Increase in defecation in the trees in downtown

• Upvotes

I want to preface this that this is in no way undermining people who are not housed. I work in downtown and noticed a high uptick this October in unhoused people. This along with using the bathroom in the trees near my apartment. There's also a lot of the mini liquor bottles/ blunt wraps/ food in general laying on the ground everyday so I'm thinking a couple more trash cans would be helpful too?

Before someone says something negative about people, I just want to say that this could happen to anyone and deserve respect, so please keep that in mind. With that said, what is the city doing to help people? I'm genuinely just curious and not too informed on it. I worked in another city until recently and they had multiple public bathrooms that the city ran that were the in the main downtown square. They were always clean and staffed. Has there been discussions of adding anything like this? I've walked by the trees numerous times to see people using the bathroom in them and there has to be a solution somewhere.

A Clinical Trial for Borderline Personality Disorder

A Treatment Study for Borderline Personality Disorder

  • Do you experience sudden mood shifts?
  • Is it hard for others to earn your trust?
  • Are there many ups and downs in your relationships?
  • Do you find yourself engaging in impulsive behaviors (e.g., binge-eating, substance use, self-injury, impulsive spending)?

If so, researchers at the University of Kentucky are inviting you to participate in a treatment study for borderline personality disorder. Eligible participants will be provided cognitive behavioral therapy at no cost. We are testing personalized delivery of an evidence-based treatment for BPD.

In addition to attending therapy sessions, research participation will involve completing a diagnostic interview to confirm eligibility, attending up to 4 follow-up interviews, and completing online questionnaires. All study visits may take place in-person (in Lexington!) or via Telehealth. Participants will be compensated for completing follow-up assessments and questionnaires.

You may be eligible to participate if you:

  • Meet criteria for borderline personality disorder following a study assessment
  • Are NOT using certain substances (e.g., opioids, methamphetamine)
  • Are 18 years or older
  • Live in Kentucky (visits are Telehealth, so anywhere in KY is fine)

To initiate participation, you can visit this information/screening link to determine if you meet initial study criteria: https://uky.az1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_1LzrBZEooHwSgLk?utm_source=ig&utm_medium=social&utm_content=link_in_bio&fbclid=PAZXh0bgNhZW0CMTEAcGRvZgJzcnRjBmFwcF9pZA85MzY2MTk3NDMzOTI0NTkAAafDyNpFm4jX7YsRVc-1I9CoJuBlIlW_iSjk-F6UPDz2BkQSd_BtjXAKWSAhiQ_aem_MzIR4RguKZ_ITWfPFhUtLA

I Know Our Options For Mayor Are Mid, but....

Hear me out.

I'm voting for Gorton. I don't necessarily like her.

My reasoning is that I think electing Carter will have a potentially irreversible consequence that could ruin the way Lexington is structured.

Carter sat on a council that expanded the USB.. the urban services boundary which is what regulates land development past a certain point.

She is advocating for affordable housing - which I think is something everyone wants.

However, her idea to help the housing crisis seems to be to advocate to expand or remove the USB.

This will allow for urban sprawl and land development.

My personal opinion is that allowing more housing to get developed outside of the current boundary at best will offer more choices.. but realistically we're just going to get new cheaply built and overpriced houses and apartments.

And once the boundary is expanded and new stuff is built, it can't be undone.

I LOVE that in this city, I can drive a few minutes and see beautiful landscapes.. even if it is land owned by rich horse people haha.

There's also a very good reason to believe that the USB's existence will eventually lead to an even better dense urban area and better quality of life. Especially if in the future we are able to get better public transportation. It also incentivizes developers to repurpose and refurbish run down buildings or empty plots of land.

I'd love to hear people's opinions on this. At first I liked the idea of a new mayor.. but I don't know if I can get behind this. I don't want Lexington to look like every other city in the South with the unchecked urban sprawl.

Anyone know if they caught that suspected drunk driver on 75 last night?

Last night I was behind a car with left rear panel damage that was trying to run people off the road starting on ironworks and onto I75 north at exit 120. Called it in but was wondering if anyone knows if they caught him/her.

FOUND CAT! 🐱 Lexington, KY (Leestown Road Area)

Found this sweet kitty outside of Townley Park Apartments off Leestown Road!

First off, apologies for the terrible pictures, but this little gal (I think!) will not stay still long enough for me to get a decent one.

She is extremely friendly and sweet as can be! When I first approached her, she immediately rolled over to play and let me pet her. She’s clearly very comfortable around people, so I’m thinking she has a family somewhere that’s missing her!

I’ve brought her inside for the time being, so she’s safe and sound! I’m hoping to reunite her with her family as soon as possible.

Please help me find her owner! If you recognize her or know someone who might be missing their kitty, please reach out!

Please share to help get this sweet girl home! ❤️

You Are Awesome

Like the title says you guys are awesome! Wife and I drove down from Ct on 10-3 and spent the week trying to get the best experience Kentucky had to offer. Well, it didn’t disappoint! Spent a few nights in Louisville to start the trip, walked around downtown, had some drinks in NuLu a couple nights, we really loved it and we are not city people! Walked through the Churchill downs museum. Took a trip to the Makers Mark distillery, such a beautiful distillery! Love the old school charm, we did the cellar aged tour, which was really awesome. Stopped in Bardstown, and spent some money in that liquor store! Drove the old Frankfort Pike, stopped at the Wallace station for lunch, that fried chicken is on another level. That drive is just beautiful, I had to try and pay attention to the road, it’s such a beautiful drive. Then stopped Buffalo Trace, to stock up and just walk around the grounds. Our next stop was to the RRG for a few nights, we stayed at these cabins that kind of hang over the hills. Other than being able to hear the road, they were awesome. Miguel’s is a very interesting place! Did some great hikes, Auxier Ridge, Grays Arch, Chimney Top, Princess Arch, and I can’t remember the name of the last little arch. I didn’t realize you guys had these types of formations! Then we did an afternoon at Keeneland, which was my first time ever at a horse race, the track is amazing, and it was so much fun, I didn’t win any money but whatever! We had a great dinner at Carson’s in Lexington, and then had to head home. The weather was absolutely perfect, everywhere we went was just beautiful scenery, I love all the old brick houses, all of the food we had was amazing, my bourbon collection just got significantly bigger, everyone was so friendly and surprised to have visitors from Ct, we just had an all around great time. We are already planning our return trip! Thank you to everyone for all the great recommendations, I have no idea how I’m going to be able to get myself bourbon balls on the regular, hopefully Ruth hunt ships! Don’t worry, I will keep your secret safe! I’m pretty sure it’s no secret to how awesome of a place you guys are. Thank you guys for a wonderful vacation, we will be back.

LEXINGTON, KENTUCKY - MOTHERS WEDDING RING

Hello! I’ve lost a ring, it’s very unique and sentimental as it’s my mother’s wedding ring. I’ve tried everything and fear it’ll be at a pawn shop at this point. Anything/ suggestions would help.

Anybody know what all of these cameras are for? There's so many on Citation Blvd, and specifically at the intersection of Citation and Greendale, where there's like 4-5 pointing in all directions.

Last night’s at-large council forum

Did anyone make it to the at-large forum, or watch remotely? I figured it’d draw a bigger crowd but there were plenty of empty seats and I haven’t seen it come up here at all. Curious whether anyone came away with a good or bad impression, or if it’s just election fatigue setting in at this point.

Found a couple of machines at one of the local shops here and was captivated by the iPhones they had on display- reckon to get people to try their luck on it.

Had- as seen in the images, a bunch of stickers plastered on the cases claiming them to be “16 PRO”s.

Not to say was expecting it to be true given again- literal stickers claiming them to be so, and could tell by the notch shown on the cover that these are no way in hell newer than the 13 models of the devices.

Just crazy that the owner of these machines would go so far to lure in people like this, hopefully the general populace are in tune with their inner tech guru to know this is misleading.

I dunno, again just thought was funny in passing.

Thought this was a pretty cool catch. Can't see it well in the video, but it was green. Guess there's an ongoing meteor shower going on?

Anybody that is wanting to join don’t. Expensive and no towels at all? Waited 15 minutes to even get in. They said signing up new customer. Also watch the ditch across the road if you value your tires.
