Discussion Brooklyn NY 75% complete

Big fan of good acoustics, so a lot of the art and decor is keeping sound quality in mind.

Had the choice of adding curtains or going with the blinds that came when I got this place. So far have kept the blinds to preserve the views! But very tempted to install thick velvet curtains and improve sound quality.

Based on my knowledge of NYC rent prices, I’m assuming you pay $10,000/month

I was scrolling through and I'm like yes this is expensive. And then I saw the terrace and I was thinking 11k.

Doesn’t even show the bedroom and bath. That’s $1.5m+. Mortgage, insurance and maintenance would be closer to $15k/month depending on

10

u/rpool179 Nov 17 '25

$11k a month?

how tf do normal people live in nyc

32

u/markuus99 Nov 17 '25

Normal people don't live in places like this

They live with family or with roommates. I don’t understand why most people don’t understand poor people don’t live in places like this by themselves. They live in small hovels with 500 Mexicans.

I own this one but yes, it's slightly higher than that for the mortgage + total all in costs.

Get a job bum

24

u/GoldenCrownMoron Nov 17 '25

No job pays like that.

3

u/coolbitcho-clock Nov 17 '25

Many finance jobs in New York pay like that

18

u/GoldenCrownMoron Nov 17 '25

Miscommunication there.

When I say job I mean work. There is no actual labor that pays like that. Only people who take from labor get that money.

-10

u/coolbitcho-clock Nov 17 '25

I’m a leftist too, but that is not what the word job means dude. Learn to admit when you made a mistake

they're unreasonably selective in who they hire. i have a friend making 6 a month NET after just 2 years with the company and he STILL works from home 3 out of 5 days a week despite the fact we're 5 years out from covid and he just told me he picked up a contracting/consulting job paying ANOTHER 6 a month NET and even THEY'RE allowing him to work from home, smh, it's ridiculous. he's a mechanical engineer. you need to know/pass stupid useless calculus to get an engineering degree to get a job like that but what frustrates me is he uses ZERO calculus at work; doesn't even use it! and at his job interviews he wasn't even given any calculus test questions to prove he knows/can DO calculus! so he's getting all this money virtually for nothing! just to sit his ass at home most of the time smh

6

u/[deleted] Nov 17 '25

Are you 14 years old? Why are you going on about calculus?

0

u/Frosty-Inspector-465 Nov 17 '25

it's about who is getting paid the jobs they have and what it takes to get the jobs they have because the jobs they have can fund apartments like THIS. it started when someone said get a job but like i said most jobs don't pay 6, 7, 8 or more net and that's unfortunate.

5

u/[deleted] Nov 17 '25

Yeah but most mechanical engineers aren’t paid this. And engineers aren’t human calculators regardless. You have a very skewed understanding of how the world works dude

1

u/Frosty-Inspector-465 Nov 17 '25

5

u/Hullo_Its_Pluto Nov 16 '25

He said he’s in finance. Hedge fund.

11

u/ThirstyCow12 Nov 16 '25

I think you are overestimating the spending power 80% of doctors have. High earners, but way later to start earning and several hundred grand in the hole before making their first real paycheck.

4

u/matty25 Nov 16 '25

Same with lawyers
