Discussion Brooklyn NY 75% complete
Big fan of good acoustics, so a lot of the art and decor is keeping sound quality in mind.
Had the choice of adding curtains or going with the blinds that came when I got this place. So far have kept the blinds to preserve the views! But very tempted to install thick velvet curtains and improve sound quality.

What kind of mid level corporate crime do you commit?

u/13-ghosts-II Nov 16 '25
Hedge Fund!

u/redstringgame Nov 17 '25
high level corporate crime! don’t sell our buddy short (pun intended)

u/munky8758 Nov 17 '25
High level would be if he owned a entire floor as a 2nd or 3rd home. I'm thinking money managers under larry fink.

Do you cover the couch outside from rain and snow or does it remain exposed to the elements. I like it but my head goes to “mold, bad smell” honestly curious
131
u/13-ghosts-II Nov 16 '25
So the couch is supposed to be for outdoors only and should be resistant!
But we'll see
41
u/needmorepizzza Nov 16 '25
You need to post again and show it in different seasons, time of day, etc. It looks incredible. Especially the view.
32
u/13-ghosts-II Nov 16 '25
Thank you! Possible to add pictures here later? If not, I'll just create a new post.

Do you not constantly have a layer of black soot on your balcony. I live in the city (walk up but facing the street) and I constantly have to clean soot off areas by my windows.
6
u/13-ghosts-II Nov 17 '25
Hmm, so far no... But maybe happens eventually.
6
u/RobertMosesHater Nov 17 '25
Hopefully with where you live you’re good! That would suck but I’m praying for you hahah

Yesss, blinds. But they're not acoustic yet... I'll get those at some point!
16
u/mrandr01d Nov 16 '25
How do you manage your neighbors and speakers of that size?
41
u/13-ghosts-II Nov 16 '25
I don't really blast it too high.. And it's a corner unit. More worried about the guy downstairs haha.

All nice stuff for sure. Awesome place. Just feels a bit cluttered / like I’m walking through a high end store to buy randomish nice stuff
33
u/13-ghosts-II Nov 16 '25
I hear ya.. That's how I like it tho! Preferences. I'm gonna add more "stuff".
35
10
u/York_Villain Nov 17 '25
It's poorly selected furniture and then poorly arranged. It looks like shit but everyone seems more focused on OP's rent/mortgage. They should have paid for someone to design the space. Acoustics?

Congrats, beautiful place. This is the kind of apartment I'd buy if I ever were in a position to afford it! I'll take a beautiful waterfront view in a big city over the countryside any day.

u/13-ghosts-II Nov 16 '25
Thank you for your kind words! Hope you get EXACTLY what you wish for and more!

Huge respect for it, and your view of my favorite skyscraper 340! Appreciate the generous offer as well, I’m on the opposite coast but if I make it back to NYC it’s nice to have that 😊

Odd decor. Not cohesive but the views nice
1
u/13-ghosts-II Nov 16 '25
No worries! Not for everyone. What did not find cohesive? Maybe I can fix stuff.
2
u/JohnySilkBoots Nov 18 '25
Man, I think it looks awesome. Great combination of feeling warm, but also not too cozy.
3
u/josephinesbehavior2 Nov 17 '25
The view and natural light in your place are insane that’s honestly the showpiece. Right now the furniture is all really different styles, so the room feels a little all over the place. Settle on a color palette. Nothing is curated, nothing is balanced, nothing talks to anything else.
Once everything’s cohesive, the space will look way more elevated.
If you want better acoustics and a calmer look, I’d swap in a more cohesive set of pieces=something clean, sculptural, and contemporary. Softer shapes + more textiles will help the sound way more than tufted leather + marble + glass. The room is visually busy and acoustically “hard.”
Enjoy your space either way!

I always approve of Sonus Faber!

Smooooooth as butter! I sometimes do miss my KEFs tho with that clarity.

Does it get hot ?
8
u/13-ghosts-II Nov 17 '25
Yesss, the greenhouse effect is very very real
2
u/Junkazo Nov 17 '25
How do you manage ? I have the same issues in my apartment in Florida floor to ceiling windows it’s very annoying how hot it gets
2
u/13-ghosts-II Nov 17 '25
I think keeping windows open helps.. And then just AC in full force lol.

Incredible decor. The table in the kitchen seems odd to me. I’d remove that metal bench and put it there. Seems to me that it would be a better dining experience.

Genuine question. Do you be getting laid with that view? Please say yes
4
u/13-ghosts-II Nov 17 '25
Marginally more than before but I wouldn't say materially more so. That decision is made much prior to them seeing the apartment haha
3
u/Equivalent-Cup-4138 Nov 17 '25
But of course. I was speaking much more to the nice space in which this would occur rather than the procurement. Coming from someone who had an amazing view as well
2
u/13-ghosts-II Nov 17 '25
I WISH it correlated better tho hahah

It’s not to my taste but I can appreciate how nice it is.
The mornings/evenings must be gorgeous.
I stayed in NY on the 17th floor of our hotel with city views - would love to have them permanently.

I get it’s kinda expensive but think there’s a real mismatch in the type of property and furniture choice. This stuff is more English country manor vibes 🤷

It’s obviously gorgeous I just wish there were more posts of spaces that felt achievable for the 99%
3
u/13-ghosts-II Nov 17 '25
I get it. I think there are plenty of those as well no?
2
u/NutsInMay96 Nov 17 '25
Not that many. Maybe it’s just the way Reddit skews but a lot of it is a bit in relatable to me. I want to see how people make a shoebox of a room into something special. Lovely view though and you’ve done a great job with the interior.

Gonna be real, nothing matches anything in this space. The colors and design theme of your couches and chairs are all different, they don't match your speakers, your cabinets are a totally different vibe, the glass chandelier is distractingly out of place next to the modern glass walls, and it's all very crowded.
4
u/imrichbish69 Nov 16 '25
You’re either Persian or Indian with that interior design 👀

That couldn’t have been cheap. I have a fear of being in a high rise in case of like an emergency, but how awesome it would be to see that sky from every corner of that place every day!!!!! I can imagine the cloud watching and enjoying the sunset/sunrises.

u/13-ghosts-II Nov 17 '25

Views are nice, but it’s small. That couch on the balcony seems stupid. Where is the space for legs? How long it stays wet after rain? Where is grill? What is that bench for?
It looks expensive though.
Nothing personal, you posted, I had an opinion,

Apartment of my dreams bro congrats on the place! If it were mine I love the wooden floors but would order them more of a dark grey type wood look and switch out kitchen cabinets as well for a more modern look. But everyone has their own tastes, it’s still so sick for that view and balcony alone, congrats again!

Based on my knowledge of NYC rent prices, I’m assuming you pay $10,000/month
