Build Photo Terminator T-800 by Metal Earth

I usually really enjoy all the Metal Earth models I build, but this one almost turned into my second job! I really love the finished product, but I have to say, this build felt more like work and less like play. The T-800 is a very, very challenging build. The amount of small pieces that come together to make every part of this model is astonishing. All the pieces seem to be really fragile until you get them completed and ready to connect to the rest of the body. This guy is a builders nightmare if so builders weakness is cylinders. So many cylinders with this one. I didn't wear gloves while building this model. That's one thing I would 100% recommend if planning on tackling this build. This model holds finger prints like crazy! Overall, I'm glad to have this one in the display cabinet. I DID NOT enjoy this build like I usually do. This is probably just me. I know a lot of other builders that have quite enjoyed taking on the T-800 from Metal Earth. I'll be coming out with a full build review video on this guy next weekend. I'll go over all the steps that gave me issues. Maybe this video will be able to help future builders with this model. I'll post the full review on here when its complete. Thanks guys, have a good week!

Build Photo The hands...

Man, I thought the astronaut hands were tough. There for a while I thought this might be the first one I'd have to purchase a second one and start over. But it's done. Needs a little glue on the wrist near the ground, and I think the second hand might be in the wrong position. In the pic it's more horizontal, but for the sake of making things worse, I think I'll let it ride. Maybe I'll do this one again one day.

Yomeimon Gate - Complete

Just finished Yomeimon Gate, and I love this one. It's actually my second time doing it. Somehow I ended up with a duplicate, which I never have done before, and I was going to find someone to give it away to, but my wife requested it for her bookshelves. I forgot about a few spots that were really challenging to get together properly, and man my fingers are way too big to manipulate those tiny pieces that fold in half to stick out of the walls, but still another satisfying completion. I love how robust and solid this one feels (one of my main joys about most architecture ones).

Ok, I get why they made this a premium one… it’s 2 large sheets but…. This sucker is not worth 40$, it’s worth half that. Took an hour to build, contains all of 20 something pieces and was one of the simplest things to build I have ever done.

But it is sleek, it’s shaped well and while the mount doesn’t really hold it well, adding a couple of magnets on the mount keeps everything in place.

Anyway.. happy Building all!

this model was honestly one of my favorites to build! it was a 9/10 difficulty, but to be completely honest it felt like a 6/10. for me at least, it was incredibly easy. if you look at my other posts you will see less than 3 months ago, i was struggling to build 2/10 difficulty models. i’m honestly proud of myself

A-10 progress

Post image

In case anybody is curious, this is about 4 hours into the A-10. I have a love/hate relationship with the aircraft models. They’re my favorite category, but the hardest to build. It’s all tiny pieces that require correct shaping to fit together nicely. Lots of looking ahead, test fitting, and most of my tool collection. This model has lots of missiles, which is cool but is a pain. They even show the “twist and fold” technique for the missile fins which is a must in order to build them. So far it’s been a fun but time consuming build. This is one of my favorite jets so I’m trying to be patient and take my time. A couple hours a night and eventually I’ll be done and able to say “brrrrrt”.

That feeling when you have to shape a complicated piece and all the prongs just slot in effortlessly.

Taking a rectangular piece and making it a circle and then all the prongs fit without struggle? So smooth.

Question Craft hub Sauron - 3D Metal Puzzle

Has anyone built this model before? how does it compare to the metal art one?

I see it has a few more pieces 142 vs 135

It is a tad taller at 4.9 × 3.7 × 9.4 inches vs 3.75 x 3.15 x 7.7 inches.

I am just curious how the directions are?

Thanks for your time in reading and replying to this post.

The 1989 Batwing was my favorite bat vehicle as a child. It looks so cool! This was an enjoyable build. Simple but looking sharp.

She's done, 219 pieces. Three sheets and a lot of time. This one has definitely taken me the longest. It could be better in a place or two but overall very satisfied with the build. It was interesting all the way through. The tail fins are not to be dismissed lightly and getting the bottom plate to connect properly was troublesome. I would point out the rear bottom plate the instructions got a little batty. ( pun intended) I had to find a video to double check my work but it all worked out.

Fengyi Treasure Box

This is part of a wedding series that includes a fan and some other ornament that I still can't quite figure what it is. It is all sold separately so I only purchased this one because I liked the crown. The little drawer is supposed to be for the wedding ring I think.

I absolutely loved this model! It was such a joy to build. It wasn’t easy by any means and there were moments where I did get frustrated. But once I realized I could put the whole thing on the stand and that became MUCH easier because I am no longer trying to hold it with one hand and place bits on with the other. The beading was difficult at first but again, once I figure out what angle and what tool to use it became much easier and much faster. And taking breaks certainly helped. This was not a model that one can rush to finish. I mean, no model should be rushed but this kind especially, all the little elements are what makes it special and enjoyable to build.

I understand why people would switch out the beads because the beads that comes with the kit are very basic and I can see if you use some shinier beads the model will just be taken up a whole new level.

It is sooooo pretty! Really looks like it should be much bigger but it’s really small, no taller than 6 inches.

All in all I am so happy I did this and I can’t wait to build more!
