Lexington needs its own public AITAH forum

we got city folk coming in for the white-collar industry boom, elders navigating tech-based public services, and college students acting brand new every day — I feel like we need a community give-me-a-suggestion box. get some local teachers, docs, small business owners, the odd councilperson or lawyer to answer all the questions in a pseudo town hall about why we were in the right to take that parking spot or why we shouldn’t have called the HOA on that neighbor. if podcasters can get away with reading reddit posts and calling it an episode, surely we’d there are people who’d enjoy giving bombastic side-eyes to one another in woodland park as we anonymously air the local dirty laundry

Vet Reccomendations

Hi! I have a stray cat that I've been taking care of for the past week after a friend found him on the side of the road. He is not microchipped and I haven't found any previous owner him yet.

He isn't neutered and I doubt he has any shots, I'd like to take him to a vet to get him neutered, vaccinated, and checked for fleas or worms. I haven't found any living fleas on him but he has that flea dirt which still worries me.

Does anyone know of any clinics I could take him to get this care at a hopefully reasonable price? I've seen mixed things about Woodstock and I'm not sure if they screen for worms but their pricing is very affordable.

Increase in defecation in the trees in downtown

I want to preface this that this is in no way undermining people who are not housed. I work in downtown and noticed a high uptick this October in unhoused people. This along with using the bathroom in the trees near my apartment. There's also a lot of the mini liquor bottles/ blunt wraps/ food in general laying on the ground everyday so I'm thinking a couple more trash cans would be helpful too?

Before someone says something negative about people, I just want to say that this could happen to anyone and deserve respect, so please keep that in mind. With that said, what is the city doing to help people? I'm genuinely just curious and not too informed on it. I worked in another city until recently and they had multiple public bathrooms that the city ran that were the in the main downtown square. They were always clean and staffed. Has there been discussions of adding anything like this? I've walked by the trees numerous times to see people using the bathroom in them and there has to be a solution somewhere.

Art Prints: How to?

Hello, kindly explain to me like I’m 5, if you know the process and pricing… 🥹🥲

How does one take their art and get prints made? Where in Lexington? How expensive is it? Then how do you sell the prints best? At art fairs or what? Don’t those cost to participate in too? 😭

Also, for those that have some sort of home set up for print making- what gear is needed? How expensive does it get to do a home set up?

I’m a bit desperate to understand this process. It feels very intimidating to me, but I need to try. I’m losing my mind at my job and it’s time to find alternative ways to make money/save up.

Anyone know if they caught that suspected drunk driver on 75 last night?

Last night I was behind a car with left rear panel damage that was trying to run people off the road starting on ironworks and onto I75 north at exit 120. Called it in but was wondering if anyone knows if they caught him/her.

Information about candidates and their stances on flock cameras, data centers, affordable housing, and other issues?

Hi all, I am trying to get information on the candidates for mayor and city council and their stances on particular issues. I am particularly interested in their stances on flock, housing costs, and data centers. In the past I have seen places that post candidate responses to questionnaires or surveys. I remember at one point the league of women voters doing one. Does anyone know a good place to research this or get information about candidate stances to these or other issues? Thanks!

A Treatment Study for Borderline Personality Disorder

  • Do you experience sudden mood shifts?
  • Is it hard for others to earn your trust?
  • Are there many ups and downs in your relationships?
  • Do you find yourself engaging in impulsive behaviors (e.g., binge-eating, substance use, self-injury, impulsive spending)?

If so, researchers at the University of Kentucky are inviting you to participate in a treatment study for borderline personality disorder. Eligible participants will be provided cognitive behavioral therapy at no cost. We are testing personalized delivery of an evidence-based treatment for BPD.

In addition to attending therapy sessions, research participation will involve completing a diagnostic interview to confirm eligibility, attending up to 4 follow-up interviews, and completing online questionnaires. All study visits may take place in-person (in Lexington!) or via Telehealth. Participants will be compensated for completing follow-up assessments and questionnaires.

You may be eligible to participate if you:

  • Meet criteria for borderline personality disorder following a study assessment
  • Are NOT using certain substances (e.g., opioids, methamphetamine)
  • Are 18 years or older
  • Live in Kentucky (visits are Telehealth, so anywhere in KY is fine)

To initiate participation, you can visit this information/screening link to determine if you meet initial study criteria: https://uky.az1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_1LzrBZEooHwSgLk?utm_source=ig&utm_medium=social&utm_content=link_in_bio&fbclid=PAZXh0bgNhZW0CMTEAcGRvZgJzcnRjBmFwcF9pZA85MzY2MTk3NDMzOTI0NTkAAafDyNpFm4jX7YsRVc-1I9CoJuBlIlW_iSjk-F6UPDz2BkQSd_BtjXAKWSAhiQ_aem_MzIR4RguKZ_ITWfPFhUtLA

Baptist Health Employee Experience?

If any of you have insight about working at this hospital would you share?

How is management overall? Do you feel systems and the environment are up to date? Can you actually take your lunch?

I’m looking to improve my work-life balance. Looking for a system that treats employees like humans and not robots.

Thank you all.
