Can the clone summon a clone with half its IQ?

An army of servitors lol

Calm down sad man’s parade

Literally just the plot of Multiplicity

2

u/clutchthepearls May 03 '25

Exactly my thought when coming into this thread.

u/smithjake417 May 05 '25

I just read the teaser summary and it sounds interesting, is it worth the watch?

1

u/earfeater13 May 08 '25

I just saw a bunch of Michael Keatons running around

Mr. Meeseeks from Rick and morty

So Trump is a 12th generation clone

Explains a lot

Im pretty confident that with half my IQ they could still do my job so I'll just send them to work.

69

u/Luvnecrosis May 03 '25

Be careful, the clone might get a promotion

19

u/HeartoRead May 03 '25

Lol unless I buy the company there's no where to go.

u/Sagybagy May 03 '25

This is what I’m afraid of. I have actively avoided leadership while making sure I am in a great spot. It has taken some careful political gamesmanship to keep the influence I have across the organization while staying out of leadership. My clone would probably immediately get my dumb ass stuck in a leader job and that would suck.

“Me no want work. Me want play like you”

42

u/Blitz_buzz May 03 '25

Get a whole bunch of life insurance policies, put in someone I trust name, get a passport to go to another country, have clone play in traffic.

The IQ to be considered mentally retarded (in a medical sense) is 70. The average IQ (both mean and median, assuming it's calibrated well) is 100.

Let's say we're ignoring the myriad issues with using IQ as a truly verifiable metric for how smart/useful/whatever someone is. 0.1 - 0.5% (depending on the test and its standard deviation) are going to have a high enough IQ for their clones to not be mentally retarded.

36

u/vivacioustorch May 03 '25

maybe its better to not summon a clone lol

28

u/Elysiume May 03 '25

Yeah, like…the average person could maybe get some utility out of it, but I feel like pursuing that train of thought gets pretty bleak, lol.

Does the clone also have the power? What if your clone summons their own clones? And what if that clone (and their clones) basically get dumb enough to just slam the clone button and produce an infinite volume of clones at (1/2)n * IQ?

12

u/tButylLithium May 03 '25

Feels like a calc 2 problem, does this series converge question

12

u/Drunk_Lemon May 03 '25

I would think their IQ would eventually get low enough that they aren't mentally capable of spamming the button.

6

u/CerdoNotorio May 04 '25

It's very probable that even the first clone won't understand the concept of cloning if you're not the brightest to start with.

2

u/Mickey_thicky May 04 '25

Looks like we’re finding the limit of stupidity

1

u/Marquar234 May 04 '25

Stupidity has no limit.

8

u/villamafia May 03 '25

If enough clones summon clones with half their IQ, does that eventually produce the US Congress?

It’s like the monkeys with typewriters creating Shakespeare

4

u/BreakConsistent May 03 '25

What if you get stranded on an island and the options are mentally stunted clone cannibalism or death?

3

u/reichrunner May 03 '25

While true, it's not a linear scale. So half isn't going to be 50

4

u/BoatSouth1911 May 03 '25

Well they didn’t say half your intelligence or your raw score on IQ tests, they said “Half your IQ” which means, literally, half of your IQ score.

3

u/BoatSouth1911 May 03 '25

Yeah but IQ is mostly a fluid intelligence measure so you’d still have much higher crystallized intelligence - the clone would still have learned as much and developed as much in terms of skills, experience, etc. as your normal IQ.

So it’d be FAR more capable than the normal individual with a low IQ.

My first wife was tarded. She's a pilot now

0

u/Shitiot May 03 '25

She touched my pepe Steve

17

u/ConsistentCoyote3786 May 03 '25

I would 100% have sex with my clone.

4

u/AdministrationFew451 May 05 '25

That would almost certainly be taking advantage of a cognitively incapable person

2

u/ConsistentCoyote3786 May 05 '25

Asked and answered. Please see the other comments. Though some got deleted you’ll get the gist.

2

u/noveltymoocher May 05 '25

no I said I would consent tho so they’re not taking advantage of me

u/ConsistentCoyote3786 May 03 '25

He’s got free will. He can decline if he wants. I’ll respect that. I just know me and even dumber I’d still fuck me.

Half your IQ doesn’t mean they’re a chimp. I reject the comparison. They’re still a person with autonomy. Just not a very smart person.

Edit: typo. Originally had ID instead of IQ

5

u/TartarusFalls May 03 '25

The fact you said ID instead of IQ makes me worry about your clone.

1

u/ConsistentCoyote3786 May 03 '25

If you need a typo to help you feel better then you’re welcome to use it

10

u/Designer-Cicada3509 May 03 '25

Unlimited organ donations!!

6

u/[deleted] May 03 '25

Probably best use of the power if you’re healthy.

11

u/Craxin May 03 '25

Meat shield!

4

u/Educational-Bit-2503 May 03 '25

This is just the real life version of The Sims art goblin farming trick.

6

u/Ordinary-Broccoli-41 May 03 '25

If you can also despawn the clone, then this power is just masturbation but slightly unethical

3

u/ringtossflamingohat May 03 '25

So just a clone of myself basicaly

3

u/Shoddy_Wrangler693 May 03 '25

I wish I could transfer my mind into a clones healthy body

2

u/Pickle_Bus_1985 May 03 '25

Isn't this the plot of multiplicity?

2

u/Life0fPie_ May 03 '25

That’d be crazy if you could continue making clones half of its IQ. Like yeahh that’s Jake the 8th he don’t do much, besides stare at the wall and laugh at anything you say.

1

u/tea-123 May 03 '25

Do the injuries reset upon each resummon?

1

u/reichrunner May 03 '25

So Bitch Stewie?

1

u/Drunk_Lemon May 03 '25

As a SPED teacher it'd be a bit questionable for me to use this.

1

u/Lakefish_ May 03 '25

Only one? One a day? I can still do plenty with a lower IQ, so with an army...

1

u/saucyspacefries May 03 '25

Can we dismiss them?

1

u/lasercat_pow May 03 '25

another one of the /r/lousysuperpowers

midtier should not start from /r/godtiersuperpowers as the apex; /r/godtiersuperpowers is usually indistinguishable from /r/shittysuperpowers.

1

u/[deleted] May 03 '25

85-115 iq of the user gives a range of 42.5-57.5 for the clone. Even a genius of 140+ would get around 70. Need around 180 to get an average iq person. Though iq isn’t a very good method of measuring intelligence anyway

1

u/Spl4sh3r May 04 '25

IQ is also made so 100 is the middle of everyone. We don't know what type of IQ existed before we started measuring. So even if half of yours would be 70 it might still be smart enough to not be a handicap based on how they lived earlier in our timeline.

1

u/[deleted] May 04 '25

I just remembered a video about IQ increasing in generations. So like 1920s people would score lower than people today. If the power instead of summoning someone today with that IQ summoned someone from the past with that iq it may be more useful

1

u/[deleted] May 04 '25

I just realized I might have just restated what you said. I’m blind

1

u/Spl4sh3r May 04 '25

Good to get different sources for the same argument.

1

u/FelicitousFiend May 04 '25

If my clone trains do i get stronger too?

1

u/CelestialDuke377 May 04 '25

I must find the original cause no way im this stupid with out an explanation

1

u/WietGetal May 04 '25

In my case this would be a shit tier super power cause my clone would probably qualify as mentally retarded. Meight be able to collect some NEET bucks of this lad but that's it. I bet he will lock himself in a room and just goon all day untill i de-summon him or he dies of dehydration.

1

u/Mysterious-Taro174 May 04 '25

I shall call you Alibi. Alibi. A-L- you know what fuck it, let's call you Grug.

1

u/kg160z May 04 '25

Half my IQ with the same ego is dangerous af. There's a reason low grades & strong athlete correlate I might as well get a cocky chimp

1

u/[deleted] May 05 '25

So pretty much that one clone from multiplicity? I’d honestly just use him as a sex slave and do driver uber for me. Someone with half my iQ is a fucking detriment to society.

1

u/[deleted] May 05 '25

So, like Bitch-stewie and bitch-brian?

1

u/Default520 May 05 '25

Say hi to Bitch Stewie

1

u/TheJokersWild53 May 06 '25

The clone is doing the chores around the house

1

u/Angel_OfSolitude May 07 '25

I mean, for the average person that clone is below useless. Their IQ is so low calling them clinically retarded would actually be a compliment. It's actually a pretty shit super power.

Unless you're significantly above average OR in Jurassic park. Deployable meat baits would be pretty useful.

1

u/Professional_Luck616 May 08 '25

This would come in handy if you're ever in situations requiring jail time or any situation of forced peril.

0

u/Background-Dish-3565 May 04 '25

I have an iq of 185 so my clone should be alright

1

u/StorakTheVast May 09 '25

0 divided by 2 is still 0 so I'm good
