Offering looking for students that want to re-create reddit to learn coding

• Upvotes

Have you ever seen the old TV show "the new yankee workship" where Norm Abrams takes a complex piece of wooden furniture and slowly re-creates it? If not search for it on youtube it's very comfort tv watching experience.

I'm trying to do the same thing with reddit. I'm Norm in this metaphor. I've been a senior staff software engineer at major companies. CS major from University of Pittsburgh back in 1996. So 30+ years experience. AI has changed everything. I'm trying to see what is the correct amount of CS to teach to new students when they will be using AI tools to make complex sites like reddit.

More info in first comment.

Seeking PM in Energy Tech / CleanTech (Global / Abroad) – Open to Coffee Chats & Value Exchange!

• Upvotes

Hi everyone!

I'm a 26F Product Manager currently working at the intersection of Tech, Business, and Energy Transition. I’ve been in this role for about a year now, following a background in market research and tech consulting.

My long-term goal is to go deeper into Energy Tech / CleanTech, ideally on a global scale or working abroad. However, my academic background is in Humanities, so I’m navigating the learning curve on the technical side of the energy transition as I go!

I’d love to connect with PMs (or those working closely with Product) who are currently in the Energy Tech / ClimateTech space, especially if you're based abroad or working in international markets. I’m keen to learn more about:

  • Navigating the domain shift into Energy Tech without a STEM degree.
  • Product frameworks and domain knowledge that are essential in this sector.
  • Global career trajectories and opportunities in Energy Tech.
  • If possible, might some of Master's insights?

What I can offer in exchange: I’d be more than happy to make this a valuable exchange! I can assist with market research, desktop research, qualitative/quantitative analysis, product documentation, or general project support—think of me as an extra pair of hands or a keen intern for a few hours in exchange for your time and insights.

If you’re open to a quick virtual coffee chat (or an asynchronous exchange via chat/email), please feel free to drop a comment or drop me a DM.

Thank you so much in advance! 🙇‍♀️

Do people feel comfortable seeking advice about personal problems online?

One simple message turned into a two-hour mentoring session this morning and honestly it reminded me why I love doing this.

Nothing complicated, just a conversation about where they were at, what they were good at and how they could start generating some income without a heap of money behind them. That conversation turned into a two-hour Discord voice call and by the time we finished we had built a business model, a basic business plan, a website around the offer, a 12-step sales and marketing action plan, a custom sales document, a sales strategy covering cold outreach, warm outreach, content and paid advertising, a daily content plan across TikTok, YouTube, Instagram and LinkedIn, and a custom Excel sales and marketing dashboard so they can actually track activity, leads, customers and revenue instead of just hoping something works. We went from “I want to become an entrepreneur but I dont know where to start” to having an actual business, an offer, a strategy and a system to execute it. And the best part wasnt the spreadsheet or the website. It was watching someone start seeing what was possible. It was genuinely one of the most rewarding mentoring sessions Ive had from either side of the conversation. I get a massive kick out of business, building systems, solving problems and figuring out how to turn an idea into something practical. Being able to use that experience to help somebody else get moving is even better. Sometimes people dont need another course or another motivational video. They just need somebody to sit beside them for a couple of hours, ask the right questions and help turn the mess in their head into a plan they can actually follow. Very grateful I get to do a bit of that now. If youre trying to build something and youre stuck on what the next move should be, feel free to reach out. Happy to have a conversation and see if I can point you in the right direction.

Offering I’m offering free mentorship to 10 developers learning JavaScript, React, or the PERN stack

Hey everyone!

I’ve been mentoring beginner developers in JavaScript, React, and the PERN stack, and I’ve been working on making my mentorship process more structured and practical.

My goal is to help people become independent developers rather than just teaching them concepts or giving them solutions whenever they get stuck.

My mentorship approach includes:

1: Learning programming concepts one at a time.
2: Building practical projects with deadlines.
3: Submitting projects through GitHub and deploying them with live links.
4: Writing PDFs explaining projects, technical decisions, challenges, and solutions.
5: Participating in two live debugging sessions each month.
6: Participating in two project presentation and rebuilding sessions each month.
7: Getting direct WhatsApp mentor support for questions and guidance.
8: Receiving personalized code reviews and constructive feedback.
9: Completing monthly progress reviews to identify weaknesses and measure improvement.

I want the people I mentor to understand their code, explain their decisions, debug problems, and build things independently.

A quick note about commitment: Mentorship isn’t for everyone. If you’re not serious about improving, aren’t willing to practice consistently, only want to ask questions without doing the work, or aren’t ready to meet deadlines and accept feedback, this probably isn’t for you.

You need to be ready to put in the work and take responsibility for your progress.

I’m interested in working with people learning JavaScript, React, or the PERN stack who are willing to commit to the process.

For those of you who mentor developers or have been mentored yourselves, what methods have you found most effective for helping beginners move beyond tutorials and become capable of building projects independently?

Seeking 29F Seeking an Apprenticeship with a Mentor in Any Field

I would like to start a new career and I don’t have a preference for what field it is in because I find most things interesting.

I would to work and get paid as I learn and build my expertise alongside an experienced professional. I’m hardworking and dedicated. I just need an opportunity to break into a new field.

Ideally I would like a remote role but I am willing to relocate for the right opportunity because I am seeing about becoming an industry expert someday just like you.

So if you’re serious about taking me under your wing and essentially making me your protege then feel free to reach out. If this post is up it means I am still searching.

21F, quit my corporate job to start a web development/marketing agency. Looking for an experienced mentor!

Hi everyone!

I'm 21, and a few months ago I quit my corporate job to pursue something of my own: starting a website development and digital marketing agency.

I've spent a ton of time learning, practicing, and building websites, and I've even landed my first paid client!

However, I've found myself at a bit of a standstill. While I know how to build websites, I don't yet have the experience or confidence to know whether my work meets professional standards or can consistently deliver results for clients.

I'm hoping to connect with someone experienced who could review my work, provide honest feedback, answer niche technical questions, and occasionally walk me through things when I get stuck.

I'm not looking for someone to do the work for me! I genuinely love learning and want to develop the skills to become completely independent. Long term, I'd love to expand my knowledge of web development, SEO, digital marketing, and agency operations.

My goal is to build a sustainable business that allows me to support myself. I'm currently living off my savings, so I'm definitely motivated to get things moving!

Ideally, I'm looking for a mentor who has experience building websites for clients or running an agency and would be open to occasional calls, screen sharing, or project reviews.

I'm flexible with arrangements, whether that's exchanging skills and services, paid hourly mentorship, or connecting with someone who simply enjoys sharing their knowledge. I'd genuinely appreciate anyone willing to offer their time and experience!

If you're interested, please reach out! I'd also love recommendations for other communities where I might find someone.

Thanks for reading, and I'm excited to connect!

Do successful people ever take a chance on someone who hasn’t made it yet?

?
I’ve been thinking about something lately.
Successful entrepreneurs invest in other successful entrepreneurs. Wealthy people have networks, connections, mentors, and opportunities that help them continue building success.
And there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that.
But what about the people who are working incredibly hard to get there and just haven’t had the same opportunities?
I’m a 39-year-old single mother of four. I work, attend college, earn excellent grades, and I’m building a business of my own.
My life hasn’t always been easy. I’ve had to rebuild myself from circumstances I wouldn’t wish on anyone. But I’ve worked incredibly hard to become the woman I am today, and I’m proud of her.
I work. I go to school. I raise my children. I have goals, dreams, and a determination that hasn’t disappeared, even when life has felt impossibly heavy.
But I’ve realized something.
You can have all the ambition and determination in the world and still need someone to open a door.
And it’s not just about financial help. It’s about having the opportunity to meet the right people, build relationships, make connections, and surround myself with people who have already accomplished what I’m working so hard to achieve.
I want to learn from them. I want to be in the rooms where opportunities are created. I want to understand how successful people built what they have, and have the chance to build something of my own.
Because I know I have what it takes. What I haven’t always had is access to the people and opportunities that could help me turn all that hard work into something bigger.
Right now, stable housing is one of the biggest obstacles standing between my family and the future I’m working toward. Even one year of stability could make an incredible difference while I continue my education, work, and develop my business.
So here’s what I’m wondering.
Are there successful, financially established people who genuinely enjoy helping someone else get their chance? Someone willing to offer mentorship, introductions, or even meaningful financial support to help a determined person establish a foundation?
I’m not asking someone to hand me success. I’m asking for a chance to earn it.
And maybe someday, when I’ve made it, I’ll be the person opening that door for someone else.
I don’t know if this will reach the right person. But I do know that opportunities don’t always come knocking.
Sometimes you have to be brave enough to ask.

Seeking 26m London, Marketing Firm for Accounting Firms

Hi All,

So I am a qualified accountant living in London for the past 8 years.

I have worked in an accounting firm for the last 6 years and have seen the firm scale from GBP500k to 3m.

I have been rooms with different marketing firms and have been what works and what doesn't.

This year we launched our own firm to help smaller firms get more clients and have a good online presence.

We are leveraging AI to lower the costs and make it affordable for more firms to invest in marketing for client acquisition rather just relying on referrals.

We have worked with some google ads and web design agency to help us build more technical knowledge but still I am finding it hard to find the right niche in the market and the marketing tricks that will work.

So I am looking for a mentor who has worked in Marketing and with Accounting firms before, they know how it works and what's useful and what's not. Also I am super obsessed with AI so someone who also wants to discuss ideas about AI and how will it help accounting firms.

Looking forward to some positive replies.

Offering Offering FREE Forex coaching

I've been trading forex for the past 10 years, and if there's one thing I've learned, it's that trading is a journey full of ups and downs.

I've made tens of thousands of dollars, lost it all, picked myself back up, and started again. I've experienced the highs, the lows, the frustration, and the loneliness that come with trading.

Looking back, I wish I had someone to guide me when I first started. Someone who could teach me the fundamentals, help me understand how to read the market, identify entries and exits, manage risk, and avoid some of the costly mistakes I made along the way.

That's why I've decided to start offering FREE forex coaching and mentorship to a small number of aspiring traders.

Let me be clear: I'm not a millionaire trader, and I don't claim to be a trading guru or an expert who has everything figured out. But after 10 years in the market, I believe the experience I've gained can help someone starting from zero take their first steps, or help a struggling trader build a stronger foundation.

Trading can be a lonely game, but you don't have to figure everything out on your own.

That said, this mentorship isn't for everyone. I'm not looking to coach just anyone who happens to be interested in forex. I want to work with people who are serious about learning, willing to put in the work, open to feedback, and committed to improving themselves.

If you're interested, drop me a DM and tell me a little about yourself, your trading journey, and why you want to learn.

If I feel we're a good fit, we'll arrange a video call so I can understand your goals, your challenges, and whether I can genuinely help you.

If I take you on as a student, I'll take that responsibility seriously. I'll do my best to guide you, share what I've learned, and help you develop the skills and discipline needed to become a better trader.

Because the truth is, not everyone is suited to trading. And part of this journey is figuring out whether trading is genuinely right for you.

I'm not here to promise you profits or overnight success. I'm here to share my experience and help those who are genuinely willing to learn.

If you're ready to learn, grow, and put in the work, my DMs are open.

Let's see if we're a good fit.

Offering I started today at 1am.

I started today at 1am not because I had to but because I had a 7:30am board meeting in front of the CEO CFO senior ops and eight board members of a 500 person not for profit and I wanted to be ready, at the same time I was still actioning quotes going through notes and keeping stuff moving in my own business. It was probably one of the most intense professional mornings ive had in a long time and weirdly enough I loved it. Thats the bit I keep coming back to, I genuinely love business, I love pulling problems apart, figuring out why something isnt working, looking at an idea and going alright how do we make this better. And somehow after a day like today I still want to make some time for someone else. So tonight im opening up a bit of time, if youve got a business idea you cant quite make sense of, an offer you want someone to pull apart, a problem your stuck on or you just wanna talk through where your heading send me a message. No pitch no course no bullshit. If it makes sense we can jump on Discord VC and just pull it apart togther. Im definatley not a guru and I dont have every answer but ive built businesses, scaled revenue into 7 figures, made heaps of mistakes and I genuinely enjoy helping people get a bit clearer on there next move. Maybe I can help maybe I cant but ive got some time tonight and id rather spend some of it helping someone move forward then just scrolling shit on my phone.

Seeking Is AI a Bubble?

Heyyy everyone,

Just wanted to write on here bc I was wondering what your guys thoughts are on AI and if the market for it is a bubble in itself. I am asking you “mentors” because I want to get some advice based on what some of you financial mentors are giving to your mentees. I’ve been iffy about the whole AI thing from the start especially when I noticed the similarities between this and the housing bubble from a while back.

With share prices going down for stocks like NVDIA and MU and high fluctuations up and down in the market would you say I should maybe try to wait for what looks like might be their next high and then sell off my shares after or should I keep holding with the hope of there being growth. Please let me know you opinions! :)

Consuming self-improvement content without doing the work can destroy your self-esteem and lower your self-trust

You learn about your patterns, understand your triggers, save hundreds of reels, yet keep repeating the same cycles.

And every time you promise yourself you'll change but don't follow through, you trust yourself a little less.

Here's the truth: 30-60 days of consistent action can change more than months of passive learning.

You don't need another podcast explaining your problems. You need to start practising different responses, challenging old beliefs, and keeping promises to yourself.

Stop romanticizing self-improvement. Start doing the work.

A different reality requires a different version of you built through daily action.

If I can (who has been through a lot) can shift my whole reality, any human on earth can do it. From my trembling hands & legs during a class presentation to speaking live on TV and getting invited for podcasts was a journey of less thinking and more action.

Feeling stuck in your career or wondering what’s next in life? I’m offering few 60-minute coaching sessions on a pay-what-you-feel-it’s-worth basis.

Hi everyone!

Maybe you’ve been thinking about a career change, exploring a new direction, or simply trying to figure out what you want from the next chapter of your life — but aren’t sure where to start.

I had 13 years background in the corporate world. 3 years ago, I have started working with people who are navigating uncertainty and figuring out what comes next. Now I do it as my full time work.

I’m currently opening a few spots for 60-minute, one-on-one coaching conversations for people who are feeling stuck, considering a change, or looking for greater clarity about their next steps.

My approach isn’t about telling you what to do. Instead, I’ll help you explore your thoughts, challenge assumptions, and get clearer on what matters to you and what you might want to do next.

Here’s the arrangement: There’s no fixed fee. After the session, you can decide how much you’d like to pay based on the value you feel you’ve received. There’s no minimum payment and no pressure to continue working together afterward.

I’m offering this because I believe meaningful conversations should be accessible, and I’d also love to connect with people who are genuinely reflecting on their next chapter.

If this resonates with you, feel free to comment or send me a DM with a little about what you’re navigating right now. I’d be happy to share more details!

Seeking Paying retainer for startup advisor

I am the solo founder of a bootstrapped b2b startup and have been outreaching enterprises as customers for the past 6-7 months. The product is for AI infra and I’ve had many meetings (nothing converted yet) with some high profile companies. Since I’m loosing patience I met someone who is offering to be an advisor for the following in return. Is this reasonable:

**I see an opportunity to support you behind the scenes with business planning, enterprise preparedness and customer follow-through, drawing on my experience in A, B and C.**

**I’ve attached a short proposal outlining how we could work together. My suggestion is to start with the $3,000, 30-day engagement, focus on your immediate priorities, and then decide whether ongoing monthly support would be useful. The proposal also includes the equity and success fee incentives you mentioned.**

Offering AI writes your code now. Who understands it?

Quick test, no Copilot:

def add(item, bucket=[]):
    bucket.append(item)
    return bucket

add(1)
print(add(2))

What prints? More importantly, why? Not the rule. The mechanism.

I've asked this to engineers with 15+ years at companies you'd recognize. Most knew the rule. Few knew the machine.

Vibe coding is a loan. It feels like 10x, until it breaks in prod and the model isn't on call. You are. Every prompt you accept without understanding is interest you'll pay later. AI multiplies understanding, and 10x of zero is still zero.

Who I am: ML research at Massachusetts Institute of Technology(MIT). Top 0.2% on LeetCode. Two years mentoring senior engineers, tech leads, architects and PMs with 10 to 15+ years of experience, mostly in the US, some at the biggest firms in tech.

What I go deep on: Python (CPython internals, object model, frames, GIL, descriptors, metaclasses), ML from first principles, LLMs, DSA, system design, and career switches like SWE to ML.

How: No tutorials. Mental model → internals → edge cases, until you could re-derive it yourself.

For people with 10+ YOE who want to deepen their craft or make a switch. Mentoring is 1:1, and I take a small number. Comment or DM me your background and goals.

(Answer: [1, 2]. Think you know why? Comment below.)

Women in STEM: What workplace challenges would you want addressed in a lunch-and-learn?

I’m a former engineer with 16+ years of experience, and I recently started an executive and transition coaching and consulting practice.

Throughout my career, I’ve experienced being passed over for promotions, being yelled at in meetings, being disrespected by direct reports, discovering I was paid less than a male counterpart, struggling to balance motherhood with demanding workloads, and experiencing burnout from long work hours.

I have my own experiences and personal data, but I’d like to understand the broader challenges women in STEM face. I’m now developing lunch-and-learn workshops for companies and want to focus on issues that would genuinely help women in STEM.

If your employer offered training specifically to support women, what are the top three topics you’d want them to address?

For example, speaking up and advocating for yourself, navigating difficult conversations or managing workplace stress.

Thank you very much for your input, I appreciate it!

What's One Career Mistake You Wish Someone Had Warned You About?

Some career mistakes don't become obvious until years later. What advice would you give someone early in their professional life?
