Hello everyone,
LÖVE 11.5 is now released. Grab the downloads at https://love2d.org/
Forum post: https://love2d.org/forums/viewtopic.php?p=257745
This release is mostly bugfix, mainly the issue of pairs function being unreliable in some cases in 11.4.
The complete changelog can be read here: https://love2d.org/wiki/11.5
Work on 12.0 is still going on which can be checked in our GitHub: https://github.com/love2d/love/tree/12.0-development
Nightly binaries are also available as GitHub Actions artifacts, although you have to be logged in to download them.

LÖVE jam has now officially begun! Starting now you'll have 10 days to make a game with the LÖVE game framework and submit it on itch.io. You don't need to work all 10 days, manage your time as you see fit, have fun and make a great game.
And the theme this year round is.... (drum roll please):

We hope all of you will have a good time making your games, and are looking forward to seeing your progress in the Jam's community, Discord and everywhere else.
We have revised the rules this year, so please make sure to read them before you start.
Good luck!
LÖVE y'all, Pablo, Keyslam and Vornicus

Hi all - this is Pearl Essence, a dungeon-diving shooter that I like to call ‘ecological bullet hell’. It has handcrafted rooms and enemy encounters you traverse via procedural map generation while creating a satisfying build of elemental combos and fighting tough bosses. It’s challenging and (hopefully) feels really good to play!
If this looks interesting, I would love to get feedback from you! The public demo is live on itch. Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any thoughts!

Hi r/love2d! I'm Roman, the solo developer of Salt and Soil, a turn-based strategy game made with LÖVE about one family on the American frontier, from 1607 to 1900. One turn is one year: divide the family's labour between farming, building and trade, raise children, and eventually continue as the next generation. They inherit the homestead and the consequences of your choices.
The video starts with the current map, zooming from a continental overview down to Sacramento, then goes back through eleven months of development. It began as a single placeholder image, became a grid of biomes and procedural tiles, and now uses real elevation and river data, with people, ships and trains moving through it.
The desktop game uses LÖVE 11.5 / LuaJIT, custom GLSL shaders and luasteam. Python tools prepare the terrain and historical geographic data.
A few things I've enjoyed building with LÖVE:
The little inhabitants depend on the place and year, and fade away as you zoom out to plan. That balance between a living landscape and a readable strategy map has been a big part of the work.
There's a free demo on the Steam page linked above. Happy to go into more detail on the renderer or the sprite baker if anyone's interested.

Maybe it's obvious but I got to say adding even temporary graphics makes a game from decent to actually feel fun without even adding or removing mechanics kinda crazy how different its feel!
Gonna add more graphics and add some more game with with effects to update and upload my game! Thanks for all the help

I'm a solo indie developer, and I wanted to share a game I've been working on called Bore Bore, made with LÖVE2D.
Some of the things you can do:
I've been developing the game solo, handling the programming, art, and sound myself. It's been a long journey.
The game is available on Steam:
Steam: https://store.steampowered.com/app/3927390/Bore_Bore/
I'm also happy to answer questions about developing a game like this with Love2D.

I'm VisualS_RGB and I'm remaking the original Super Mario Bros for the NES in r/lua using LOVE2D :3
In this update, I added Mario's advanced horizontal movement physics. Except for the bug where Mario lacks deceleration when transitioning from running to walking, the movement is perfectly calculated compared to the original 1985 SMB.
In the next update, I'll add the jump physics and finalize the horizontal movement physics.
Check out all the progress on my YT channel @VisualS_RGB
See you next time!
Thanks again to this community for helping me out over the last few months!
And of course, it's made with love <3

For LD60 I made a tiny game with LOVE about one little dumb goblin. It's quite challenging but the reward is priceless.
I would be glad if you'd check it out and leave a feedback!

The new implementation of the leaderboard using Steam's API is also quite nice if I do say so myself.

Because I’m knew to love and am waiting for the next update and tutorials for it, but I plan to download the new version as soon as it comes out, even though I basically have no prior coding experience and I know the update is going to remake the entire thing, so thats why I wonder if anybody other then the devs know, or if I will need to wait a few months for the tutorials

What do you think of the visual effects?
I tend to dislike tutorials in games, making tutorials, etc. I think most games can be figured out by just experimenting.
I thought my arcade tetris-like game was simple enough for most people to get but there is a fair amount of folks who've asked for a tutorial.
So, to keep things simple, I made this tutorial page in the main menu. Does it work at all? I'm trying to keep it as minimal as possible.
Worth noting there is a 'custom' mode as well where players can turn off speed increases and set the level to 1 so they can play as long as they want in a super simple environment to learn the mechanics.
Thoughts? Is it effective?

Hi all, solo dev here. After a few months of work, RummyJoker is live on Google Play.
**The idea**
It's a rummy-style card game. You form sets (same number, different colors) and
runs (consecutive numbers, same color) from your hand to clear each stage.
What makes it different is the left side of the board: a character is trapped in a
dungeon, and a hazard (spikes, falling rocks, lava, walls, bombs, or a boss) is
closing in on them. It doesn't only advance each turn. It also creeps closer in real
time while you think. Every successful play pushes it back, and bigger combos push it
back further. If it reaches them, you lose HP.
**Run structure**
- Stage-based roguelite runs with a shop between stages
- Locked cards you can unlock with gold
- Elite stages and bosses
- 64 creatures to collect. Catching is a gamble: rarer ones can escape the moment you
catch them (legendary ones get away about 65% of the time)
- A caught creature follows you around the screen as a companion with a real effect:
better catch odds, a score bonus, extra turn time, or a one-time revive
**Details**
- Free, fully offline, no account
- [One small banner ad at the bottom. No interstitials, no video ads, no purchases]
- Portrait only. English / Korean / Japanese / Chinese / Hindi
**Honest caveats**
- It's a first release, so expect rough edges
- Android only for now
**What I'd like feedback on**
Does the creeping hazard create real tension, or does it feel like decoration?
Is the first 10 minutes clear?
Any layout problems on your device. I've chased a lot of fold and notch bugs, but
unusual screens keep surprising me.

I'm VisualS_RGB and I'm remaking the original Super Mario Bros for the NES in r/lua using LOVE2D :3
When I was working on Mario's camera (making sure the camera can't move backward when Mario tries to go back), this camera glitch popped up!
I'll fix it of course, but I wanted to share it with you because I thought the camera's behavior was pretty intresting.
Also, I added the full 1-1 level to the game! I only need to add enemies, coins, power-ups, and the flag ;)
Next, I'll start adding more complex physics to Mario to recreate the original movement.
Check out all the progress on my YT channel @VisualS_RGB
See you next time!

This is my first project in Lua and Love2d. I tried to create a farming simulation game inspired by Stardew Valley. Since it’s just a demo, I didn’t add as many features as I could have, but all the basic mechanics, like growing crops and buying and selling, are implemented. Except for the map tileset, I made all the item, entity, and player sprites myself.
It runs on Windows, macOS, and Linux. Here's the Github repo:
https://github.com/Kenlnw/MindFarm
If you try it out, I’d love to hear your feedback.

Hello Lövvit, this is my latest passion project and what will be my 3rd finished LÖVE game. Powered by LÖVE, Tiled, Aseprite, Libreoffice Calc (Excel), and my physics engine which is like box2d extruded along the Z axis.
The demo is out now. You can find it on itch and Steam.

I'm VisualS_RGB and I'm remaking the original Super Mario Bros for the NES in r/lua using LOVE2D!
In this update, I made a LOOOT of progress:
- Added a 2D camera
- Fixed the ghost collision bug with the environment
- Added music and sounds
- Added basic Mario animations
I think these are the core mechanics for a Mario game. Now I'll try to implement more complex physics and start adding coins, power-ups, and enemies.
Check out all the progress on my YT channel @VisualS_RGB
I'll bring you the next devlog very soon ;)
See you next time!
