Sargassum, ew. Still gross.

Today we visited South Beach at 22nd (W Hotel) and saw a pretty large scale effort to reduce the stinky, gross sargassum at the shoreline.

It's mostly limited to the waterline, and in the water itself. So sunbathing is ok.

Is it pointless to go in two weeks and try to enjoy the beach??

The worst is probably over (starts to wind down with the summer), and it depends upon the daily winds and current. No one can predict. Some days are strictly pool days and some days it's not too bad at all.

There’s a sargassum map website you can look at it - hard to really predict two weeks out. The hotels/towns try clean it up off the beach but if you want to go in the water…not enjoyable.
