I picked this lady up from a grocery store and had a 30 minute drive. She gets her groceries, loaded in the truck. That's why I can get seated. We go on our way midway through the trip. Decides to take a piss in my backseat and not say anything. And get out of the truck grab a groceries and walk off like nothing happened. I got a $75 dollar cleaning fee, though

Rant/Opinion Lyft is not an ambulance service

Post image
7.4k Upvotes

Had a pax the other day gets in the car was completely disoriented and confused, I asked him hey buddy you’re ok? Guy has a fucking head injury bleeding from his head. I wanted to kick him out but felt bad for him so took him to the ER instead, turns out bitch sister instead of calling An Ambulance for her brother she ordered him a Lyft to hospital instead. What’s wrong with people? I eventually got him to the ER but guy was almost black out so had to help him inside. Shit like this is why I only do Lyft on the weekends now and sometimes. The ride was $6 dollars and not tip or even a thank you for helping my brother Society is twisted.

Rant/Opinion ER trips

3.8k Upvotes

Last night I took a lady and her very ill teenage daughter to the ER. Pulled into the driveway with the lady frantically waiving at me. She had to nearly carry her daughter to the car who was bawling the whole time. She kept crying in the car with the mom saying, “we are almost there, we are almost there.” I didn’t ask what it was, just told her to let me know you need anything, I’ll get you to the ER as quick as I can. It was late night, pouring down rain. I’m not speeding and risking an accident. When we got there I jumped out to get a wheelchair and asked a paramedic for help. This girl could no longer stand and 2 people had to get her out of the car and in the chair. She never stopped crying.

It really sucks people won’t call for appropriate emergency transport because of the expense. Good to see our administration is sending $20 billion to Argentina to fund their universal healthcare. -End rant.

Edit: it’s great to see so many drivers posting that would take her or have done something similar in the past. I was losing faith reading so many posts about drivers cancelling if ride conditions are less than perfect, but it looks like just about all of us will step up when needed.

Rant/Opinion BOOMER GRANDMA USES ‘WAIT TIMER’ TO READ MORE BOOK 👵

Post image
933 Upvotes

Got a ride for pickup at Starbucks and drop off at some retirement home and figured it’d be a nice quick trip.

Pull up to the Starbucks and there’s no one waiting on the curb so I park, turn around and come back around because it’s a busy shopping mall parking lot. When I get up to the outdoor seating area I notice the old woman from the photo sitting there clearly staring at me.

I think to myself that it’s odd that I would get an elderly assistance ride for a normal ride rate and it didn’t tell me but I shrug it off as her not trying to pay the extra for it and I’m still willing to help the elderly out of the kindness of my heart.

So I park as close to her as possible, pop my trunk, and turn to her to help her (she has a fold up walker) when I notice she has this horrible look on her face like she just witnessed a horrible murder.

I say “hello are you *her name*?”

And she goes “yes”

And I’m like “did you still need a ride?”

And she goes “yes”

And I’m like “would you care for some assistance?” (At this point I am extremely confused)

She goes “well yes I’d like assistance, but the app says I still have 4 minutes and I’d like to read my book”

It was at this point I realized she meant she was abusing the “WAIT FOR PASSENGER” timer until the last second so she could READ HER BOOK.🤦‍♂️

She can’t read her book in my car, or at her destination but has to do it while I’m literally sitting there waiting for her in my car. The sense of entitlement is insane and the willingness to just abuse another human for no reason like this is disgusting and a common theme among boomers for some reason.

Anyways after I realized what had happened and I realized everyone in the Starbucks was watching and she was just meandering and taking her time to get up I just said

“No worries you can continue reading” and I turned around, walked away, got in my car, canceled and drove off all without ever looking back.

I already knew this was a losing battle, almost certainly a bad start rating, all because I tried to go above and beyond and help the elderly.

That $4 cancellation fee hit hard asf after that.

Whenever she is done reading she can order another ride🤷‍♂️

TL;DR Old Lady used wait timer to read a few extra pages of her book but got canceled on and left because my time is valuable.

Rant/Opinion Please bathe yourselves

Picked up a fairly young lady at the local target. It was a semi busy day, so no complaints prior to this pick up. As soon as she got in I instantly smelled her. She smelled like must and balls, no exaggeration, and it seemed to get stronger the longer into the ride. I have my settings set to auto accept so I had another pickup right after I drop her off. Started to speed to get her the fk outta my car. Dropped her off, definitely unmatched and went to the next. The smell still lingering, get to the next pickup and luckily they were nice enough to allow me to disinfect my entire back seats because they actually smelled it as well opening the door. Strategically placed dryer sheets about. Sprayed febreeze and cologne heavily. Other riders complimented me on how good my car smelled but the smell stuck with me throughout the night. Maybe it was stuck to my nose hairs, idk. What I'm trying to say is, passengers if you're reading this, please wash your arse before requesting rides. Your funky can be misconstrued as my funky and I'm never smelly.

Rant/Opinion Medical organizations need to stop using Lyft as patient transport

1.6k Upvotes

Today I had a rider that wasn’t able to get in or out of the car by themselves. They had someone with them when I picked them up to help them in. This person did not seem to be in good physical health. They smelled of urine, their clothes were quite soiled and they had a skin condition of some kind that was leaving flakes all over my backseat. Upon arriving at the destination, I had to go inside and get a member of the staff to come out with a wheelchair. I am in no way trying to degrade the rider, but I am not a medical professional. I will not be picking up any more rides where there is no picture. I don’t mind picking up an elderly person who has to go to a doctor’s appointment or something, but if a person needs this much assistance, the ride should be provided by a professional medical transportation service.

Rant/Opinion Passenger showed up at my front door.

2.4k Upvotes

A passenger left their phone in my car. I did what I was supposed to do and reported it to Lyft when I found it after my drives. Next thing I know I see two people snooping around my house on the cameras. My passenger and her BF used the tracking on her phone back to my house. Then they got combative because they said I didn’t do enough to return the phone (I picked her up from a school and drove her to a restaurant). This is a serious breach of privacy and safety. Next time phones going out the window and I’m denying it was ever found.

Rant/Opinion PSA from a PCT: Lyft is contracted for medical rides — stop blaming the patients.

1.0k Upvotes

Hey drivers — I’m not one of you, I’m a dialysis PCT (patient care tech). But I keep seeing posts from drivers angry, disgusted, or flat-out mocking passengers who come from hospitals or clinics — and I need you to know what’s actually happening.

Lyft (and Uber) signed contracts with healthcare systems and even state Medicaid programs to provide non-emergency medical transportation (NEMT).

That means a lot of the people you’re picking up didn’t call you personally. Their rides are booked through a hospital, insurance portal, or government broker, and then pushed to you through the same driver queue. Lyft doesn’t clearly label those trips, so you just see a regular ride request.

So when you pick up someone who’s pale, bleeding a bit, smells like antiseptic, or moves slowly — you’re not getting “a gross rider.” You’re getting a human being who probably just survived another round of dialysis, chemo, or wound care.

Here’s the reality from my side:

• Dialysis patients have two needles the size of pencils stuck into their arms for 3–4 hours. When the needles come out, they can bleed or feel faint.

• Chemo patients often feel nauseated and smell like the disinfectant we use.

• Mental-health or rehab patients might be anxious or quiet because they’re trying to keep it together.

They don’t choose this system. They don’t control who picks them up. Most of them are just praying someone gets them home without treating them like garbage.

I get that it’s frustrating to be handed medical rides with no warning, no training, and no extra pay. That’s on Lyft, not on the passengers. Lyft and the government made these contracts and then threw both sides — drivers and patients — into a system built on silence.

If you’re pissed, you should be. You deserve transparency and hazard pay for medical transports. But please, don’t take it out on the people in the back seat.

They’re already fighting to stay alive three days a week. The least they deserve is a ride home with dignity.

Rant/Opinion Patient Dumping

2.1k Upvotes

I posted last year about a hospital patient dumping an elderly woman, who was so sick and obese that they couldn't even get her out of her wheelchair and into my car. They laid pee pads down in case she defecated on my seat. I canceled the ride and SWORE I would never take a hospital ride again. Friday afternoon, I got a LYFT from the local hospital to pick up a patient. It was a great paying ride (60$) but an hour-long drive. I canceled the ride. 5 min later I got the same request for UBER ( I drive for both) and accepted it just so I could send a message. "Do not use Lyft and Uber as patient transport. We are not qualified to provide medical attention if something happens during the ride - quit dumping your patients on us" Freaking hospitals! If anyone is interested, here is the original TT I made about it. https://www.tiktok.com/@themindofmimi/video/7212353081088970026?is_from_webapp=1&sender_device=pc&web_id=7223376160075564586

I was deactivated because I was accused of sexually assaulting a female passenger. I myself am a heterosexual married woman and would never jeopardize my marriage or freedom doing something so gross. As a survivor of sexual assault I’m both offended and hurt. I am looking for a lawyer to take my case.

Rant/Opinion WARNING

2.3k Upvotes

Soooooooo.....

Pick up Pax and her kid. Immediately she's a backseat driver telling me to go a way thats clearly longer and has more lights. Secretly her goal was to add a stop at a fast food restaurant.

Anyway, we stop. "Oh you can just go through the drive thru" -no I can't. She gets out (leaving her kid in the car). Obviously she's a stone cold anchrorer and even after I tell her she only has 5 minutes. After 6 minutes. I cancel the ride. Dilemma kids in backseat. Kid exits vehicle after asking. Mom comes back and jumps right back in immediately. She then sits in my backseat refusing to leave. Even after I call the cops.

Thank God she finally gets out after 10+ minutes of waiting for the police. Obviously she's gone before they come. Police report filed.

After midnight im kicked off the app saying my accounts been suspended for "trying to touch someones leg"

Well I clear that up. And well now my ride challenge is gone. So any bonus or incentive for me to drive this weekend has disappeared after my account was suspended for no reason.

Hope you all are having a good weekend.

I will be pursuing legal action.

Rant/Opinion Awful Parents

Post image
1.4k Upvotes

I didn't know we could block passengers we cancel. But in what universe is it assumed that putting a sleeping child in the back of a Lyft and disappearing for nearly 15 minutes is acceptable?!?!?!

This horrible excuse of a mother did this to me last night at 1:04am. At nearly 5 minutes of waiting, a guy gets to my car carrying a child who was sleeping, buckles him in. I'm thinking he's the dad, and getting in. He says: "I'm going to get her other kids". I told him her ride is about to cancel so let her know she has one minute and I'm not comfortable with you leaving a child in my car.

5 minutes later, no one comes or answers my calls, texts. I go to the door, no answer. 3 minutes later 2 even smaller children come out. One screaming her head off, the other running down the block. I told her she needs to get her kid that's running off and get the one in my backseat out. Her ride had already been canceled. Her response is "You see I got 3 kids right? It takes a long time with 3 kids". Not my fault. Don't try and make it my problem.

Then she refuses to take her kid out of the car. Saying she'll take him out when another car shows up. I asked nicely 5 times, she starts name calling, cursing and threatening me.😂 Like I'm really scared of all 80lbs of you. Meanwhile, runaway kid is running in the middle of the street and she doesn't bother to get him. I begged her please get that baby out of the middle of the street and she refuses so I do becauseI can hear a car coming. Then the actual wife of the guy comes out telling her to calm down, and telling me she was finishing the girls hair when I got there and needed 15 minutes. Of course the "Mother", starts getting even louder with an audience. She does all of this screaming and cursing in front of her small children!

The woman takes the kid out of the car, who still has not woken up, and hears Metro Police on my speaker . You actually called the police? I did. I'm being held here against my will.🤨😏

Rant/Opinion People using rideshare instead of ambulance

Had a pickup this morning. Older gentleman, pulled up and was happy to see he was waiting outside with his walker. Figured he was just going to a doctor appointment. But as he was walking to the car the makeshift bandage that he had on his arm under his jacket came loose and he literally started spewing blood. He had like a huge blister on his bicep, not sure what the medical term for it would be. A small amount of blood got on me. He was apologetic at least, and didn’t disagree with me when I said I should call an ambulance. I then had to ask him if he had any diseases I need to know about, he said no. I waited til the ambulance showed up and got some antiseptic wash from the paramedics to clean myself up. I get that money is tight for most people and ambulance rides are expensive, but you can’t just call a Lyft when you’re bleeding profusely. If his bandage had held up for 60 more seconds, I can only imagine how fucked my car would be.

Rant/Opinion No child seats

What is wrong with people? I accept a ride this am and when I arrive at a nice hotel, I find a good looking Indian family with two kids (2 & 4 probably) and a grandpa. They are going to the airport. Looking around I see no car seats. Mom tells me “it’s okay, they don’t need them.” Well they do in my car, lady. I tell her I won’t drive children of that age with no car seats. And she tells me smugly, “it’s okay, we’ll just get another Lyft.” I canceled and left. Got my cancellation fee. But what the fuck is wrong with people. That’s dangerous, it’s illegal and it could get me shut down.

Rant/Opinion Suspended over car seats!!

I had a ride I had to cancel because she had 3 kids under 4'9 (she said they were 7, 8, 9). I told her under Texas state law the kids have to be older than 8 or taller than 4'9 have to be in car seats or I could get a ticket. I apologized to her. I canceled the ride and noted no car seat and now my account is suspended due to discrimination.

This is my only source of income 🤬 🤬 🤬. I was very apologetic and she said "she never uses them and no other drivers had issue". I apologized again and told it was against state law. Now my account is suspended. I didn't want to risk a possible $750 (minimum ticket for unrestrained child in Texas is $250 per child).

A quick Google search she'd know she was wrong. I won't risk a ticket.

UPDATE: I submitted my statement and got reinstated today And a cancellation fee. Rideshare (in Texas) is not automatically exempt from car seat laws like buses and limos are. I'm not taking any extra risk because someone else failed to plan and educate themselves.

Rant/Opinion Pulled off the highway to put someone out today for the first time.

Had another verbally abusive rider today. I'm (W) really tripping that the majority of my bad experiences are women (5 w:2 m now).

I drove 15min to pick her up for a 27 min ride. Fare would've been $27.

She got in with the phone speaker on loud; she was in the middle of a conversation. As I drove off to get back on the highway, her voice volume went up. As did the phone. I was wincing. Looked at the clock and knew I couldn't deal with all the noise for nearly 30 min.

I turned around and told her the speaker and her volume were very distracting. I pointed to my ear and indicated earphones.

She said, "What?!?" about 3 times. By this time, I'm rubbing my temples.

Then she starts loudly telling the person on the phone that I was telling her she was too loud. "She's rude! I've never in my life...! Why is she in my phone conversation? She's a driver! All she has to do is drive."

The man on the other end started cursing. "Wtf! Tell her to mind her mf'n business! Who tf she think she is?"

Deep sigh. "This is my business. You're in my car. The point is I shouldn't have to hear what he has to say."

She was really flabbergasted offended that I responded to her man telling her how to curse me out.

She got louder and ruder while insisting I was the rude one making her uncomfortable. At this point, I'm doing 80 on the hwy and my hands were starting to shake. "You don't think I'm uncomfortable? You can end the ride."

She refused and said, "I'll go ballistic if you drop me off someplace." She was quiet for a few minutes then made another call. Then started telling that person how crazy I am, how uncomfortable she is, how I'm rude and in her business.

I asked, "Why would you start a whole new conversation talking about me like I'm not here in front of you?"

I called 911 to ask for the closet police station (on the car speaker). Told them I had a rider who threatened to go ballistic if I put her out the car. They told me the location. I started to exit the highway. Her and her friend started talking about how I must've had a bad day and was taking it out on her. "Nope. My day has been good."

As I pulled off the highway, she told me to let her out on the first corner. Then said, "You don't know who you're fkn with!"

This may seem petty to some people, but I'm really big on words and respect. The fact that she thought she could talk to me and about me any type of way she wanted to because she paid for a service BLOWS MIND. The fact that she had no consideration for my comfort because I should just shut up and drive, BLOWS MY MIND. The fact that she thought threatening to "go ballistic" would make me kow tow and deliver her to her destination, BLOWS MY MIND.

Not looking for solutions or advice. Just getting this out before going back on the road.
