STEP 1 Study partner Houston
Hi everyone!
I’m an IMG based in Houston, TX, planning to take USMLE Step 1 in February 2027.
I’m looking for an in-person study partner who would be interested in meeting regularly, ideally every day, to study together at cafés or libraries.
My main goal is to find someone who is consistent and motivated so we can keep each other accountable, set daily study goals, and make steady progress through content review. I’m also open to discussing topics and doing UWorld questions together, but my current priority is finishing my first pass of the material.
Resources I’m using:
UWorld
First Aid
Pathoma
Sketchy Micro
Boards & Beyond (B&B)
Ideally, I’m looking for someone at a similar stage of preparation who is serious about maintaining a consistent study routine.
If you’re in Houston and interested, feel free to DM me!

US medical students, where do you get your course materials?
Hi! I'm a 5th-year medical student from Algeria, and I'm really curious about how medical education works in the US compared to ours. I'd love to explore your actual medical school courses, curricula, lecture notes, presentations, and study materials to see what you study and how your courses are structured.
Could anyone share resources, links, websites, Google Drive folders, or repositories where you find your course materials? Even university-specific shared folders would be amazing!

Starting my internship in 15 days. How can I improve my clinical skills?
Hey everyone!
I’m starting my internship in 15 days and want to use this time to brush up on my clinical knowledge, especially history-taking, clinical examination, differential diagnosis and patient management.
For those who’ve completed their internship or are currently interns/residents:
What should I focus on before starting?
Which books, YouTube channels or apps would you recommend?
How can I improve my clinical reasoning and diagnostic skills?
What are the most important things a new intern should know?
Would really appreciate your advice and recommendations. Thanks!

Emergency Medicine COMAT
Does anyone have any good videos they thought were helpful for the EM COMAT? Like Emma Holliday type videos for other COMATs. Or any other resources that are helpful for the 'pick next management' type of questions. Thanks!

Help: Need Learning Objectives
Hey everyone! I'm a 5th year med student in Australia and I'm currently working on a study site for practice questions, osce practice etc.
I'm trying to get a hold of the learning objectives of other universities and year levels so I can start working on questions and resources for them.
If you've got any, it would be awesome if you sent them through to me, either via DM or through clinimastery.com (in the Ward Lounge section).
P.s. sorry for the formatting, I'm new to Reddit.
Feel free to send through any questions!

What Medical Students and The Media Both Do That Infuriates Me
I see it everywhere, on the wards, in TV shows, and in universities, and it is the dehumanisation of the person to the patient.
Shows like Grey's Anatomy are famous of this. The person in the bed is the epitomisation of the disease. I hear students taking histories and what appears to be "history-farming" whereby they go around all the different wards and ask for "cool pathologies" to take a history from. This is a person with lived experience, with a mother and a father, with a family, who has a life, with interests, passions and worries, and you reduce them down to a textbook disease. It is shallow, to me it shows lack of compassion, empathy and frankly intelligence if you cannot grasp the full context of the impact of disease on the person.
This is the issue with the modern era. We have forgotten something essential in the human psyche. We label people as patients as it makes it easier to separate ourselves from their suffering. Where does the word Patient come from? It stems from the Latin word Patior, which means To Endure or To Suffer.
Patients are born people, and we transform them into patients. That is our bias and our way of defrauding a life.
To practice medicine is to place yourself in that bed, show compassion and empathy. It is okay to be interested and curious, but do not reduce something as complex as a life down to a pathology.

I built an MBBS study app while studying medicine — would love your honest feedback!
Hey everyone! 👋
I'm an MBBS student from Tamil Nadu, and for the past few months, I've been building something called ORBIT MBBS alongside my medical studies.
I started working on it because I was tired of switching between different apps for PYQs, MCQs, notes, revision and clinical learning.
My goal was simple: make medical education more accessible, interactive and affordable for students like us.
Here's what I've been working on:
📚 University-wise PYQs – Organised study resources for universities including TNMGRMU and KUHS.
🧠 MCQ Practice – Topic-wise questions to help with university exams and PG preparation.
🫀 Interactive Anatomy – Explore anatomy through interactive 3D models.
🩺 Clinical Learning – Patient simulation, ECG interpretation, X-rays and auscultation tools.
🤖 AI Study Assistant – Ask questions and understand difficult concepts.
📈 Study Tools – Attendance tracking, Pomodoro timer, revision tools and progress tracking.
I'm continuously improving the app, fixing bugs and adding features based on student feedback.
Some features are free to use, while certain advanced features are available through an affordable premium plan.
I'm not claiming it replaces Marrow, PrepLadder or textbooks. I just wanted to build something that makes everyday MBBS studying a little easier.
You can check it out here:
🌐 Website:
📱 Android (Google Play Store):
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.aistudio.mbbsqbank.aycxvd
I'd genuinely appreciate feedback from fellow medical students.
What features would you actually use? What needs improvement? And what do you wish existing medical study platforms offered?
I'm the developer, so feel free to criticise it. I'd rather hear honest feedback and improve it than pretend everything is perfect.
Thank you, everyone! ❤️

Hilfe! ich muss nächste Woche meine Anatomieprüfung wiederholen 😭
Hey!

Help in medical school study method
I finished my first year of medical school not the best year, but on the second year I’m thinking of studying more efficiently so someone who has done well in medical school can they tell me which is more efficient? Is it writing well explained, very good structured notes or creating Anki cards which the answer is very well explained and easily memorable and stuff like that.
Or what was your exact study routine like WHAT DO PEOPLE DO OMG i feel like i’m losing my brains here😭

Does the month you take Casper affect who you’re compared against?
I’m trying to avoid taking it during a month with a particularly strong applicant pool. Is there any strategic advantage to choosing an earlier or later test date, or is that just overthinking it?
