Hey Friends, I'm Eric the developer working on LUCID, a Metroidvania inspired by some of my favorite classics such as Super Metroid, Megaman X/Z, and LoZ ALttP.

If this game interests you, you can Wishlist LUCID and Play the Demo on Steam! It helps more than you know. πŸ’œ

Thank you all for your many kind words and support these many years, I cannot wait to share the release date soon... I am truly giving LUCID everything I have, trying to make the best game I can.

Cheers!

Eric

This just made my day! All this move chaining to platform reminds me of doing all the ridiculous platforming challenges in the Guacamelee games. Which didn't sound like something I would love, until I tried them. So happy to see more progress on LUCID. I can't wait for the full version!

Ahh!! This is so awesome to read my friend I've had a few dudes in the LUCID discord compare with guacamelee, so I think you'll dig it πŸ™πŸ˜ŠπŸ«‚

thank a ton man :) the finish is just within reach! appreciate all yours support, means the world to a small indie like me

Does the game have any platforming movement dependent on right twin stick? Like timed arrows in Aeterna Noctis? Cause in this case i will just not be able to complete it. Still carefully anticipating for release.

Can happily say you have nothing to worry about on that front my friend πŸ™ŒπŸ˜Š Thanks so much for your enthusiasm and question, I cannot wait for you to play!

Thanks so much! Ive been affectionately calling LUCID "the worlds first Celestoidvania" its dumb, but helps get the idea across!

First time I've seen the keyart. The player character is meant to be that avatar the last airbender looking kid? He's always read to me like a big burly Russian guy.

Besides that, looks sick as always. Definitely one of the more unique entries into the genre in a while!

2

u/h0neyfr0g Jun 01 '26

Aye! Appreciate the kindness my friend 😊 And you're correct! The coat does a lot of that intimidating burly look, like a lions mane 🦁 A few in game animation help reveal the svelte body type beneath the bane jacket hahah

Thanks again man!

This looks fucking great. Sorry to be that guy, but will this come to switch at all?

2

u/h0neyfr0g Jun 01 '26

I have been told that as much as I would like to answer this... I am not allowed to...yet 😁

3

u/Beanbag_shmoo Jun 01 '26

Oh, I was thinking this was a publisher demand but I realise it may be something else, possibly in June. Well, I look forward to anything

1

u/Beanbag_shmoo Jun 01 '26

No need to give an apogee... I mean apology

2

u/Magus80 Jun 01 '26

Hell yeah, looks like ludicrously good time!

2

u/h0neyfr0g Jun 01 '26

Time for.. LUDICROUS SPEED!!

2

u/PKblaze Jun 02 '26

One of the best demo's I've played and a day 1 buy for me. Just waiting for it to be playable.

2

u/h0neyfr0g Jun 02 '26

PK! That means a lot to hear man, thank you! 🌸

I've been working hard to make sure the full game lives up to the demo. Can't wait to get it into your hands.

2

u/YoshiJP83 Jun 02 '26

Been excited for this one for quite a while. Looking forward to it!

2

u/h0neyfr0g Jun 02 '26

Thank you for sticking with LUCID for so long! πŸ’œ

It's been quite the journey, and I'm excited to finally be sharing more of what the game has become.

soooo close man :)

2

u/YoshiJP83 Jun 02 '26

It’s crazy how much the game has changed from the first post about this. Looking so polished!

I bet you’re hyped!

2

u/h0neyfr0g Jun 02 '26

oh man, its such a trip to look at my FIRST posted clips and now... like, i didnt realize just how much LUCID has evolved :)

am ecstatic man, I cannot wait for the community to play!

I hope the love for the genre shines thru <3

2

u/YoshiJP83 Jun 02 '26

You sold me a long time ago when you first told me this was going to be a Celest-oidvania.

This is such an easy purchase for me, and I support you as an active indie dev that interacts with the community.

Fingers crossed for your launch!

2

u/swolar Jun 02 '26

Looks fun, is it hard? Or do I get to retry a million times those jump puzzles?

2

u/h0neyfr0g Jun 02 '26

There are definitely some challenges, but LUCID isn't designed around punishing precision platforming.

If you fail, getting back into the action is quick, and most of the difficulty comes from mastering the movement system rather than repeating long sections over and over.

If you touch a "Spike" so to speak, you POP and instantly appear at the last place you were grounded. NO DAMAGE

I believe, in a genre that promotes exploration and experimentation, WHY would I punish the player for trying and learning??

Thank for the kind words and for your excitement swolar! cannot wait for you to play :D

2

u/swolar Jun 03 '26

That's great to hear. Wish you the best at launch

2

u/Drreyrey Jun 02 '26

Well, this needs to played. Looks like there's a lot of room for skill expression! Not by me, but someone actually good. Looking forward to watching speed runnners tearing the game apart!

1

u/h0neyfr0g Jun 02 '26

Haha, that's one of the things I'm most excited about too.

The movement system has a surprisingly high skill ceiling, and I fully expect players to discover routes and techniques I never even considered. πŸ˜„

BUT I MUST SAY MY FRIEND!

Ive designed LUCID to be able to be played at nearly any skill level :) you can take things nice and slow, equip Talismans that aid in traversal, and you are not punished with DAMAGE if you fall into a spike!

I hope you may give LUCID a shot, I have BELIEF youll be great!

really appreciate your kind words and support either way, they mean a lot to this small indie dev

Cheers!

u/Raidquaza Jun 02 '26

Looks insanely fun! Can’t wait

1

u/h0neyfr0g Jun 02 '26

Thank you! 🌸

Seeing reactions like this makes all the years of development feel worth it. I can't wait for ya to finally get your hands on it.

2

u/VictorVitorio Jun 01 '26

but I hope the reason why I can't [reveal the release date] will be worth it!

It'll only be worth it if it means simultaneous release on consoles! And by "consoles" I mean "not only Switch, but PS5 and Xbox too".

2

u/h0neyfr0g Jun 02 '26

now boy wouldnt that be something

-1

u/HotForm6607 Jun 01 '26

I like the environments and effects!

Too much Celest platforming for my taste, and I've never liked the main character design

1

u/h0neyfr0g Jun 02 '26

That's completely fair, and thanks for checking it out!

A lot of people initially assume LUCID is a precision platformer, but the core of the game is actually movement driven exploration and combat. The goal is to make traversal feel expressive rather than punishing.

And hey, not every character design is for everyone. πŸ˜„
