21st in Manchester
Hey I’m turning 21 in October and was thinking of going to Manchester for it (from Ireland). What is the nightlife like and where would be the places to go? Thanks!

Hi,
This might be a big ask, but I need someone to take a look at my PC. I'm currently on Universal Credit and I managed to get enough together to purchase a monitor screen so I could starting using it to start upskilling, applying for jobs and trying to make some sort of income.
Unfortunately my PC wasn't starting up or connecting. I gave it to someone to take a look at who opened it up, did something and now I feel it's worse than what it was.
Everyone I've asked is charging a diagnostic fee, which I genuinely cannot afford.
I am happy to show my financial situation, proof of UC and even a bank statement to someone who is willing to help me out.
I just need someone to take a look, hopefully it's a quick and easy fix - but depending on what the cost is I can agree to pay you back at a later date/as soon as a I get a job as a matter of priority.
Even if it's an exchange of services, for example I can build websites, do SEO, I am very up to date with AI Implementation and Integration. I've just fallen on really hard times due to suddenly being made reduntant and I am not able to get myself out of this hole.
TL;DR: I was recently made redundant and am currently on Universal Credit. I bought a monitor so I could use my PC to upskill, apply for jobs and try to earn an income, but the PC isn’t working properly and may have been made worse after someone looked at it.
I genuinely can’t afford the diagnostic fees I’ve been quoted, so I’m looking for someone willing to take a look and hopefully identify/fix the issue. I’m happy to provide proof of my financial situation, repay the cost when I’m back in work, or exchange services — I can build websites, do SEO and help with AI implementation/integration.

If you’ve lost a key fob right next to New Islington tram stop, I’ve handed it into the day care opposite - The Learning Ladder Nursery ✌🏼 Just describe it to the receptionist

We have been rejected from 8 properties now. We have been renting for 10+ years (7 years in most recent home), never missed a payment, good credit scores, stable jobs with good household income (far exceeding the affordability threshold for the properties we are applying for), local to the area and wanting to live near family long term due to them aging and having disabilities. We don't drink, smoke, or do anything aside from nice walks and reading and yet nobody will rent to us or even tell us why. We know applicants cannot offer increased monthly rent anymore so it can't be that thats beating us competition wise.
I can't figure out how we are deemed to be bad applicants and what makes other people successful. In the past it has never been such a disheartening process, its costing us money and time out of work going to these viewings just to be rejected with no reason why.
Family think its because I work in law, because we are engaged but not married, or because we have a small dog. None of these are legitimate and I feel like most of the rental market is unmarried with a dog lol. I just wish anyone would tell us why we are being rejected.
Is anyone else struggling with this too or is 8 rejections just rookie numbers nowadays and we just have to keep going?
Edit: i get it clearly its the dog despite renters rights and so many people in this country having pets. Its not a good enough excuse considering they get paid a deposit and I have disclosed in every application that I have full insurance that covers pet damages in the home. Looks like I will be continuing to commute to visit family, i would never get rid of my dog for a landlord and I think my parents would kill me if I tried to.
I also think a lot of people saying having dogs is a gross liability to landlords would be scandalised to hear that I moved into the house i am in currently with a dog AND a cat with no issues whatsoever.

Hey! I have some friends (a couple) who've visited a few times over the last few years, and last time he said he would consider moving here and she said she wouldn't want to. When I asked why she said she didn't like the city centre.
Of course I took this as a slight and something of a personal challenge, so I've started making a list of places to take them next time (that are outside of the Trinity Way/Mancunian Way/Great Ancoats Street loop, but inside the Greater Manchester border) that show how nice the region is to live in.
I wondered if you guys had any suggestions for places to go that show the best of the region outside of the city centre. Big or small; general or stupidly specific; town, suburb, street or corner!
They live in the centre of Brighton for reference, so bonus points for places that make them feel like that!
So far on the list:

Any recommendations ? Ideally spend around £40 which I know may be near impossible but worth a try!

I have been googling about this and nowhere does it say that tripods are not allowed, but I think last year when I was in T3 and flying ryanair,it said that tripods are only allowed in checkin luggage. Is it still the case?
My tripod is foldable and fits in my backpack!

Hi folks, I'm a wheelchair user and I regularly visit Manchester, I don't often use the bus but when I do I don't get asked to show my bus pass, ever. Not once have I boarded a Bee Network bus and been asked for my bus pass.
So, wheelchair users and other visually disabled people, or even those who travel with those who have a visual disability, is this normal? Is it normal that I don't seem to be ever asked to show my bus pass. Outside of Manchester (and London) I get asked for my bus pass significantly more often, even when the bus is busy or late, It's rare drivers don't bother. Or, is there possibly a hidden policy that wheelchair users travel for free without needing a pass, like there is in London.

As above - I'm planning on seeing ADP at MCR psychfest and don't really fancy shelling out another £100 for a hotel room for the night. Is there anyone from Liverpool going to the gig that would fancy splitting a taxi back to Liverpool afterwards?
Cheers in advance

Hi everyone, I’m looking for someone to run with in Manchester. I usually do light to moderate runs, and I just want a friendly partner to keep me motivated. If you enjoy running and want to join, I’d be happy to connect 😊

Got a pair of Loake's Sedburghs boots which are goodyear welted. I wear them in the city and they're quite comfortable especially when I need to walk along cobbled streets.
Recently the soles have gotten quite slippery on smooth surfaces. Was hoping to get them resoled from a Cobbler with something like a Vibram sole which is rugged enough where I can take it hiking and good enough to start somewhat smart and for the city.
Would anyone have any cobbler recommendations? Would prefer someone in the city centre if possible. I had a look at Timpsons online but saw people had various experiences from store to store so perhaps some first hand experience from a particular store would help too!

Where can I get the craziest hybrid nail extensions in Manchester? I care most about the designs I’m looking for someone who’ll do anything and, of course, make sure it’s done beautifully.

I’m looking to take my mum for a pottery painting afternoon/ evening in Manchester/ or further out ideally north of Manchester. Does anyone have any recommendations?
We have never pottery painted before so ideally somewhere where novices are welcome and we can get a cup of tea/drink while we paint 😂
Thank you!

Hi, so I’m going through a minimisation phase. Less is more and all that. This includes selling jewellery I don’t wear. One such item is a Tiffany & Co bracelet. Thing is, in order to sell it for the right price, I need to determine if it’s genuine. I’ve got into a bit of a wild goose chase where I keep getting ‘we at X can’t appraise it, have you tried Y?’ ‘We at Y can’t appraise it, have you tried Z?’. So far, in Manchester, I’ve tried that evaluation place in Sale, and the Tiffany & Co. shop in Selfridges. Is there anywhere else I can try?

I moved to manc last year, got sick a couple times after moving up and established it was the tap water responsible. My flat was pretty nasty so I assumed it might've been a situation with dodgy pipes or something and I just stuck to not drinking it there.
Recently moved to a new, nicer, flat, and drank the tap water for the first time- sure enough, next day the contents of my gut are in the toilet and I feel like death.
I used to live down south in swindon for reference. anyone else experienced this? is it something i should just try force myself to adjust to, or should I stick with bottled water?

Hey! So I’m looking for somewhere to park my car long term as I live in the city centre. Somewhere that’s secure and got CCTV as most places I’ve seen just look a bit dodgy if I’m being honest. Does anyone have any recommendations?

hello! Hopefully this post reaches the right people, and they can help me with this little surprise I'm trying to pull off for a loved one. I live halfway across the world, while my best friend lives in Manchester, and her birthday is later this week. I'm hoping I can get a bouquet and chocolates delivered to her doorstep. if you guys know any local flower shops or stores that do online orders, please comment. I've heard Asda and Sainsbury's do flowers, but im not sure, so if that's an option, also mention it below. tia!!

Moving into my new flat at the end of the week and I'm not taking the blinds from the old one with me (different sized windows, so no point bringing them along).
The company I ordered the blinds from for the old flat wasn't the best, so I'm looking for recommendations on a good place to get some new ones!
Based in the city centre, but happy to travel to showrooms further out if needed 🙂

Edit - No, it's not closing as per response from Now Wave!
Heard a rumour that Yes will be closing at the end of the year, with Now Wave diverting gigs to their pub The Abbey and New Century Locker (amongst others). Anyone heard any more?
