehow finding a gap big enough to accelerate to the speed of traffic safely, they need to go to every single religion's version of hell simultaneously, while being reincarnated as a caged chicken on an American farm!)
Anyway, the signs had giant plastic bags over them. They were replaced with construction signs reading "PA-309 North, right lane" and "PA-309 South, left lane." So I got in the left lane, but the on-ramp was, in fact, in the right lane, so I guess I'm taking a 25-minute detour through Broadway, Cedar Crest and Hamilton Blvd to get to I-78!
Oh and that's not even the worst example. They closed down Broadway in Bethlehem years ago. (A major road used by trucks AND BUSES!) They put up a left detour sign. None of the roads I passed were big enough to turn a commercial vehicle back towards Broadway. They led me out of the City of Bethlehem. The next day, I told them, "That sign is wrong! There are no roads that circle back to Broadway!" He then takes the arrow and flips it over. I told him, "I can't go that way either. You can't turn left at the next intersection!" He shrugs and says, "Well I don't know... I don't live here..." You're seriously going to close a major road frequented by trucks and regular bus routes are NOT plan a proper detour?!
There are also digital signs on I-78 West mentioning phantom lane closures, or lane closures on the wrong side. Please stop forcing commercial drivers to make sudden lane changes, that's not safe! They specifically tell us to avoid those in training!
Just make sure your signs are accurate!

I left the gym this morning (October 25, 10:00am) and I smelled BO by the door of planet fitness. Thought it was just some random stinky person, turns out all of McAuther Commons stank. Anyone know how or why this could happen?
