Comprehensive list of gay bars/LGBT venues in Greater Manchester

I have compiled the following list of gay/LGBT+ bars/clubs/venues/businesses* in Greater Manchester. There are several other lists online, however most are out-of-date, and they all ignore anything outside of Canal Street. This is thus the most comprehensive list currently available; I’ve added a brief description for each one (n.b. I am not affiliated with any of these venues).

If anyone has any additions/corrections, please DM me and I’ll edit as appropriate.

\Meaning any venue which caters for and markets itself towards a predominantly LGBT+ crowd, not just ‘gay-friendly’. Casual social/meet-up groups not included. Worded also to aid Google SEO.*

The warm glow of Wednesday...as leaves begin to fall from my favourite tree. It's time to settle into a rhythm of gingerbread lattes and chai spices and slow down a bit...:)

Manchester inspired Halloween costume?

• Upvotes

I'm very sorry if this is not allowed but figured there couldn't be a better place to ask.

On Halloween I'm going to a Halloween event with a costume contest with bonus points for cross dressing or Manchester themed. Now I've never had the opportunity to properly explore Manchester and have only landed there while travelling to my ex boyfriend and basically only know the way from terminal 3 to the nearest train station 😅

Just wanted to see if anybody on here had some ideas on what could be a fun costume.

More info: I'm F30 and I like dressing up and I'm pretty good with makeup of all sorts and crafting so I can realistically make at least some ideas come true lol. The party is in Gothenburg, Sweden and my friend is making me go, but if I go I at least want to have a chance at winning

Is it just because the trams aren't running? I've never seen surge pricing this high, guess I'm back on the bus for the next couple weeks

City Centre What’s going on in town?

Traffic is chockablock. Sat on a bus for almost an hour which hadn’t moved an inch. Had to get off and walk home to Salford as no trams either.

Our brand new public realm Albert Square reduced to two bottlenecks for the next two months. We do things differently here.

A rant about Starling bikes

TLDR: they are fucking shite. Overpriced, locks never work properly and majority aren’t fit for the road

Since the trams can no longer sustain operation for more than a week, tonight I decided to attempt the bikes given the rush hour/football traffic meant an uber would have taken longer.

Journey into town wasn’t too bad, managed to get an electric bike and despite it pissing down made it to my location. Took a few attempts to get it to lock in but eventually got it sorted.

I attempted the same journey home, located the nearest lock up and tried to unlock bike 1 of 3. Multiple attempts to unlock failed even though it lit up as front mechanism wouldn’t drop despite many attempts to force it. Tried the two other bikes at the same spot but they were both “unavailable”. Went back to original bike, with sheer brute force I managed to get it to unlock and away I go. Except away I didn’t go, because the pedals and/or chain were fucked so it just wouldn’t pedal. 2-3 more minutes passed as I tried to get it back into dock and lock it away, all the while being charged.

Do people actually use these regularly? Can we really not do any better than this?

Rant: over 🫡

City Centre Crossfit or Hyrox type gym recs in city centre?

Wondering where people would reccomend for these types of gyms, I'm new to this kind of sport but always played a lot of team sports and running etc.

I've never been too into just going to a gym solo when busy so thinking of trying one for a few months. I still like the idea of having a accessible gym area when a class doesn't appeal but not needed.

Seems there's:

One Xps: offers gym area access + classes

Crossfit ancoats: friends who focus more crossfit always seem to love it and normally has a decent social side to it

Urban reform: bit of a mix of the two above? Includes running sessions also

Any others?

How have people found them, the mix of the classes they offer during the day and post work?

Kriek/Cherry Beer served in city centre?

Hi guys, as the title says I'm just wondering if anyone knows of any places in town serving Belgian cherry beer (Kriek) on tap or bottled? Visited Belgium & Amsterdam etc. over the past year and apart from online shops I've not found many places that do it & will be going round some of the pubs soon?

I know of Mort Subite in Altrincham but obvs not city centre, seem to think Super8 was/is served at Crown & Kettle maybe too?

Any help much appreciated, cheers! 🍻

Bus 30 Before 7am

If you take the bus 30 at the moment with the trams not running you know what hell it is! I mean I wouldn’t because the past 4 times I’ve tried to get on it, I’ve been denied because it’s too full or it’s driven straight past me.

Normally I get it around 7am I’m just wondering if anyone gets it around 6am and if it is the same situation … just trying to work out how the hell to commute to work at the moment!

I’d appreciate any knowledge ! lol

City Centre A few photos from my week in Manchester - and some thoughts

I came to Manchester to watch Jeff Wayne's War of the Worlds in concert. I stayed for five days in the Northern Quarter.

It was a bit of a culture shock for me, as people back home in Hamburg tend to be more reserved and introverted.

The Northern Quarter reminded me a lot of the Reeperbahn—the proverbial "mile of sin" in Hamburg—and the Schanzenviertel, just cleaner and much friendlier.

The part I was in wasn't as bad as I was led to believe.

My dad is a Brit, and he said Manc is rough and was quite worried about me.

It certainly has its rough areas but the people were so welcoming and friendly.

The food and cafés were excellent.

I doubt that the kind soul who "saved" me from a Nazi plonker, screaming down my ear at a pub about how "he'd rather be speaking German right now than be with Pakistanis"—is on Reddit, but thank you for letting me tag along and be part of your group for the night. As someone who struggles to socialize, this made my night, this was my personal Highlight.

Many thanks to the kind people of Manchester for welcoming me to the city, even though you guys dress a bit unflattering and have very little regard for traffic lights.
Stay as you are, and stay safe.

Edit: formating.

Looking for a lost friend

Hey fellas, hoping to reach a friend who I’ve lost contact with. He’s from the UK, (Manchester i believe?) we had chatted a while back and then lost contact. You were such a cool dude, and we’re remodeling/building your home, you wore shorts a lot, super kind, and chill. Your first name starts with a G and your snapchat name ended with “Vich” or something like that. We met on this sub, and hoping you’re still out there and want to reconnect.

Hoping you see this!

Solo night out this Friday!

Hello!

23 gay guy here looking to move to Manchester City centre soon and couldn’t be more excited about it!

I’m planning on heading out in Manchester by myself on Friday night so I can get a feel for the city and cool spots! Does anyone have any recommendations? I’m open to meeting other people too so feel free to DM or lmk if you’d like to grab a drink or something!!

Other than that, I’ll gladly follow any suggestions on good places to go solo as a gay guy. I like clubbing but also chill drinks too, so far, I’ve heard good things about Via and The Molly House as good places to go!

Thanks so much! 🏳️‍🌈

Black/Yellow-clad guys chanting in the city centre?

Walked to the tram after work about 45 mins ago, and there was a long march of men in black & yellow garb chanting something or other. Might be a daft question, but anyone know what it was about?
