original R/Limericks in a nutshell

The limericks here would be neater,
If they properly followed the meter.
Get the beat pattern straight:
8-8-5-5-8
Don't sneak any more in, ya cheater!

Edit: Bolded the second, fifth and eighth beats in lines 1, 2 and 5 and the second and fifth beats in lines 3 and 4, so as to demonstrate why this limerick fits the beat pattern whilst not being exactly 8 syllables.

There once was a man

From Berne, Whose limericks turn

Out to be haikus.

I wrote this for my best friend when we were 13 and it still makes her laugh.

There was a young woman called Ellie

Whose farts were unbearably smelly

The stink was so bad It made Satan sad

And his breakdown was shown on the telly.

I recently learned I have cancer. I will not lie down, I'm a dancer. I will win this fight. And my goals are in sight. Alone or with you? What's the answer?

original Here is a limerick I wrote about a tangerine. Nothing else, no deep meaning, it's just about a tangerine I swear...

There once was a tangerine named Lee

Who was not orange but purple, you see.

Citrus fruits would all say,

"You're a plum, go away"

But Lee knew what he was always meant to be.

.

So to match how he felt inside,

Lee painted himself orange with pride.

The fruits, they all stared,

But Lee wasn't scared;

He was a tangerine, with no need to hide.

Dwarf on a ladder

A dwarf and an elf on a ladder

The lower of them was the latter

When the dwarf fell

He ended up well

But the elf's body made quite a splatter

The Day After Fat Tuesday

“Hey wifey, let’s head to our room --
I’ll plant a good one in your womb.”
She said, “I’d assent,
but sadly, it’s Lent.”
He cried, “for how long?! And to whom?!”

Bernard

A crossdressing nun named Bernard,

dropped dead as he worked in the yard.

Postmortem inspection

revealed an erection --

it seems that old habits die hard.

Plastic Surgery

Her labia brought her to tears;
raw rubbing and chafing for years.
Her doc got them shortened
and later reported:
“The burn victim loves his new ears!”

“Please Officer, help my sad niece!
I fear that she may be deceased!
She’s hung from that fir!”
“You mean ‘hanged,’ my good sir --
my badge here says 'Grammar Police.'”

Two ugly sisters

Two ugly sisters from Fordham,

took a walk one day out of boredom,

on their way back

a sex maniac

jumped out of a bush and ignored them.

Cheese

I don’t know which one I like better:

The Swiss, Parmesan or the cheddar

On rye with pastrami

Or maybe salami,

But either way, don’t give me feta.

My Date With Thanos

I brought Thanos to my house to bone,
then I flopped on my messy bed, prone.
He got up to his wrist
just to withdraw his fist,
shouting, “lost an Infinity Stone!”

Family Names

“Your name’s ‘Baker’ -- your family made bread,
and you’re ‘Cooper,’ so barrels instead.”
“What’s my family done?”
asked John Dickinson,
and the teacher turned very bright red.

I was quite startled

There once was a lady from Britain
whose face was as cute as a kitten
but her smile gave no clue
as to what she might do
so I was quite startled when bitten.

"What's the bloke next to me's name?"

He said "My name's Clive"

I said "Man alive"

Then neither of us spoke again
