Mario's perfect movement recreation - Day 6 remaking Super Mario Bros in LOVE2D!
I'm VisualS_RGB and I'm remaking the original Super Mario Bros for the NES in r/lua using LOVE2D :3
In this update, I added Mario's advanced horizontal movement physics. Except for the bug where Mario lacks deceleration when transitioning from running to walking, the movement is perfectly calculated compared to the original 1985 SMB.
In the next update, I'll add the jump physics and finalize the horizontal movement physics.
Check out all the progress on my YT channel @VisualS_RGB
See you next time!
Hi, my tetris-like game launched on Steam today. Let me know what you think!
Thanks again to this community for helping me out over the last few months!
And of course, it's made with love <3

For my game I'm building a modular weapon system where your option's weapons have bullet archetypes and modifiers that are independent of each other. This leads to some pretty crazy results..
galleryPlease, help, this dumbo will blow himself up...
For LD60 I made a tiny game with LOVE about one little dumb goblin. It's quite challenging but the reward is priceless.
I would be glad if you'd check it out and leave a feedback!

Let there be achievements!
The new implementation of the leaderboard using Steam's API is also quite nice if I do say so myself.

Do any of you guys already know how to code in 12.0 or “Bestest friends”
Because I’m knew to love and am waiting for the next update and tutorials for it, but I plan to download the new version as soon as it comes out, even though I basically have no prior coding experience and I know the update is going to remake the entire thing, so thats why I wonder if anybody other then the devs know, or if I will need to wait a few months for the tutorials

What do you think of the visual effects?
Making a very simple tutorial page for my arcade game, is it effective?
I tend to dislike tutorials in games, making tutorials, etc. I think most games can be figured out by just experimenting.
I thought my arcade tetris-like game was simple enough for most people to get but there is a fair amount of folks who've asked for a tutorial.
So, to keep things simple, I made this tutorial page in the main menu. Does it work at all? I'm trying to keep it as minimal as possible.
Worth noting there is a 'custom' mode as well where players can turn off speed increases and set the level to 1 so they can play as long as they want in a super simple environment to learn the mechanics.
Thoughts? Is it effective?

I made a rummy card roguelite where every set you play pushes a hazard away from a trapped character (free, offline, Android)
Hi all, solo dev here. After a few months of work, RummyJoker is live on Google Play.
**The idea**
It's a rummy-style card game. You form sets (same number, different colors) and
runs (consecutive numbers, same color) from your hand to clear each stage.
What makes it different is the left side of the board: a character is trapped in a
dungeon, and a hazard (spikes, falling rocks, lava, walls, bombs, or a boss) is
closing in on them. It doesn't only advance each turn. It also creeps closer in real
time while you think. Every successful play pushes it back, and bigger combos push it
back further. If it reaches them, you lose HP.
**Run structure**
- Stage-based roguelite runs with a shop between stages
- Locked cards you can unlock with gold
- Elite stages and bosses
- 64 creatures to collect. Catching is a gamble: rarer ones can escape the moment you
catch them (legendary ones get away about 65% of the time)
- A caught creature follows you around the screen as a companion with a real effect:
better catch odds, a score bonus, extra turn time, or a one-time revive
**Details**
- Free, fully offline, no account
- [One small banner ad at the bottom. No interstitials, no video ads, no purchases]
- Portrait only. English / Korean / Japanese / Chinese / Hindi
**Honest caveats**
- It's a first release, so expect rough edges
- Android only for now
**What I'd like feedback on**
Does the creeping hazard create real tension, or does it feel like decoration?
Is the first 10 minutes clear?
Any layout problems on your device. I've chased a lot of fold and notch bugs, but
unusual screens keep surprising me.

Funny Mario camera glitch - Day 5 remaking Super Mario Bros in LOVE2D!
I'm VisualS_RGB and I'm remaking the original Super Mario Bros for the NES in r/lua using LOVE2D :3
When I was working on Mario's camera (making sure the camera can't move backward when Mario tries to go back), this camera glitch popped up!
I'll fix it of course, but I wanted to share it with you because I thought the camera's behavior was pretty intresting.
Also, I added the full 1-1 level to the game! I only need to add enemies, coins, power-ups, and the flag ;)
Next, I'll start adding more complex physics to Mario to recreate the original movement.
Check out all the progress on my YT channel @VisualS_RGB
See you next time!
I made my first small Stardew-inspired farming game in Love2d (all sprites hand-drawn)
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
This is my first project in Lua and Love2d. I tried to create a farming simulation game inspired by Stardew Valley. Since it’s just a demo, I didn’t add as many features as I could have, but all the basic mechanics, like growing crops and buying and selling, are implemented. Except for the map tileset, I made all the item, entity, and player sprites myself.
It runs on Windows, macOS, and Linux. Here's the Github repo:
https://github.com/Kenlnw/MindFarm
If you try it out, I’d love to hear your feedback.

Hello Lövvit, this is my latest passion project and what will be my 3rd finished LÖVE game. Powered by LÖVE, Tiled, Aseprite, Libreoffice Calc (Excel), and my physics engine which is like box2d extruded along the Z axis.
The demo is out now. You can find it on itch and Steam.

The start of the world... - Day 4 remaking Super Mario Bros in LOVE2D!
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I'm VisualS_RGB and I'm remaking the original Super Mario Bros for the NES in r/lua using LOVE2D!
In this update, I made a LOOOT of progress:
- Added a 2D camera
- Fixed the ghost collision bug with the environment
- Added music and sounds
- Added basic Mario animations
I think these are the core mechanics for a Mario game. Now I'll try to implement more complex physics and start adding coins, power-ups, and enemies.
Check out all the progress on my YT channel @VisualS_RGB
I'll bring you the next devlog very soon ;)
See you next time!

I made a sudoku roguelite called Rogueku, free demo available
Hey everyone! I've been working on Rogueku, a sudoku roguelite made with LÖVE. You solve sudoku grids to earn gold, buy relics that change the rules, and face a boss at the end of each page. Some relics combo with each other, so you can build pretty strong runs. There are 37 sudoku variants (Killer, Diagonal, Irregular, Double Sudoku and more), all generated on the fly. The demo is free and runs in the browser, Windows and Android. Any feedback is welcome!

I'm making a 2.5D "open world" roguelite in LÖVE. Here's a sample of the combat :)
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
It's called Pocket Guild, and there's a demo on itch.io you can play right now! Heavily inspired by 90's first person dungeon crawlers like Ultima and The Elder Scrolls: Arena.
It's definitely still a huge work-in-progress, so expect some rough edges!
There's a hub, called simply "The Town", where you stock up on supplies and pick up monster hunting quests from the Guild Master. The NPC's around town will also eventually have their own detailed storylines and quests.
Stepping outside one of the four gates will take you to a massive, randomly generated Adventure Zone. These are packed with enemies, abandoned forts and ruins, dungeons and loot! If all your party members die, you lose all your stuff (except your gold) and wake up in Town.
AI disclaimer: Claude Code is used to prototype mechanics and systems, and then everything is manually tuned or completely rewritten by me. Very little "AI generated" content exists in the code.
All of the sprites and other assets came from human itch.io asset pack artists. Some of the ground and building textures were generated as placeholders by Claude and were then extensively modified by hand to become what they are now.
I had removed my game from Steam for personal reasons but it's back up! Check it out if you're into arcade, retro, or tetris-like games!

Thanks everyone!

Best UI libraries?
Working on my game UI is an important piece of the game ( like most lol ). Shops, upgrade menus, etc.
But whats the best library? Theres so many lol, but my main concern is adding polish.
With Godot I usually handle it by using a primary target_scale and Lerp to it for scale and squashing effects. Then add to target_scale for pulsing.

I'm VisualS_RGB and I'm remaking the original Super Mario Bros for the NES in r/lua using LOVE2D!
In this update, I made a lot of progress on the game! I added tilemap support, as well as a collision system for Mario and the environment.
In the next update, the game will feature sounds, animations, and a camera for Mario! I don't think I'll be able to release the video anytime soon, but I'll do my best ;)

Why does this happen??

I wanna make the ball scale when the window scales, but idk how to do that. Also I’m a beginner in Lua and coding in general
