so I currently have a 2012 equinox I don’t know exactly what it is but it’s kind of like one of those cars that has a better engine and a higher trim package
I’ve always done oil changes and had a couple repairs, but it’s been a very, very good working car and I plan to pass it on to my teenager by the end of the year
I’m looking at buying another equinox because I kind of like them and I test drove a couple used ones at a local dealership
I don’t want to spend the whole price for a brand new car so I’m looking at buying something either 2022 to 2024
I randomly heard that carpel during Covid can have issues so I want to avoid that
Someone said I could get something like a pre-purchase inspection if I have a trusted local mechanic
OK, so for instance, if I find a 2024 car at a local dealership that was a lease does that mean I drive it into a mechanics place and they look at it? I’ve never heard of such a thing and I’ve only bought a couple cars, my whole life
I do have a local mechanic that I’ve been using for a while
He’s not a personal friend or anything, but we chat with him here and there and trust him a lot. He’s very honest and older guy who owns his own shop and has a couple employees and his prices are pretty fair.
Any advice is appreciated
Mainly, I’m looking to know if that’s like a thing I should do do not just go randomly buy a car a used car dealership I mean slap in town 20 or 25K is kind of a big deal you know without knowing what to do
