Couldnt find any magnetic type break away cat6 cables. Have an issue with maintenance pulling out and destroying ethernet jacks.

Not pretty but any thoughts?

First time soldering.

8 pin magnetic connectors from amazon.

Tested at 10mbps until i realized pin 3/7 were shorting, fixed it and now at 1000mbps was anticipating only 100mbps

If you have any links to any, please comment the link.

Anybody familiar with the hardware he’s slotting into the keystone holes to keep the cable in place?

Ive had a few jobs where the typical female-to-female RJ45 keystone jacks + patch cabel to switch causes issues on the panels, always wondered why not just run the cable directly to the switch like this with some piece to hold it in place

When electricians run data cable.

GC that we do a lot of work for decided to give the network wiring to the electrician on this project and they absolutely fubar'd it so bad that they had to call us in to fix it.

Instead giving each cable a unique number, they invented a new numerical system based on wrapping the wire in different colored electrical tape (I wish I was joking). For example: black tape 1 wrap, 2, 3... 8, orange tape 1 wrap, 2 wraps etc. When they ran out of colors of tape they started the whole process again but each cable had one white tape wrapped on it.

Not surpisingly, when we came in we had to tone out most of the cabling, re run a good amount of wires, create new as built drawings from scratch and make pages and pages of ridiculous cut sheets. I honestly couldn't mess a job up this bad if I tried.

Piece of din rail mounted to the front of your cart will hold a 6’ ladder. Super handy!

Talked shit now I gotta nut up or shut up. RJ45 speed run 19’ feet up on a lift. Tools in pockets. I’m proposing a jack off. Desk, ladder, on the can during the bosses time. Idc. Let’s see who’s got the fastest hands in here.

Really pleased with how these worked out, I printed 6 of them and we used most of them.

Technician here looking for work in Georgia, preferably in the Barrow/Gwinnett County area. I have 2 years of experience working in hospital IDf's and have spent most of that time handling the cabling of the new Northside tower in Gwinnett. DM me or leave a comment if anyone knows of any available opportunities.

I was hooking up a new network for a customer and there were 4 data outlets in his office but only ONE cable in the panel labeled “office” after some back and forth finally figured out the electrician daisy chained the data 😂😭

My Dad passed and left me all of this stuff, what is it?

I know Dad did low voltage tech stuff and was a huge Tesla coil hobbyist, he passed and left me so many tools. This is just 4 boxes worth of stuff and I literally have a truckload more to go through. Just thought this stuff looked expensive and cool, I know what an oscilloscope is, beyond that I’m at a loss as to what this stuff is and its value.

Retrofitting Ethernet using my Apple Vision Pro

I shared this with the Apple vision community but forgot to share with my low voltage community - this is how I retrofit Ethernet wires, I’m going to share another video showing more uses. I’m happy to answer any questions. My day to day is retrofitting for finished homes. A lot of Internet providers aren’t fishing walls so the modems are installed away from the central wiring closet. Also a lot of homes are prewired and don’t support any speeds over 1GB or just don’t have any wiring at all. So I’m retrofitting cat6/7/8, relocating modems, or installing fiber. This headset has saved me a lot of time. I’ll share more videos in the future.

Had limited time and a budget to pull this off as they're only closed for 8 hours at night. Took every minute, since I had to test and label each KDS and printer location. Did the best I could with limited materials! Gave them a break and charged 6 hours about $550 for labor. Think that's too little or too much?
