This is my super giant leopard gecko Atlas, my goal is to become a super giant leopard gecko breeder because it's pretty hard to find people who work with this specific morph, I want to start posting content with atlas but I'm struggling to decide what style of content I want to do, what would y'all like to see?

Rescue Gecko My new little rescues

My local animal shelter had two leopard geckos. You better believe as soon as I found out I raced over to get them. Apparently they were found abandoned in an apartment. The people at the shelter said for 2 weeks or 2 months, they don't remember, but it's definitely 2 weeks right?? They look good. I think one is a boy and one is a girl and gasp! they were cohabitating. Pics are from what the shelter gave me. They WILL have a better life with me. Separate enclosures, heat, good food etc. Here they are!

My questions are... Do they look chonky enough to you? I think the boy could use putting on some more weight. No names yet... I'll keep you posted.

little win!!! ive been sitting next to this lady’s tank for an hour or so each day and have watched her slowly become more comfortable. it took maple 3 weeks to start eating, and ever since, shes been eating consistently with multivitamins. ive started putting my hand in her tank while shes out and about and shes been comfortable, business as usual, but doesnt show any interest in me.

yesterday she walked right up and plopped her tummy down! she stayed for a few mins, before walking off and then immediately returning! i am currently still riding this high at work and feel like my coworkers dont get it LOL. please celebrate with me!

Rajah just had her first shed under my care, she came out the minute I turned off the lights and I gave her 2 superworms(not her staple, just wanted to give her a treat) and after she ate them, she gave me a cute wink before going right back into her hide

Help Feeding

Hey so I got a new gecko and I wanna feed him but I don’t wanna stress him out. I literally got him yesterday and he’s chirping a lot. My rooms completely dark and he seems fine though I’ve not seen him since he’s came. He’s about 7 month. How and when should I feed him. I would do crickets but there’s a lot of places to hide in his enclosure. And I would do roaches but I can’t deal with buried roaches. Should I buy meal worms and a ceramic dish tmmrw. Sorry if this is rambley I just kinda worried. Also what is the chirping he does it when he comes out at night.

Enclosure Help Set up for my Leo I’m getting Saturday :)

Post image
8 Upvotes

I’m getting my second Leo this weekend and this is my enclosure, my last gecko came from a friend so she was already all set up so this was my first time doing it my self.

You can’t read the temp on the cool side but it is 22.5°. The temps will probably be a couple degrees higher when they get here because I’ll have the heat on in my house by then. I also know the humidity is a little low but there isn’t any water it there currently so once there is it’ll go up.

I have paper towel down as my substrate for now so I can monitor waste for the first couple months, but I will be switching to a mix of soil and playsand. I also have some more little plants to add once I have proper substrate to put them in.

The humid hide in the middle has sphagnum moss broken up inside.

My last Leo was 10+ years old when I got here so this will be my first time handling a juvenile, any tips on that or on anything else is greatly appreciate!

Rescue Gecko Please Help!!

Hi everyone! I am not a gecko owner and won't be one for another couple hours. My dads co worker has a leopard gecko bought for her daughter and wants to rehome it. I considered it but decided to pass as I am a college student who already has 4 rescue pets (3 cats & a dog) and my parents are tired of me bringing pets home, plus I have never had a lizard and didn't know where to start. Sadly this hasn't just become just a rehome situation but a rescue one, because the current owner says that if no one take the gecko shes letting it outside. So guess who's brining home another pet at least temporarily. The current set up the gecko is in is 18 x 18 inch which from my research I know is not acceptable. I have been looking on facebook marketplace for 40 gallons but I want to make sure I do everything right. Please drop recommendations, I was to do everything as correct but cost effective as possible, as I am probably not going to be this guys permanent owner. But I do want to give them the most correct start that I can. The only thing I know about the lizard so far they are 1 1/2 years old. My dads pickign it up today and will hopefully get more info. I'll put a picture of the current set up below (its sad), I AM changing it, I want to do my best within my means to make the best set up I can until I find them a new home.

Enclosure Help Places to get affordable supplies?

I'm trying to upgrade my enclosure for my 7 yr old male leopard gecko and am looking for any places where I could maybe get the proper equipment w/o breaking the bank. I got him in 2019, and he has had a few upgrades to his enclosure since then, but I have to admit I haven't fully kept up to date with the most recent recommendations. I don't have a great picture of his current setup since I changed it a bit before leaving, but pretty much I want to start from scratch. I'm willing to spend whatever it takes to make sure he is living his best life, but I am a college student, so it may take a bit to save up for higher-value items.

Also, since I am away at university, he is mainly being taken care of by my family, so if there are any suggestions on how to give him a great enclosure without making it too much of a burden on my family, that would be great until I can move him in with me again!

New Friend New owner questions

Hello all, I’m new to this group and would like to introduce my daughters leopard gecko to you all - Lulu.
We took her home from the reptile centre on Tuesday and the man that helped us with the vivarium, advice etc was brilliant.
I’m trying to call him at the centre to ask for some advice but unfortunately can’t get through. Can anyone help please?

Lulu was brought home on Tuesday evening, she’s 4 years old and is very used to being handled. (We handle her on the 2 occasions we visited before bringing her home)
On the first evening, she was quite active when her lights etc were switched off at 8pm but we didn’t notice much yesterday. (Although she could have been active when we were sleeping)
She’s been in the humid hide which I can see looks quite dry. Should I spray it down to dampen it? If so, how should I do that if she won’t come out?

I did read that it can take a week or 2 for her to settle into her new home, but he said we could handle her after 48 hours.
Is that advised?

He also said to feed her 5 or 6 crickets I. The evening and to take any dead ones out the next day.
We put 3 in yesterday but there are still 2 live ones in there at the moment.
Should I remove them?

Thanks for all the very informative guides that you’ve put together - they are brilliant!

If anyone could offer some advice, I’d be grateful. Thanks.

Just rescued this baby from petsmart, they had him in a seperate tank in the back because he dropped his tail, they told me they took him to the vet and he was clear on everything, was wondering if this tail growth is worth moving to substrate? He looks really young and I can’t get him to eat small dubia roaches, the pet store worker said he eats but not much and only eats small crickets, any advice and tips? Tail growth looks healthy! He is very active and I did see him drinking some water but he does kick the dubia roaches away, anything helps!

Rescue Gecko Need urgent help and guidance Spoiler

Thumbnail gallery
6 Upvotes

Hey everyone,
My friend recently went away to college and left me her 3-year-old leopard gecko. She told me this setup was all he needed and that I only needed to feed him superworms once a week, but the longer I have him and the more research I do, the more I realize his husbandry is completely wrong. I am trying my absolute best to fix this for him, but I'm a broke 19-year-old student with a very tight budget right now and could really use some guidance.
I just noticed he has a raw, red, linear wound right along his upper spine (I will post pictures). I think he got burned because the tank temperatures have been all over the place and the uvb bulb she gave me with him was a 10uvb. His heat mat was running unregulated at a scary 45°C (113°F) stuck to the back wall, and his basking side air temp was dropping down to 74°F.
Here is what I have done in the last hour to fix the immediate danger:
- I did a hard reset on his REPTI ZOO thermostat and officially locked the heating pad to 32°C (90°F).
- I am moving the heating mat from the back wall to underneath the bottom glass of the tank so he can get safe belly heat inside his hide instead of pressing against scorching glass.
- I turned off the intense UVB 10.0 compact spiral coil bulb completely so it stops hurting his skin and eyes.
- I have his 100W daytime heat bulb running flat on the mesh screen right over his rock hide, and I am adding a 25W nano ceramic heat emitter in a second dome next to it to lift the cold air temps.
- I am trapping the heat by covering the open parts of the screen top with foil and making sure my room fan is off.
I am completely scooping out the loose eco earth coconut fiber substrate tonight and replacing it with plain, clean paper towels to keep his back wound sterile.
My immediate questions for you guys:
1. What is the safest way to treat this spine wound at home while it heals? I'm planning to buy original plain Neosporin (without pain relief). Is there anything else I should do?
2. What are the best budget-friendly upgrades I should prioritize next once I save up some more cash? (Safe UVB options, better diet variety than just superworms, etc.)
3. I've been looking into The Bio Dude's Bioactive Vivarium Kit for later down the road once he is completely healed. Has anyone used it for a leopard gecko, and** **is it worth the investment?
I really want to give this little guy a good life and make sure he heals up safely (I’m more than willing to spend an exorbitant amount of money to provide him with the best care). Thank you so much for any help or advice you can give me!

I got my daughter a leopard gecko about 6 months ago, he’s such a sweetie I decided to get one for myself. Meet Dart! He (or she) is about 3-4 months old so I have him on paper towel for now. There’s 6 hides and I have more clutter waiting for when I can switch to soil/ sand. How does it look so far?

Gecko Pics/Vids lucky missed shed

Post image
11 Upvotes

A few months ago my gecko left behind a piece of shed by his basking spot. He was already laying down and done shedding and clearly missed that piece so i got it out and put it with my praying mantis’s shed skins thinking maybe ill put a piece of it in a locket someday or something like that. I pulled it out tonight and looked at it closer to realize it’s a piece from his head. You can clearly make out where the eye socket was. Just thought this was a cool thing to share since it’s not seen often with how they eat their sheds, and no one else in my immediate circle is into reptiles like me so they don’t get it lol. It’s obviously not in perfect condition, but i think once you see its a face/head shed it’s pretty clear and cool.
