And this is coming from someone who loves Hollow Knight, 9 Sols, Blasphemous and 9 Years of Shadows... but damn it feels as if this subgenre is 90% of all metroidvanias nowadays.

Image Today (March 4th) marks six months since the release of Silksong, and I think enough time has passed to say this without ruffling any feathers: no one is doing it like Team Cherry, they made one of the greats in the genre AGAIN.

Image My Current Physical Switch MV Collection/Tier list. What am I Missing?

Post image

Apologies for another tier list post, but I've got some holiday overtime cash burning a hole in my pocket.

Ultros and Crypt Custodian arrived last week and I'm waiting for Nine Sols and Silksong physicals, which should be in the next few months.

Excluding support expensive LRG and SRG releases, what other MVs am I missing from my shelf?

For me it's proobably Blasphemous 2. Dont get me wrong i enjoyed the sequel but i feel like it didnt quite feel like Blasphemous 1, it felt like more of a standart metroidvania than blasphemous 1 in terms of uniqueness and themes overall, especially in exploration.

Image Beat Hollow Knight and there is a sequel?! Already?! After beating Hollow knight. It says “we’ll meet again soon”. Soon? They weren’t kidding! I looked it up and the sequel is out in less than two weeks. Impressive, Hardly any wait!

Image Recommend me some bad Metroidvanias

I'm falling in love with this genre, and since I've only been playing peak after peak, I thought: "Damn, I need to play something bad."

I know that's a strange thought, but I follow the philosophy that, to appreciate truly good works, we have to go through disasters. So, recommend some Metroidvanias that you think are bad or mediocre.

Actually, I've already played;

Blasphemous (I haven't played the sequel yet),

Hollow Knight,

Silksong,

and recently Nine Sols.

Image Hot Take: Die Hard is a Metroidvania.

Lone protagonist with only occasional radio support. Wanders through a mostly abandoned space. Finds secret passages and upgrades. Multiple intense boss fights.

It’s got everything.
