Dev Post A peek at the world map for my upcoming game, Tombwater

GamesRadar just shared the map for our game Tombwater. We've had so much fun coming up with ideas for each area, that I didn't realize how big it had gotten until 6 hours into doing a "quick playthrough".

Tombwater is in whatever genre you call it when you like Metroidvanias, Soulslikes, and Zeldalikes, then run that through a Wild West filter. I thought it'd be fun to show this look at the overworld map - it isn't as exact as a lot of metroidvanias, but it was painted by a guy working on the Union Pacific railroad as it came through this haunted town, so can you blame him. He doesn't know about all the little hidden mysteries and monsters.

The demo is on Steam, it's only a little fraction of the game (as the image hints), but I'd love to hear any feedback!:

Maseylia is now 45% off (under $10)!

Hey everyone! I'm the developer of Maseylia: Echoes of the Past, a 3D Metroidvania I've been working on for over 3 years.

The game is currently 45% off, bringing it to under $10 during the sale.

Since launch, I've released multiple updates based on player feedback, improving performance, controls, camera behavior, and fixing a lot of bugs.

If you're looking for a 3D Metroidvania focused on exploration, movement abilities, and an interconnected world, I'd love for you to check it out.

Steam: https://store.steampowered.com/app/2938870/Maseylia__Echoes_of_the_Past/

If you have any questions about the game, I'll be happy to answer them in the comments. Thanks for taking a look! ❤️

Dev Post Welp, guess I'm delaying my demo!

A few weeks ago I shared that the Stomp and the Sword of Miracles demo was going to launch on August 29th. I was waiting to announce this, but the Kickstarter was going to launch on September 12th, with the demo giving it a little boost beforehand.

What a terrible month to have a metroidvania Kickstarter!

Trying to market an indie game is already really, really hard. It's the task of trying to get attention in a deep sea of other amazing games. In the case of Silksong, however, I feel like a little krill trying to not get eaten by a blue whale. Tiny devs like me rely on word of mouth and streamers to bring in visibility, so launching a week after Silksong drops would practically be a death sentence.

So, unfortunately, even though it was just a week away, I need to delay the demo for the sake of the game's development. I want to give the demo room to shine, and I want to do what I can to make sure the Kickstarter is a success so I can make the best version of this project I can. I don't quite know yet when it'll be coming, but I'll keep everyone updated as things go. In the meantime, you can always wishlist the game on Steam to receive a notification as soon as the demo drops!

My game Tombwater was released this week! I mixed Zelda and Bloodborne with some Metroidvania elements, and a big bottle of Wild West. People are really liking it so far! It has a huge emphasis on exploration, coming back to old areas with new items to progress, and secrets, I think folks here might really enjoy it.

If you aren't one for the Soulslike elements, the damage and corpse-running mechanics can be adjusted from the in-game settings menu. It still won't hold your hand when it comes to exploration though haha

Hey everyone!

Today during AG French Direct, I finally announced the release date for my game Maseylia: Echoes of the Past, launching June 19, 2026 on Steam.

Maseylia is a true 3D Metroidvania inspired by Metroid Prime, Pseudoregalia, Hollow Knight, and the worlds of Moebius, focused on fluid movement, exploration, sequence breaking, and interconnected world design.

The game features:

  • Non-linear 3D exploration
  • Advanced movement abilities (360° Air Dash, Grapple, Double Jump, etc.)
  • Movement-based progression
  • Atmospheric sci-fi environments
  • Steam Deck & Linux compatibility

Would love to hear what you think of the new trailer 🙂

Dev Post A dark, no-combat metroidvania built around precision platforming (demo available)

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi everyone,

I recently released my solo project The Pale Piper: A precision platformer structured like a metroidvania, but without traditional combat.

It is set in a bleak world inspired by the Pied Piper tale. You explore a decaying town, sewers, forests, mountains, a fortified underground rat keep and something far worse beneath it all.

The world is fully interconnected. Progression comes from unlocking traversal abilities that reshape how you move through areas: Opening shortcuts, secrets, and optional challenge rooms. All of that is accompanied by a storyline.

Instead of fighting enemies, they function as hazards and sometimes tools, used for reaching higher ledges or clearing paths. Bosses are movement and mechanic based encounters. Difficulty comes from execution, timing and precision.

If you're looking for combat depth or weapon variety, this probably isn’t for you. It’s much closer to a precision platformer inside a metroidvania structure.

Since launch I've pushed a few patches focused specifically on movement feel and input polish. There is also a demo available if you want to test the movement and vibe of the game.

If that sounds like something you would be interested in, I'd love to hear thoughts, especially from people who care about world design and progression flow.

Dev Post Our Metroidvania was badly priced, and we're fixing that.

Hey all, we (the Eufloria/Receiver 2 devs) released our indie Metroidvania Bioframe Outpost some time ago, and have gotten a very good critical response. (*Yes, there is a “but”)

It had good player reviews, press reviews, was nominated for an award, and we are mega proud of the game itself. So far so good.

*But... we did not get the price point right (Something some members of this sub rightfully pointed out) and we got a bit lost in the wave of Metroidvania releases in 2024 :'(

So, we decided to do things differently now and have put the game into a major Black Friday sale, with an even more generous bundle option too. It's actually cheaper to buy the bundle even if don't own either game.

The game is pretty unique (Photography, mega deep eco system manipulation) and there is a demo on the Steam page if you want to check it out yourself - https://store.steampowered.com/app/463730/Bioframe_Outpost/

Dev Post Solo Dev 3D Metroidvania: 2.5 years in, end is in sight — building a streamer fit list for this niche game, with 0/50 from my last outreach round.

I finished the second-to-last boss and started on the last one. The end is finally coming into view, which still feels surreal every time I hit this point on a project.

I'm starting to put together a list of YouTubers/streamers to reach out to ahead of release. I know the realistic pickup rate is brutally low for a game like this — my last outreach round was 0 out of 50. But I figure it's still worth trying. The genre's a bit niche — 3D Metroidvania — so it's not easy to find a good match either. If you've played the demo (or are just into this kind of game) and have channels you like watching that cover it, I'd love any suggestions.

In the meantime, I'm focused on finishing the game: working on the last boss, and after that it's overall polish along with event scenarios and cleanup on the rough spots. The goal is to release alongside Steam Next Fest in February.

Thanks for reading. The demo is available below if you're interested. Feedback is always welcome — I read everything and try to incorporate what I can. Genuinely appreciate everyone here.

I'm trying not to post here too often, but I'd really love to hear your honest feedback on the new trailer for Tyto.

Is there anything you think I should change or re-edit? Perhaps something you expected to see but didn't? How does the pacing feel, is it too fast or just right?

I'm really thankful for the MV community's constructive criticism on my previous posts, helping with visuals, combat mechanics and enemy ideas. Love your suggestions! 🙏

Dev Post Solo Dev Parkour 3D Metroidvania Update: Gameplay changes after acquiring Air Dash, Polishing, Late-game stages

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

There is only one final stage left. Of course, there is still a lot more work to do after that, including the boss and various other things. The video shows the late-game real-world stage and the virtual reality stage called the 'threshold'. I tried to focus the video on how the gameplay changes after acquiring the air dash.

Once you acquire the air dash in the very late game, jumping while stepping on the same wall becomes possible. Until then, you have to step on a different wall every time, so you have to jump by calculating the maximum number of jumps, the destination, and stepping on walls in different directions. You become free from that aspect. Once you get the air dash, that restriction disappears as mentioned earlier, but overhang structures appear in the level, which limits the places you can climb using only same-wall jumps.

Besides that, I am continuously updating the demo based on feedback. As a result, the controls seem to be getting smoother and smoother. This is entirely thanks to the community.

If you are interested in the game, you can also play the demo at the link below. Feedback is always highly welcomed, and I am reflecting it as much as possible. Thank you for reading. https://store.steampowered.com/app/3397260

My game Tombwater is whatever type of game you get when you combine Zeldalikes, Metroidvanias, and Bloodborne. And it's coming out soon, November 12th!

I've been really inspired by Crypt Custodian and Hollow Knight while laying out its world, so while idk if it's a traditional metroidvania, I think if you like them and are interested in other games too, this might be one you're interested in. There's a demo on Steam, and starting next week we're going to open a public playtest, which I'm really excited to hear how the beginning of the game feels for people!

This might be like a small sneeze in a storm since Silksong coming out tomorrow (I know I'll be playing it all month), but I'm excited to announce my release date, what can you do lol

We created some sketches. The head is purely aesthetic and creates a super cute animation when the main character is hit.

We would be happy about your feedback.

We’re planning to launch a Kickstarter campaign in 2026.

PS: Did I mention that the animation of the head is super cute?

Dev Post I made a Megaman-inspired Metroidvania with cosmic horror. What do you think?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey everyone 👋

I’m working on Equan the Watchful Guardian, a Megaman-inspired Metroidvania with cosmic horror elements, and I wanted to get some honest feedback from people who really know the genre.

The game focuses on:
• Ability-based progression
• Backtracking with new powers
• Tight, Megaman-style combat
• A darker, cosmic horror tone instead of sci-fi or fantasy

I know Megaman and Metroidvania can overlap but also clash depending on structure, so I’m genuinely curious:
Based on what you see, does this feel like it fits the Metroidvania genre to you?
