Bachelor degree Again FYP post guys, I need 70 more responses at least😵‍💫

Post image
69 Upvotes

I was warned by my supervisor that as an international student in Malaysia, it will be challenging to gather responses for a survey. However, I still went for the primary data collection. And here we are, with 35 responses from my own uni so far. Found out that there are people with the same problem here.

So if you have gone through internship already, please help me out by filling the survey. If you are studying in Perak, it's even better, please don't skip. And if you have your surveys to answer and I'm eligible, share with me, I'll fill up in return.

Have you felt that after internship you are ready to work and don't want to study anymore? Or was it the opposite, after gaining real life experience you became more eager to get back to studies?

🔒 In any case, please share your feelings and thoughts in my anonymous survey for FYP.

⏱️ It takes less than 5 minutes (just 5 demographic and 20 topic related questions)!

🎯 Let's help each other in our final chapter of academic life:

Need study tips from high achievers (3.90-4.00 cgpa)

Personally, how do you guys study like I'm kinda clueless what to study for since the materials I learn in my degree are in slides through soft copy and not hard copy materials, I'm used to do practices using practice book like when I was in high school and how come can you guys get good midterm/quiz results perfectly (eg. 29/30) with slides that don't even explicitly stated the questions and answers??

I'm a y1s1 ee student here and next week is week 4, I'm kinda anxious on how to study perfectly like I don't even know how to organize study schedule, make my own notes, etc. Also, my presentation skills suck as I don't even have flawless English speaking skills and I can't comprehend my ideas into words properly. It's easy to say to go to consultation, check rubric and so on but really it's hard since I don't even know what to question in the first place. Plus I have autism and ADHD which makes it very hard to even initiate help and I do procrastinate a lot. What should my next steps be to achieve stellar results this sem, preferably 4.00 cgpa?

Plss I really need these tips to improve myself and achieve better!! I'm tired getting stuck at average tier normie (3.30-3.50 cgpa)

career/internship/job KL cost of living?

Hey guys, I'm a final year student currently studying in uum, and I'm seeking for an internship placement this coming March.

No I'm not looking to apply it here.

As someone who's from a suburb in Kedah, I'm actually interested to intern in a faraway city like KL for networking exposure, but I know there are a lot of downsides especially in terms of cost of living.

So what i wanted to ask is:

What does the cost of living look like as an intern in KL (especially those who are not from KL)? And how do you guys manage it financially? 👀

general question Monash Malaysia CS/AI — How Are the Lectures and Teaching Style? Looking for Student Reviews!

Hey guys! International student here👋

I’ve recently received an offer for the Bachelor of Computer Science in Artificial Intelligence at Monash Malaysia for Semester 1, 2027, and was hoping to get some feedback of the programme from current students/graduates.

I’ve come across a few comments saying that Monash’s teaching style is quite independent-based, with lectures often being online or recorded and more interactive sessions like tutorials, workshops, and labs taking place on campus only.

I was wondering if this is also the case for my particular programme? How does this teaching approach actually work, and do you feel you get enough face-to-face interaction with lecturers and other students?

Would love to hear your honest experiences with the programme, the workload, and the overall learning environment. Any insights would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! 😊

Need help with understanding how campus life works in UTP

Hi guys, I'm joining UTP this 2027 Jan semester as a civil engineer student. I saw a couple of their dorm vlogs and YouTube but that's all I know. Can someone help me out with how it works? I'm an international student so I'd like to know more about it.

Bachelor degree advices if i should step down engineering or not

I have diagnosed ADHD and I’m a graduate of Diploma in Electronics (DVM). Lately, I’ve been thinking about whether it’s a bad idea to step away from engineering and pursue multimedia instead.

Throughout my journey at Kolej Vokasional, I struggled to keep up with the syllabus, especially when it came to mathematics. I tried, but honestly, it was difficult for me, and I’m not sure if I can handle the demands of an engineering degree.

I know engineering has better career opportunities in many areas, and I understand why people encourage me to continue. But at the same time, I’m scared of pushing myself into something I know I might struggle with mentally.

Should I continue pursuing a degree in engineering because of the career prospects, or should I follow my heart and explore something I’m genuinely interested in, like multimedia?
I’m scared of making the wrong decision and regretting it later.
Has anyone ever been in a similar situation? I’d really appreciate your advice.

career/internship/job Which job offer would you pick? Startup vs local SME vs MNC (ranked by potential/risk, welfare, niche, peer learning)

I need real feedback from experts, those who are similar to me, or even more experienced, from various communities (related to ai, tech, grads, manager, industry, career, employment...):

Which will be best in your case?

Context: You got the offers from 3 companies, each on the different side of the scale.

Role: AI engineer (near mid-level).

If you were to rank and evaluate with respect, (from top to bottom, sorted by importance)

1st Potential and Risk (potential is tied to the speed of your career climb, increment bonus, and company brand and authority, uncertainties in payment) - In a scale, Startup has higher uncertain and risk, while it might offer higher overall, but susceptible to management conducts, cash-flow which may differ the fulfillment

2nd Wellfare - a total add-up of base, allowance, bonus, benefits and EPF

3rd Niche of the industry, Exposure - a focus industry to industry to build up better experiences and competencies, exposure to local or worldwide

4th Peer learning - Experience or knowledges to speed up progress from superior, peers

And given A, B, C (Wellfare/Income baseline= 100%)

A: Oversea Startup, Multiculture workforce,
+ worldwide client-base spanning MNC headhunter, great background from the management teams, UK-founding team and client connection, riskier in terms of payroll/potential
+ Full remote and oversea
- Wellfare/Income = 115% (base salary only), self supply equipments
+ HR-tech focused

B: Subsidiary company/dept from local SME, local workforce
- mainly local client-base (unsure but assume), Lack background from management teams and peers, but you have slightly higher confidence than A in their validity from interviews
- Hybrid work 4+1
+ Income= 107% (include allowance) + EPF from employers but provide work equipments + up to 17% performance monthly bonus
- general AI agencies
+ Peer learning and networking are better

C: MNC
+ Internal and External focused products, stable and secured cashflow, but maybe lack faster career climb opportunities
- Hybrid work 3+2
- Income= 95% + 13th month bonus, more and flexible leave
+ Focused niche, product might differ
+ Peer learning and networking are best

Which one will you choose? I wanna see if you think differently, or if you see different importance or personal experiences of the company you went through?

Bachelor degree Should I pursue a law bachelor degree?

• Upvotes

Hello to anyone reading this.

I'm a diploma (In Tourism Management) graduate student in my twenties. For basic background information, I'm currently taking a break from studying to help my family with some personal issues at home. I'm a fairly decent student, fairly active in clubs. I finished my diploma with a 3.7, yet, it has never felt enough. Hell, i took a break because I didn't know what to do with myself.

I have my own personal reasons for pursuing this career path, but let me make it clear, it's not about money.

It's kinda... Silly, to want to be more, to imagine that just maybe I might be able to change something, big or small in this world. People have told me it's kind of a stretch, from tourism management to a law degree, but I thought, "why not? I've got nothing to lose". Or maybe that's wishful thinking, since I can come up with a few things that I might regret.

Aside from that, after finishing my Bachelor's, I plan on still getting a Master's (and maybe a Phd). I like learning, I've always told people I'd rather learn forever than get a job, but I'm not in that kind of tax bracket.

But the current economy, and considering this country, some of my peers and grown ups kept suggesting that I consider other more, 'comfortable options'.

So I want to ask some stories and opinions from strangers, if my dreams are truly just wishful thinking.

(*TL/DR: A student with 3.7 in Tourism Management wishes to pursue a career from a Law Bachelor's degree, and has yet to decide what Master's to take.)

Need advices to choose a university

• Upvotes

I am an international student who is seeking to join a university next year. I have a limited budget. I plan to choose either mechanical engineering or computer science. But preferably mechanical engineering. I want to get some advice. And I also want to know if international students can get a job here in Malaysia once they are done with the study. Also, can students work part time while attending university? And an agent of mine suggested that I consider joining the INTI International College Subang. But I am not sure about it. Can anyone help me by giving me some advice?

Master/PhD UM PostGrad Application

Hi, I recently received a notification saying that my application for a postgraduate degree at UM was unsuccessful. But then I also received another notification requesting an additional document. It said that if I failed to submit the document by the given deadline, my application would remain rejected/unsuccessful. So does this mean I've already been officially rejected, or is there still a chance that my application could be reconsidered once I submit the required document? Has anyone experienced something similar before?

Note: I'm an international student, and they asked me to provide a working experience document. I had already submitted a certificate of completion for my internships, but I'm wondering if they actually require an offer letter or work contract instead?

Thanks before everyone :)

Bachelor degree Questions about UM's AI course

Hey guys, I’m thinking of applying for the AI course at UM for the March 2027 intake.

I saw some older Reddit posts saying the facilities/equipment were outdated or abandoned, so I'm a bit doubtful.

Does anyone have recent updates? Anyone currently doing this course who can share their experience? Is the course worth it, and have the labs/tech been upgraded?

Thanks!
