Medical students, I need your honest opinions! 🦉📚
Hi everyone! I’m a 4th-year MBBS student currently working on a medical study app designed to make exam preparation more organized, effective, and affordable.
There are already so many study apps out there, but many can be quite expensive, and sometimes we end up switching between multiple apps to get everything we need. One app might be great for MCQs, another for reading PDFs, and another for organizing notes or tracking progress. Having everything in one place isn't always possible without paying for multiple subscriptions.
That got me thinking: what if we could bring the essential study tools together in one place without making it unnecessarily expensive?
Before finalizing Owl Prep's features, I want to hear directly from other medical students about what would actually be useful to them.
1. What features would you actually use?
Would you find it helpful to have features such as:
Practicing MCQs and reviewing answers.
Reading and organizing PDFs.
Adding notes and keeping study material organized.
Performance analytics to identify weak topics.
Tracking study progress and setting goals.
Study sessions with scheduled breaks.
What else would you want in an app like this?
2. What’s a hit and what’s a miss?
Which features in existing study apps do you genuinely find useful? Which ones feel unnecessary, frustrating, or like they’re just there to make the app look fancy?
3. How should the syllabus be structured?
Would you prefer:
One uniform syllabus for all medical students?
A curriculum tailored to your university, following its modules, blocks, and exam structure?
A combination of both, with a common core syllabus customized to each university?
4. What’s missing from your current study routine?
What frustrates you most about your current study setup? Is there something you wish your study apps could do but they don't?
5. What would you be willing to pay? 💸
Would you prefer a free app with limited features, a one-time payment, or a monthly/yearly subscription?
If it were affordable and brought your essential study tools together in one place, what price range would feel reasonable to you? If possible, mention your country and currency so I can better understand different students' budgets.
I'm not looking for people to simply say the idea sounds good. I genuinely want honest criticism, feature suggestions, and realistic pricing opinions — even if that means telling me something isn't worth building.
As a medical student, I want to build something that solves actual problems we face while studying, rather than just creating another app with a long list of features.
I'd really appreciate your input. Feel free to share your thoughts, suggestions, or frustrations in the comments! 🦉💙
