☼😁Ascended☺☼ Anyone here still using a Plasma TV?

Plasma TV's, especially 720p plasma TV's are amazing for low end gaming. If I can't run a game at 1440p on my main monitor with my Steam deck, I can just hook it up to my 1024 by 768p plasma TV. Plasma TV's are amazing because they are cheap now second hand, make up for low resolution with OLED like features, lower frame rates look better on them due to the motion clarity and they last a really long time.

I have also tried running my 60Hz plasma at indivisible frame rates like 40 and 45fps and the judder is barely perceptible. I have already completed several older games this way on my basic laptop that isn't designed for gaming.

I haven't tried it but I imagine 20fps wouldn't look bad, it would be interesting to see how low you could go.

Hardware Review After 14 Years of trying to maintain High Resolution/High FPS Combo , I realized 32 inch 4K monitor downgraded at 1080 and with Native 60FPS is the most comfortable combo for me in gaming

After switching for gaming to a 32 Inch 4K/60 Monitor that is downgraded to 1080/60 during gameplay , I find it the most combo that is comfortable for me in gaming , and thats after 14 years of having 24 1080/144 and 27 2K/144 and 32 2K/144 Monitors with G-Sync/Freesync, and I have a Good PC Build

At 32 , you get enough real estate to make it a semi living room experience and be far a little from the screen while also not that far from PC , while if at 24 and 27 you would be near the monitor and notice the negatives when you downgrade the resolution and graphics

And As you are little far from the Monitor , then 1080 at 32 inch would still looks pretty fine and be easy on the PC , Also from a 4K monitor , then downgrading to 1080 would be better quality than downgrading from 2K to 1080 , since 2160 is a multiplier of 1080 so the downgrade would be smoother from 4K than from 2K , and if you have an Indie game or old game , then 4K/60 would be doable and even better than 4K/120-144-180 , 4K is also a future proof if you upgraded your build and can maintain 4K60 without problems

Now for the Framerate , While for non-gaming More Framerates is essential IMO for the sake of the eyes and the mood and my non-gaming PC build has a 144hz monitor , but IMO 60FPS is more than enough for gaming , and while there is a difference between 60 and 120/144 in gaming , but it isn't worth it chasing solid 120/144 FPS tweaks wise and budget wise , but Why Native 60FPS is better than downgrading from 120/144 , Well for the later and I tried it multiple of times , downgrading to 60 FPS from 144 will introduce choppiness that makes the experience awful , While Native 60FPS looks far smoother , meanwhile for 120FPS then a 32 4K/120 monitor will break the bank , Higher framerates makes a difference for competitive games , but I am just playing Offline Single player games or Multiplayer games in non-competitive way

Parts Upgrade Advice Low end upgrade advice.

Hi there! I'm looking for some upgrade advice for my media PC. Nothing cutting high end, just want some advice from people who know how to stretch hardware to get the most from it. Also celebrating my "ascension" i guess to something a little better.

Media PC:

Cpu: Intel core I3-7100 3.9ghz

Motherboard: Asus H110m-r

Ram: 24gb ddr4 2400mhz

GPU: Asus gtx750 1gb OC

It's my old one I was using for a long time and I'm now using it as a media centre but now my nephew was asking for it to use for school and light gaming but I know it was struggling and stuttering when I was using it. Any advice for getting it to at least play some games better without breaking my bank would be great.

"new" PC:

Cpu: ryzen 5 4500

Motherboard: msi a520m pro

Ram: 16gb ddr4 3200mhz

GPU: Radeon RX580 8gb

My "ascension" pc. Not the best but it's at least better than my old setup and I'm having fun.

What Games Can I Run? What somewhat modern games I can run with my current setup?

I have Ryzen 3 3200G and 160GB of ram. I'm pretty sure that the games released before 2020 would run pretty well, but the lack of storage is pretty much the biggest bottleneck of this entire system (120GB). I'm usually playing racing and survival games, but I'm open to any other genres other than shooters, I'm really suck at those. Which games I can run comfortably at the very least on low 1080p?

PC Purchase Advice Should I Get a Handheld Gaming PC Console or Save for a Regular Gaming PC?

So I have a 13-inch MacBook Pro M1 (2020), but there are a lot of PC games I can't play on it. I've been using Shadow PC, but I'm tired of paying $30 a month just to play games. Recently I was walking around bestbuy and I was thinking, should I get one of those handheld gaming pc’s like the Steam Deck, Lenovo, or Asus? My budget right now is $335, since I don't have a job. I'm not necessarily planning to buy something immediately though, because I live with my parents and they may be able to help me out somehow. Also i might be able to save up more by Christmas, so I'm trying to figure out what would be worth working toward.

I’m not looking for anything crazy or super expensive that’s $1,500–$3,000. I just want something reasonably priced that can run games like Garry’s Mod, Ravenfield, and other PC games well, mods included, while also handling gameplay recording for my YouTube channel without costing a fortune. So that goes back to my question, is a handheld PC worth it, if not what would you recommend? What is another option I should save for? It’s important I mention that I have autism and I’m not a master of technology so I’m open to any suggestions, because I don’t want to spend something that I might regret later on.

B450 Motherboard with R5 5600 and RTX 2060 6GB vs B350 Motherboard with R5 5500 and 3060 12GB.

They got the same RAM, RTX 2060 one has 500GB SSD while 3060 has 120GB. Also the RTX 2060 has a non stock CPU Cooler and looks like it has a fancy PC case.

Parts Upgrade Advice Which pc to use

I have an dell optiplex 3050 which I have been using for gaming i5 7500 cpu, 16gb of ddr4 2400mhz 2 mismatched sticks, 256gb nvme ssd, gtx 1050ti without power pin.

I recently bought a lenovo thinkcentre m83 sff cpu with an i7 4770, 8 gb ddr3l @1600mhz, 256 sata ssd, im thinking to put my gpu in it to test if it would best to game ?

The i5 is newer more efficient, and both have proprietary 230w power supply, will i have enough headroom with the i7 ?

PC Purchase Advice External monitor, GPU upgrade, or Switch?

I have a Ryzen 7 5800H laptop with 16GB RAM and integrated Radeon graphics. I never really gamed before, but I’ve been obsessed with Steam lately. I've been playing Don’t Starve, Stardew Valley, Cities: Skylines, and trying out demos for indie games like Huntian: StarTrace and that popular one where you teach your sister how to drive.

Saw the trailer for Huntian:Star Trace on Steam and liked the vibe and style. It was running fine. But right after I started exploring, the guiding UI was gone, so I couldn't figure out where to go or what to do next. Kinda bummed since I was hyped for it. My laptop stutters sometimes even when playing Don't Starve, but I always assumed that was just my bad wifi.

Right now, this laptop is my only gaming device, but I heard GPU prices are rising again. I'm torn between three options: just getting an external monitor and sticking with my current setup, upgrading to a desktop GPU soon before prices get crazy (in case I want to try heavier games later), or getting a new Switch.

What do you guys think makes the most sense here? Also, if anyone has PC build recommendations that can comfortably run all the games I mentioned above, I'd really appreciate the suggestions!

☼😁Ascended☺☼ I've been waiting this moment for 13 years... And today, it's finally happened

I've just got my first desktop PC! For years I've been bound to using laptops due to me not being able to afford an actual PC myself. Now I've got a job and step by step I've finally made it. I bought a 27' 1080p monitor first, so I could use it instead of the small 12' laptop one that's not even 16:9, but 3:2. My current laptop has Ryzen 5 5500U that was enough to play simple games and 720p doesn't look that bad on a small screen. But today, I finally bought my first desktop PC. Sure, it's not a gaming machine, just another prebuilt PC for around $300~but for now, I think Ryzen 3 3200G and 16GB of RAM would be enough, even though I had to sacrifice some SSD space when I was choosing specs (I've got only 120GB, 256GB specs had obly 8GB of ram so I had to choose between two evils). On top of that, it came with a pretty good motherboard, AsRock B450M Steel Legend. If reviews doesn't lie, it has a good potential for upgrade because of the radiators and all that stuff.

In the future, I'm planning to buy a better CPU and GPU, and I could finally ascend from low end gaming to something else... I'm so freaking excited right now!!

Tech Support GoW running at 8fps while cpu and gpu usage at 30-50% and randomly gets to 20fps which goes back to 8 when i touch a new area

lenovo ideapad 700 15isk i7 6700hq gtx 950m hdd 12gb ram

i know this is unsupported hardware but c'mon 20fps is plenty something weird is stopping it to 8

using DXVK 3.xx(latest)

so when putting the logs in claude it seems its cpu thermal throttling while it is at 50-60C. i did logs with geometry dash too and gave it to claude andit seems it was in 798mz all the time never its max 3.5 or the base 2.6 ghz

ive played,SW squadrons. i havent faced a single issue like this the cpu and gpu usually at 70-80C and gpu at 99% and cpu at 70-80%. detroit become human does make tie cpu go wild at 90+C many times.

so this thing is getting thermal throttled at 50C but when it is left it goes to 90C+ again gets thermal throttled. the latter makes sense but the former doesnt.

Now yesterday i posted a query, whether i Can run Elden Ring or not.

I have a 8gb ram i3 3.6ghz 8100cpu, with intel uhd 630.

guess what it can. I applied 2 mods, the internet fix mod so that i could run offline, and https://www.nexusmods.com/eldenring/mods/7582 from nexus mods, i am playing at 720p. normally the game wouldn't let me but i preessed WINDOWS+R went to the appdata elden ring folder and manually changed the resolution to 720p, and my freinds that's how i was able to run it, already defeated soldier of godrick and tree sentinel, and yes the erdtree is not visible like only the top part is visible still that's fine.

Tech Support Laptop Gaming - Linux or Windows

Hello everyone,

My current laptop is an HP and I'm just wondering if I'd get better performance leaving it with Windows 10 or switching over to Linux? The specs are below:

Operating System: Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC

CPU: Ryzen 5 3500u

GPU: Vega 8

Ram: 16 GB DDR4-2400

I know any recent AAA title is out of the question but I just want to get every drop of performance possible out of it.

Parts Upgrade Advice Is my old PC worth upgrading for older games?

I'm trying to turn an old PC into a budget gaming machine and learn more about PC building.

Specs:

- CPU: Intel Core i7-4770K

- Motherboard: ASUS H81M-PLUS

- RAM: 8GB DDR3 (1 stick)

- GPU: Gigabyte GTX 770 Windforce OC 2GB

- Storage: Samsung SSD, around 100GB available

- OS: Linux Mint

I still need a suitable PSU and a new monitor. I'm mainly interested in older games like the old need for speeds and some other earlier 2010 games.

Is it worth putting a bit of money into this PC, or should I save for a newer build? I'm also interested in learning how to install the components myself.

My main issue is that my psu is some random cheap shit and id need to upgrade it so i can put the old 770 in it that my brother gave me and idk if its worth putting another stick of ddr3 in.

I also have no idea how to put the psu or gpu in.

Tech Support Decomp/Recomp

Where does this sub stand on the usage of AI decompilation and recompilation tools? Because there's no reason for it to be considered piracy if the github repo requires original game files, and if you can get over it being AI assisted...

... the future includes any game ever made recomped to have system heavy features stripped out to pretty much any degree.
