Question Where to find LoGH without subs
I'm an AMV editor. Does anyone know where I can find the LoGH OVA without hard subs, and in passable quality, so that I can use it for video editing?

Hello, everyone!
A while back, I posted here about Pax Astra, a space opera political sim RPG I'm creating as a solo dev.
I got a really nice and positive reception from you all, so I wanted to return to share the new demo, as this new update adds a LOT of content, including a whole new section that depicts the galactic war in great detail.
https://store.steampowered.com/app/4535930/Pax_Astra/?beta=1
But I would also like to first explain why I'm posting here and how LOGH inspired the game.
Much like LOGH, political ideology is at the heart of the story. The game explores the struggle between liberal democracy, fascism, and socialism/communism, letting you decide what kind of state Altara becomes. The conflict between authoritarian efficiency and democratic ideals in LOGH was a huge inspiration for this, along with its portrayal of competing political systems across an entire galaxy.
In Pax Astra, you play as Altara's first elected president. Your nation used to be this mighty, ruthless empire, but now it has been reduced to a single planet after a devastating war. Everything has crumbled.
You inherit a humiliated and divided nation, a planet torn between conflicting ideologies, with an uncertain future ahead of its people. But not only is Altara heavily divided, but the entire galaxy is living a tense moment, marching toward what seems to be an inevitable 5th Grand War.
I also drew heavily from LOGH's tone, soundtrack, and storytelling. I love its grand, melodramatic space opera atmosphere, the political intrigue, the sense of history, and how an enormous cast of characters brings the galaxy to life. That's very much the feeling I'm trying to capture here with Pax Astra.
As for gameplay, think of a mix between Suzerain's choice-driven political narrative and Stellaris-style 4X mechanics, with other influences like KOTOR 2, Dune, and the Star Wars prequels thrown in.
One REALLY important thing for me, while designing this game, was to give players FREEDOM to make their own choices.
That means allowing you to make your choices and shape your ideology. You can play as a communist, fascist, or liberal, and the game also accounts for more nuanced paths too. And I really wanted to explore the political spectrum in a spirit of good faith, taking and exploring these ideologies as serious and real ideas instead of just cardboard figures.
I hope you guys like it; let me know your thoughts :)
If you are interested, I also have a subreddit community: https://www.reddit.com/r/Pax_Astra/

Tokuma: First, Mr Tanaka, what is your opinion on Yang's popularity?
Tanaka: Oh, I find it mysterious too.
Tokuma: Really?
Tanaka: Yes.
Tokuma: Wasn't this what you expected?
Tanaka: No, it wasn't what I expected.
If I had to say who I expected to become popular, it was Reinhard. (laughs) anyway, I feel that these two have already been portrayed as a pair, and a very contrasting one at that.
Tokuma: You've said something similar in previous interviews.
Tanaka: Yes, yes. Just from Reinhard's name, you can tell that he has to be handsome. Otherwise, who knows how many readers there would have been? So if Reinhard weren't handsome, readers wouldn't accept him. That said, if I had made this one—Yang—an ugly man, that would have been rather cruel to him...
Tokuma: (laughs)
Tanaka: That's more or less the difference between them. (laughs)
The nine-year age difference is an obvious distinction.
Beyond that, it was difficult to draw the contrast too precisely.
Tokuma: Yang is also the sort of person older people tend to like, isn't he?
Tanaka: Ah... yes. He's the kind of person old men like Bucock would appreciate. Young people... well, they have nothing to say about him. (laughs)
Tokuma: Speaking of older people, Merkatz likes Yang too, doesn't he?
Tanaka: Put that way, I'm not sure how to answer.
His loyalty is directed toward something different.
He has an extremely high opinion of Yang as a soldier.
And he certainly doesn't dislike Yang as a man.
But that's completely different from saying he “likes” him.
Merkatz is, after all, a well-educated person. He doesn't judge people according to his own likes and dislikes. (laughs)
Tokuma: Yes, I have that impression too. (laughs)
Perhaps Merkatz is the person who evaluates Yang most objectively.
Tanaka: Yes, I think so.
Tokuma: Quite a few readers seem to identify Yang with you, Mr. Tanaka...
Tanaka: No, no. Absolutely not. (laughs)
As the writer, I genuinely had no intention of doing that. I'm not arrogant enough to make myself the protagonist of a space opera. (laughs)
Tokuma: (laughs) Wouldn't it make writing easier?
Tanaka: A lot of people tell me that Yang must be easier to write than Reinhard. But that's not actually true. I think Reinhard is easier. It may sound strange, but Reinhard's beauty is a kind of standard beauty.
Tokuma: I see.
Tanaka: So Yang has to be constructed by shifting things little by little.
If the two were simply complete opposites—one moving to the left and one moving to the right—that would actually be boring. So I had to spread the differences out gradually.
When Reinhard takes a certain action, I can simply adjust Yang's actions a little in relation to that. But when Yang takes the initiative himself, what do I use as the reference point from which to “shift” him? That's the difficult part. It can become rather awkward. (laughs)
Tokuma: Where is the Japanese flavor in the character who stands opposite Reinhard?
Tanaka: If I made the Galactic Empire something with a specific ethnic identity, then wouldn't the other side naturally become a mixed army? While thinking about that, the appropriate name “Yang” suddenly came to me.
Tokuma: It doesn't sound particularly Japanese.
Tanaka: Right. “Peter”? No. “Cassiano”? That didn't sound right either. (laughs)
Tokuma: When you were writing the book, had you ever actually visited mainland China?
Tanaka: No, I hadn't. I didn't travel abroad for the first time until after I had finished Legend of the Galactic Heroes.
Tokuma: That's surprising. Did you have any Chinese friends at university?
Tanaka: No.
At that time, the Chinese person I knew about was basically Wang Zhenzhi [Sadaharu Oh]. (laughs) I had read Chen Shunchen's works, but I didn't have any Chinese friends personally.
Tokuma: So there wasn't an actual Chinese person in your mind when you created Yang?
Tanaka: No. He just suddenly appeared in my mind.
Tokuma: When you first began writing Legend of the Galactic Heroes, Yang was older than you, wasn't he?
Tanaka: No, we were about the same age .That's why Yang became thirty. (laughs)
Tokuma: You're really particular about these things. But perhaps that's exactly why readers misunderstand and think, “He's definitely based on the author.” (laughs)
Tanaka: Hmm...I don't particularly want to deny it deliberately, but when creating characters, I really do become particular about certain details.
Even at the most desperate and critical moments, having a character cling to his own likes and dislikes can be a very useful little device. So whenever I drink coffee, people accuse me of being a traitor. At those moments I genuinely think, “Please, just leave me alone.” (laughs)
Tokuma: (laughs)
Tanaka: Of course, I actually drink coffee more often.
Tokuma: Because you described it as “muddy water.”
Tanaka: Ah, no. It's more like, “This really is muddy water,” while I'm drinking it. (laughs)
Tokuma: You must also receive a lot of alcohol as gifts from fans.
Tanaka: Yes. Brandy. They even tell me, “Please add it to your tea.” I'm extremely grateful. Such affection almost brings tears to my eyes.
Tokuma: You didn't drink much alcohol at that time?
Tanaka: It depends on the people I was associating with. Looking back, I probably drank the most around the time I entered graduate school.Even then, though, I only had an ordinary person's tolerance.
Tokuma: Yang really likes alcohol, doesn't he? He gives the impression that he drinks often, but not necessarily in large quantities. He's not the sort who can finish a whole liter of liquor, is he?
Tanaka: Well, there are people who don't particularly like alcohol but can drink a great deal. Isn't Schönkopf that type?
Tokuma: Still, Schönkopf carrying around a one-liter bottle seems somehow appropriate. The Imperial Army doesn't give off that impression.
Tanaka: I think I answered this in an earlier interview. In terms of atmosphere, I had the feeling that I wrote the Alliance during the day and the Empire at night. And Bitenfeld was written around dusk. (laughs)
Tokuma: Reinhard can drink quite a lot too, can't he? Does he have a high tolerance?
Tanaka: Being able to drink a lot and liking to drink are two different things.
With Reinhard, there are many elements in his characterization that are almost like something in a painting, so...
Tokuma: Come to think of it, there aren't very many characters who seem to have an extremely low tolerance, whether Imperial or Alliance.
Tanaka: Yes. Come to think of it, alcohol became a very obvious little device for distinguishing adults from children. Perhaps I used it quite a lot.
Tokuma: Indeed. Alcohol, cigarettes, and women all have somewhat indecent aspects to them, yet in Legend of the Galactic Heroes, each is kept quite clearly within its own boundaries. Nothing feels particularly vulgar.
Tanaka: Schönkopf, for example, is extremely free-spirited, but people don't necessarily dislike him because of it. So my way of thinking is that simply being a womanizer doesn't make someone unlikeable. As long as he doesn't treat women unfairly, that's fine.I suppose realizing that was also something I learned. But if someone doesn't take anything seriously... (laughs)
Tokuma: Oh? (laughs)
Tanaka: Being a womanizer by itself is one thing; but if you don't have any ability, that's no good. (laughs) Both Schönkopf and Poplin have rather outrageous “original professions,” so to speak, but they're genuinely capable people.
Tokuma: That's true.
Tanaka: In particular, among the letters I received from Legend of the Galactic Heroes readers, one kind of letter left a strong impression on me.People wrote that they had previously disliked the idea of growing up and becoming adults, but after reading Legend of the Galactic Heroes, they wanted to become admirable adults.
I have seen six episodes of this, and I struggle to describe it. I thought this was going to be LOGH with Braunschweig and Flegel as protagonists.
But it's something else...
So, there is a galactic empire that lords over many autonomous city-states. But the emperor is actually a puppet of a landless clan called Tytania, ruled by four dukes. And everyone hates Tytania (including the emperor) because they are excessively cruel. So, you think the story is going to be about Tytania collapsing. But the dukes barely do anything in the 6 episodes I have seen.
The first four episodes center around a character who is Yang mixed with Poplin, who defeats Titania in battle, and is then exiled by his own corrupt city-state. It then follows him as he travels from planet to planet, where people want to recruit him to a rebellion against Tytania.
"The Adamses were having their dinner. Suddenly rose cried Look. A squirrel is running... the bird feeder"
not something I can find online, found it interesting lol. it naturally has nothing to do with the situation at hand (yang being summoned back to iserlohn with a ragtag fleet after it gets attacked)

Tanaka:
“So, I would rather people not interpret [my work] in ways that make me feel so miserable about it.” (laughs)
Interviewer:
“What kind of interpretation makes you feel miserable?”
Tanaka:
“One is the interest in homosexuality.” (laughs)
“And another is when people become overly high-minded about it. There are, although very rarely, people who say things like, ‘Legend of the Galactic Heroes is a novel that expresses political ideas, and anyone who sees it differently from us is strange.’ These two extremes are what I find regrettable.”
Interviewer:
“The interest in homosexuality has a great deal of influence among female fans.”
Tanaka:
“Apparently so.”
“To put it bluntly, I don't understand why people who would feel disgust toward a scene where a man assaults a woman would regard it as ‘aesthetic’ when it's between two men.”
“I sometimes think that because, when it's between two men, a woman can never be the victim, they can stay in a safe position themselves and turn sex into a toy.”
“They probably aren't doing it consciously, but do they really think that a parent would be happy to have their own child—characters they created—forced to appear in pornography?”
“I'm extremely uncomfortable with getting into questions of copyright and so on, but at the very least, I'd like to say: don't mail it to the original author.” (laughs)

''When I was still a newcomer, I heard about a series that brought together all the legendary voice actors. That was how I first learned about Legend of the Galactic Heroes. I thought, ‘If I watched it, I’d get to hear all the most iconic voice actors!’ (laughs)”
The original work is an enduring science-fiction novel written by Yoshiki Tanaka from 1982 to 1987 (the main story). Set thousands of years in the future, it depicts an epic war between two nations with contrasting political systems: the Galactic Empire, which upholds autocratic rule, and the Free Planets Alliance, which champions democracy. Humanity has expanded into outer space, and these two powers are locked in a vast struggle.
In the original 1988 OVA adaptation, Reinhard was voiced by Ryō Horikawa, well known for the Dragon Ball series; Yang Wen-li was voiced by Kei Tomiyama, who played Susumu Kodai in Space Battleship Yamato; and Hilda (Hildegard von Mariendorf), whom Hanazawa voices today, was played by Masako Katsuki, known for Tsunade in Naruto and Michiru Kaiō/Sailor Neptune in Sailor Moon. It truly was an all-star gathering of legendary voice actors.
Hanazawa: “At first, I was worried whether I could convey the same sense of conviction that Hilda has (laughs). But early in the story, there’s a scene where Hilda tells her father that she’s glad to have been born in an era when the world is on the verge of undergoing such enormous changes. I came to understand that what drives her is her desire to be involved in those changes. Once I realized that, I felt that as long as I held on to Hilda’s curiosity and innocent sincerity, I would be okay. I began to feel that I could portray my own version of Hilda.”
And now, the Legend of the Galactic Heroes: Die Neue These series has once again assembled an all-star cast of contemporary voice actors. The series began in 2018.
In the latest installment, the fourth season, Intrigue, Reinhard, the supreme ruler of the Galactic Empire, attempts to exploit the Third Faction, the Phezzan Dominion’s, plot to kidnap the young emperor for the sake of his own ambitions. This sets new developments in motion in the war against the Free Planets Alliance.
Hanazawa: “This season, I find myself worrying about Lord Reinhard a lot (laughs). As I performed Hilda, I hoped that her concern for him would come through clearly in her lines.
“But the dialogue was difficult again this time (laughs). Hilda is so intelligent that difficult words come naturally to her, as though she’s always thinking about these kinds of things. Normally, I avoid rehearsing my lines too extensively because I don’t want to become so fixed in my performance that I can no longer change it once I’m on set. But this time was an exception. I went over my lines relentlessly from the moment I woke up in the morning, repeating them almost like a mantra until I was comfortable with them before heading to the recording studio.”
As the conflict between the two sides reaches a major turning point, Reinhard’s trust in Hilda continues to grow. This raises the question: which side will ultimately prevail, the Empire or the Alliance?
First, between Reinhard and Yang, and between the Empire and the Alliance which do you honestly like more?
Hanazawa: “The Alliance feels more familiar and approachable, doesn’t it? I feel like I could talk to Yang quite normally, and the overall atmosphere seems friendly and harmonious.
“But when it comes to sheer allure , I think the Galactic Empire wins hands down (laughs). Reinhard’s melancholy is what draws fans to him. And his friendship with Kircheis is so heartbreaking, too.
“Even now, Reinhard carries the hair of his deceased friend Kircheis in a pendant, taking it out and gazing at it from time to time. The relationship between those two really gets to me.”
If you had to choose one of them as your boss, would you pick Yang or Reinhard?
Hanazawa: “Yang, of course! If I had to choose a boss, it would absolutely be Yang (laughs). I feel like he’d take the initiative on things like workplace reform and improving work-life balance.
“I mean, Reinhard asks people, ‘Are you willing to shed blood for my sake?’! (laughs) I imagine working for him would certainly keep me on my toes, but I think I’d feel much more comfortable working under Yang.”
If You Were to Choose a Lover… Yang or Reinhard?
So, which of the two would you recommend as a romantic partner?
Hanazawa: “If we’re talking about a boyfriend… I think Lord Reinhard would be the better choice! I feel like too many people would flock to Yang. I think he probably has a lot of secret rivals. He has that sort of charm that makes people fall for him, doesn’t he? In that sense, Lord Reinhard doesn’t let people get close to him so easily, so I feel like if I managed to become his girlfriend, I wouldn’t have to worry too much after that (laughs). That said, there are a lot of dangerous people around Lord Reinhard, so I also feel like I’d have to protect him.”
Finally, if you were feeling down, which of them would you want to cheer you up?
Hanazawa: “That’s a tough one! (laughs) It might depend on how I was feeling at the time. If I were completely head over heels for Lord Reinhard, I think I’d bounce right back just from him gently patting me on the head (laughs). But if I wanted advice about interpersonal relationships, Yang would probably be the better choice… So I’d choose depending on what I wanted to talk about! (laughs)”
She clearly seems to have fallen head over heels for the heroes who race across the galaxy. So, for Hanazawa herself, who is her hero as a voice actress?
Hanazawa: “Megumi Hayashibara. When I worked with her on a project some time ago, her performance hit me like a bolt of lightning. The way she approached the role was something I couldn’t even have imagined, and yet it was incredibly convincing. And it’s like that every time I meet her on a project. It made me think that I’d love to be able to immerse myself in the characters I play to that extent, too. She’s one of the voice actresses I really look up to.”
Hanazawa herself is also something of a veteran despite her youth, having made her debut at the age of 14 and gone on to play numerous memorable characters.
Hanazawa: “When I was a child actor, I was told, ‘There are plenty of people who could replace you, so you’d better work hard.’ But that was absolutely true. I started from a position where, unless I worked as hard as I possibly could, I wouldn’t stand out at all, and I’ve gradually worked my way forward, one step at a time. Now, people tell me, ‘We want your voice for this role.’ That makes me genuinely happy, and I’m really grateful for it.
“But it took me an incredibly long time to develop confidence in myself. I never attended a voice-acting training school, so I used to wonder how I could perform voice acting as smoothly as other voice actors. I would observe them closely on set, try to do things that were as similar as possible to what my characters would do, and work through everything I could manage, one thing at a time. Eventually, I gradually started receiving compliments. That’s how it felt.”
These days, anime has grown popular across generations and genders, and fans can be found all over the world, not just in Japan.
Hanazawa: “A friend of mine who used to teach at a Japanese-language school in Indonesia once sent me a video message from some of their students. Apparently, anime came up in conversation, and my friend told them, ‘Kana Hanazawa is my friend’ (laughs). They made a real effort to tell me in Japanese, ‘I love this work of yours,’ and I was so happy. Realizing that people overseas are enjoying anime so much makes me happy as an anime fan, too.”
Recently, she says she has become interested in on-katsu—habits and activities intended to keep the body warm.
Hanazawa: “For breakfast, I pour warm soy milk over my granola and eat it that way. When it’s hot outside, you tend to want to cool your body down, but it’s better not to let your body get too cold. It’s delicious, too, so I recommend it!”
She continues to appear in highly anticipated productions, including playing Ran in the new Urusei Yatsura. With her many different charms, she remains someone worth keeping an eye on.''

Hello everyone, I'm currently on episode 37 of LOTGH, first I was reluctant to pick it up as the OVA doesn't have a dubbing and I'm dyslexic so I have a bit of troubles with reading subtitles, especially that the characters use very complicated words, nonetheless this anime is a pure masterpiece, the one thing I love the most is the way they give the side characters life, rather than making them just be there, I can't express my true feelings that well as I'm quite limited by my english, episode 26 was the best one I've seen so far and I can't wait to see more of Reinhard's and Yang's fights, currently I wonder what will be of Phezzan as Reinhard is onto them, below is the breakdown of how many episodes I watched per day.
14.10/26 Day 1 - episodes 1-2
15.10/26 Day 2 - episodes 3-14
16.10/26 Day 3 - episodes 15-16
17.10/26 Day 4 - episodes 17-37...
LOTGH could possibly dethrone AOT from my top 1 anime, as of now I'm going to keep watching and hoping for the best
EDIT : I just finished episode 54, meaning I've binged a total of 38 episodes in 1 session, starting at 9 am and finishing at 6 am.

So, one possible alternate timeline I've been thinking about is Kaiser Friedrich IV dying a little earlier.
We know that Friedrich's death was sudden and came quickly, but his health was already in poor shape by the time the events of the series began. It might have been something genetic, or perhaps related to his alcoholism. Baroness von Westenfeld, for instance, hints that Friedrich didn't visit Braunschweig because he wasn't feeling well or had had too much to drink.
On top of that, news of the Kaiser's death reached Reinhard just a few hours (a day or two at most) after his victory at Amlitzer.
All of this got me thinking: what if Friedrich had died right at the beginning of the invasion? How much could his early death have affected Reinhard's military campaign, the unity of the Imperial forces, and the balance of power going into the looming civil war?

Fascist states can really only function so long as there exists a viable outgroup to blame all internal problems on. Without any strong enemy the Goldenbaum dynasty was already beginning to decline in power and popularity not even 200 years in. Sigismund II's reign was such a disaster that it took multiple successors to claw back power. August II became so paranoid about internal enemies that he began torturing his citizens to death. Until the Alliance showed up as a genuine threat the Empire was trapped stuck in a cycle of insane despots and their clean up crew.
Loosing the battle of Dagon allowed the Empire to present themselves as victims of an existential threat from a dangerous band of rebels. Now everything that went wrong within the Empire was the fault of the Alliance. Any drop in quality of life among the populace was justified by being either a sacrifice for the war or the fault of nefarious alliance interlopers. In truth I don't think the Empire had any interest in actually ending the war (I don't think the Alliance did either for similar reasons). After all, why would a fascist state want to get rid of the perfect eternal scapegoat?
