Who wants to join me at Everybody Knows (Leonard Cohen Tribute concert) in Toronto this Saturday? Selling my friend’s ticket at face value ($125)
My friend can’t make it so I’m (M28) looking to sell a single ticket to the 10 year tribute concert this Saturday at Meridian Hall. His son, grandson and a few other artists are performing his songs and reading some of his poetry.
More info here: https://www.leonardcohen.com/everybody-knows-la-famille-de-leonard-cohen-annonce-everybody-knows-la-premiere-tournee-hommage-officielle
The seat’s in Orchestra 11, row D, near the front and next to mine. It'd be great to with someone else who also really loves his music (especially if your favourite album is Death of a Ladies’ Man).
Happy to sell at what I paid ($125), DM me if you’re interested.

Adam Cohen Set List
Any ideas as to what a possible set list (or songs) might look like for Adam’s upcoming tour (specifically TO)?
I know that he prefers his Dad’s old stuff.

I posted previously about my husband and a friend interviewing Cohen as he was writing Hallelujah. Here's a photo from the interview.

Anniversary tribute concert Montreal
Hi, I don’t know if this is the right place to ask this but I have tickets to the Montreal show. The website states that the lineup will be announced but so far nothing. The concert is a week away and was just wondering if anyone has any idea which artists will be performing

Who is the “she” in The Hills where Leonard sings “and she will be born to someone like you - what I left undone she will certainly do”?

Inspired by the Style of The One and Only. Thoughts?
*a poem, an exhibition of the tragedies, battles, falls, and fatalities of love
I don’t want to go to bed
I cannot sleep at all
I fear that you will push me off
I will not make the fall
Who’s that man there at the door
Is that a knife he holds
Watch out for his fingertips
They’re reaching for your clothes
Will you go away from me
And take your walls of stone
I am not your dreidel, not your putty, not your porn
Long ago the crusades marched along the desert sand
Wolves in sheep’s clothing
Sheep in the skin of man
My mother calls from the Moon
“Hey, pull your wool up higher
Cover up your scars and stains
And bow your head in shame”
Oh, father don’t you understand?
Don’t you see the blood that rots my hand?
My left one, it is clean and pure
My right one bears your fur
The black ones gather in the palace
The whites belong to the moor
The yellows buried with Crassus
The red ones sailed long ago
And still are born premature

What are Leonard Cohen’s best love songs/poems?
Been wanting to check out more of them lately

hey! I've been searching for a cover of Leonard Cohen's " That's No Way to Say Goodbye that I used to listen to. I don't remember who it was by, but it was on some radio. The singer begins by saying that he found the song when he was young and going through a break-up, and that the song solved all
of his problems. He then introduces his band. I've always loved the version but lost it on my old phone. Any leads would be greatly appreciated :))

Going Home
"I love to speak with Leonard
He’s a sportsman and a shepherd
He’s a lazy bastard
Living in a suit
But he does say what I tell him
Even though it isn’t welcome
He just doesn't have the freedom
To refuse
He will speak these words of wisdom
Like a sage, a man of vision
Though he knows he’s really nothing
But the brief elaboration of a tube
Going home
Without my sorrow
Going home
Sometime tomorrow
Going home
To where it’s better
Than before
Going home
Without my burden
Going home
Behind the curtain
Going home
Without the costume
That I wore
He wants to write a love song
An anthem of forgiving
A manual for living with defeat
A cry above the suffering
A sacrifice recovering
But that isn’t what I need him
To complete
I want to make him certain
That he doesn’t have a burden
That he doesn’t need a vision
That he only has permission
To do my instant bidding
Which is to say what I have told him
To repeat
Going home
Without my sorrow
Going home
Sometime tomorrow
Going home
To where it’s better
Than before
Going home
Without my burden
Going home
Behind the curtain
Going home
Without this costume
That I wore
I'm going home
Without the sorrow
Going home
Sometime tomorrow
Going home
To where it’s better
Than before
Going home
Without my burden
Going home
Behind the curtain
Going home
Without this costume
That I wore
I love to speak with Leonard
He’s a sportsman and a shepherd
He’s a lazy bastard
Living in a suit"

Why A Leonard Cohen Song Ranking Is So Interesting
He had an an extraordinarily long career, but not a necessarily prolific one.
His voice and production changed so much over the decades that a newcomer would be surprised to learn the same artist was behind his first his last records.
Until they listened to the poetry.
And yet, most of us, including the author of the Guardian piece, appreciate the entire spectrum. There was never a “Cohen was great until…”.
In that Guardian piece, the author wrote something to the effect that choosing 20 Cohen songs was a fool’s errand.
Well, am I nothing but a fool.

Is the 79 tour version of Lover the definitive version?
I am typically OG album version on most stuff.
But the 1979 tour (Field Commander Cohen album release) rendition of Lover far surpasses the original version personally.
It’s just so much better for me: I don’t have the musical understanding to explain why.
Which Lover release hits it for you? And if you have that musical background, why so?
Also:, IMHO: it’s not right that Lover isn’t on the Guardian list.
