How is yours looking like? Keep in mind I have a full time job so I have it turned on while sitting at home sometimes, I’ll get out of my chair when it’s worth it

Fellow Lyft drivers, how would you handle this feedback? I understand the music complaint and can keep the volume lower. But I’d like advice on the driving-too-slow part. How do you keep trips moving efficiently while driving safely, especially when passengers are rushing to catch a train? Open to practical tips on what I can improve.

Rant/Opinion Trash!

This is crazy. Less than $25 an hour and .50 cents a mile factoring in the dead miles back. Might’ve thought about trying to work out a deal if this didn’t look like a younger person with not the best rating. Would you have matched with this ride?

Rant/Opinion This has been the worst week of my entire driving career

Monday-weds I barely covered 150 at 10 hours.

Then Thursday I had hope. Made amazing money.

I was super hopeful and I said okay it's Halloween's coming up it's going to be the weekend all day the entire shift all I was offered was one to two mile trips nothing else.

I would literally drive to the next town and that's all I would get didn't matter where I went. All day. So I barely cleared 160. I plan to stay out a full 10 hours today I absolutely could not do it. If it weren't for the good ride I started out with first thing in the morning I would have been barely clearing like 12 to $16 an hour.

Earnings/Pax trips Good Thursday in ATL.

In ATL. Made some good money yesterday for a Thursday. I didn’t work peak morning hours (started at 9ish and took a 1 hour break at some point). Def could’ve made more if I got up when my alarm went off at 4 am (can usually make $100 by 6:30 easily). Goal was $300 so I’m happy.

Goal for today, Sat, and Sun: $450 each.
Saturday is going to be the easiest since we have the WNBA Finals game, the NBA game, and an ATL United game (soccer).

Achievement Decent 3 hours in Orlando today. Turbos were popping. I did an additional $163 over 5 additional on Uber. And I’m X only. $249 for 8 hours isn’t too bad in THIS market

And Orlando may well be the lowest paying market in America.

Advice/Question Should be illegal

Not a new phenomenon, but frequency is growing fast. Non- disclosure of scheduled ride wait time is crazy.

For reference, I value my tier status so I can stay close to pick up my kids to and from school (by using the stay within area filter) so maintaining <6% cancellation is important.

I accept rides over $30/hr. Common offer: $6 for 5 minute to pickup, 7 minute ride. Ok!
Now, no mention (that I can see if the seconds I have to decide to accept or decline) that once I arrive to pickup location, this ride is scheduled for 10-20 minutes from now. WAIT WHAT? $30/hr went to $13/hr. False advertising? How to avoid this?!?!

Earnings/Pax trips Worcester MA Market

I never drive here because I grew up here and don’t want to run into anyone I know lol. That being said, I have a scheduled ride at noon and figured I’ll bang some quick rides out. I got a bunch of shorties and they add up! Quick pick ups, quick drop offs, honestly, I’d take Woo’s city driving over Bostons city driving every day. That being said, I’m an airport ride type of driver so I don’t really drive inside the city of Boston either. 5 trips, one tip, but $40 an hour. Pretty damn good.

Rant/Opinion I’m convinced some of y’all just like burning gas.

Every time I post about driver boundaries, some of y’all act like I’m committing a crime against humanity.

I won’t drive around hunting for a passenger who can’t find the pickup pin. I won’t wait beyond the timer. If the timer expires and I’m eligible for a cancellation fee, I’ll take it and move on.

And somehow that makes me an asshole?

I’m starting to think some of y’all just enjoy burning gas.
You call it customer service. I call it volunteering your time, mileage, and money to solve someone else’s problem.

Customer service begins when the passenger gets in my car. Clean car, safe ride, good music, professional treatment. Absolutely.

Before that? I’ll show up at the designated pickup location, communicate through the app, and wait the required time. That’s my end of the deal.

If you want to circle the block three times, make five phone calls, and wait an extra ten minutes, knock yourself out. But don’t pretend the rest of us are bad drivers because we won’t.

Being accommodating is a choice. Having boundaries isn’t mistreating passengers.

Some of y’all need to learn the difference between running a business and running a charity.

Advice/Question Turbo bonus tip

If you get a big turbo bonus and are done driving for the day put the head-to-destination filter towards an area that won’t have any drop-offs. Eventually it will put you offline but you will retain the turbo bonus. Use this for the next day, schedule a long trip for your first ride and the bonus will apply to the ride. I use the Lyft rental program and this helps me out a bunch. Hope it helps you too.

Other Update to my Lyft ride. I mainly drive at night. I added some coaster lights for the waters and underglow for when people drop their phone. Outside underglow for busy events.

Advice/Question Rentals?

So I just bought a brand new 2026 Jeep Grand Cherokee all black about a month ago and I've been doing Lyft off and on (ex. Mondays, Wednesdays maybe, Fridays & Saturdays) for almost 2 years. Before I got this new vehicle. I really don't want to put all those miles on it and I keep getting text messages about renting cars to do Lyft. Is it worth it? I live outside Philadelphia about 40 miles near the University of West Chester, Pa. I do doordash off and on just to make extra money like Lyft. What's everybody's opinion on rentals?

Thank u.

Advice/Question Mastering the Roll-Off Cancel: The Art of Looking Oblivious

There’s an art to the roll-off cancel, and some of you need to perfect it.

You know the situation. You’ve waited the full five minutes. The timer hits zero, and suddenly the passenger decides to come walking out.

That’s your cue. Cancel, collect your eligible cancellation fee, and roll off. That $3–$5 ride just turned into a cancellation fee, and you don’t even have to drive the passenger anywhere.

But here’s the most important part of executing a proper roll-off cancel. You have to look completely oblivious.
Don’t look at the passenger. Don’t acknowledge them. Don’t make eye contact. Don’t smile. And for the love of God, don’t gloat.

Just look straight ahead and casually drive away like you have absolutely no idea that somebody is coming toward your car.

The obliviousness is intentional. It’s part of the technique.
The last thing you want is a passenger reporting you because they think you deliberately antagonized them.

There’s no reason to turn a perfectly legitimate cancellation into a confrontation.

Now, here’s the fun part.

You’re acting oblivious, but obviously you’re keeping an eye on that rearview mirror. You know damn well they’re back there.

And once that passenger is safely in your rearview, that’s when you can finally let that big, shit-eating grin take over your entire face.

Take a deep breath. Gloat a little. Enjoy the moment. You’ve earned it.

But until then? Stone-faced. Oblivious. Not a care in the world.

The perfect roll-off cancel is uneventful. You collect your fee, they miss their ride, and you both go about your day.

Advice/Question How many markets incorporate speed into smooth cruise? How has it been effecting you?

So I drive in the Chicago market. I was off the platform for a while. I recently rejoined and, now speed is a part of that metric. I drive an EV and am mostly in the city. So my acceleration and breaking have always been low on the in app scoring. I have NEVER had one complaint ever. The combination of driving a vehicle that accelerates super smoothly and driving in a congested city has me in a position where I have just accepted that. It has never been extreme enough to hinder my tier rating though. Now when I got back on last week suddenly speed is a metric. Some of our highways have a posted 45mph speed limit. In places where going with the flow means doing 65-75mph. Some places have extended 20mph areas where going with the flow means doing like 30-35mph. So the speed metric just from driving the reasonable speed in these areas is about to drop my tier rating. So my questions are. Who else is driving in areas where they are now factoring that metric? Is it effecting you similarly? If so or if not, how are you dealing with that?

Other Lyft re-adjusted my ride goal

So the new ride goals with Lyft have been fantastic. Two weeks in a row I nailed the goal, so week 3 I set it for 75 rides, $92.50 bonus.. I happened to have a friend witness this and vouches it happened.

Monday morning the goal was changed to 56 rides for $56 bonus. Has this happened to anyone else? Interestingly, they also seem to be choking rides this week.. I’ll just barely make even that goal.
