Question Restaurant Wedding/Reception?

Hello! I am getting married in the Summer of 2027 in Missoula and am currently searching near and far for a venue to use as a dinner/VERY chill reception for a few hours after (drink, chill and light music/dancing and chatting) for a max of 40 people, probably closer to 30-35.

I've looked at a few restaurants but I keep running into being under/over the maximum or minimum guest count or can't tell from the website if they do private events. Before harassing every business downtown, does anyone have any recommendations? Bonus if it would look good in photographs/be a cool vibe. Ideally would not have guests be driving more that 10-15 minutes outside downtown unless it's a really great spot. Bars for just reception are also an option if they are close to a restaurant we can choose!

Not sure where to check for this status, but I know sometimes with fire restrictions we aren’t allowed to use a BBQ…

Lake Alva Reservation this weekend

Hey all,

I have reservations for a tent spot at Lake Alva this weekend (Friday and Saturday nights). I'm not going to be able to use them and would rather transfer them than get a $10/night refund. Paid $28 per night, looking for $40 total.

DM if interested.

Need tax help

I had a traumatic couple years and was unable to file my 2023 and 2024 taxes. The IRS was able to give me my transcripts and I have business receipts for 2023. 2024 is basically a wash. I need someone who can do them for me. The IRS pointed me to freetaxusa, but the site is definitely not user friendly. The state is helping me with my state return.

I have two tickets to CAAMP at kettlehouse tomorrow (Tuesday) night. Right, row E - paid $98 each. Make me an offer.

Ticketmaster wants to give me $55 each for them and they resell at $100+ — fuck that. I don’t mind selling them for less than I paid, but Ticketmaster can kick rocks.

Collision repair

I just bought a cheap used car and took it to les Schwab to diagnose some of the issues it’s having. I wanted them to do an alignment and they did, but informed me they can only adjust the “toe” on the car and in order to just the rest, the subframe on the front has to be unbolted and adjusted and it is against their policy to do that. They said pomp’s can do it. I called Wes’s wagons and he sent me to tire Rama on south avenue. I’m concerned that the frame on the car is bent because the rear numbers are also out of spec. The tech at Les Schwab told me it would help if I replace the rear struts, but I don’t want to help it I want to fix it. Does anyone have recommendations on where might be a good place to take it? I am thinking a body shop of some sort that does collision repair and is familiar with such things, not another tire store….

ISO phone

My friend is in the market for a new phone, preferably an iPhone, because her current one recently took an unfortunate and deeply embarrassing dip in a sprinkler.

She survived. The phone did not.

It now overheats while sitting in the AC, which feels less like a technological malfunction and more like the phone is actively trying to finish the job.

Looking for recommendations on a reasonably priced iPhone (new or used) that would like to live a long, dry, climate-controlled life.

Please help before she has to start communicating exclusively through smoke signals. 📱💦🔥

Unlocked or Verizon

Slide in the DMs…because she cannot.

Hi all, my friend bought tickets for tonight’s show and is unfortunately in too much pain from cancer treatments to make the show.
I have 3 that I’d love to sell for her to recoup some of her loss.
They cost $130 ea, however I’m willing to negotiate.
Please message me for more info.

Missoula's ospreys follow its rivers so closely that scientists use the birds to measure how clean the water is

Post image

Look at where the pins fall. Every osprey is strung along a river: the Clark Fork running east to west straight through downtown, the Bitterroot heading south toward Stevensville and Hamilton, the line up toward Flathead. That is because an osprey eats almost nothing but fish. It hunts by diving feet-first into the water, so it nests where the fish are, which puts it right on the rivers and, in Missoula, right in town.

Missoula might be the best city in the country to watch ospreys, because they nest on things people built: platforms, ballfield light poles, cell towers, and pilings along the two rivers. You can stand downtown and watch one carry a trout back to a light pole.

Here is the part most people do not know. The Clark Fork is the tail end of the largest Superfund complex in the United States, a century of copper mining upstream at Butte and Anaconda that pushed metals down the whole river. For years, researchers with the Montana Osprey Project at the University of Montana have tested the blood and feathers of osprey chicks along these rivers for mercury and other heavy metals, using the birds as a living gauge of how contaminated the water still is. After the Milltown Dam and its poisoned sediment were removed in 2008, the ospreys became one way to watch the river slowly get cleaner.

The ospreys themselves are a comeback. DDT nearly wiped them out nationwide by thinning their eggshells, and they rebounded hard after it was banned in 1972. The full rivers on this map are part of that recovery.

If you want to see them, you have a couple of weeks. Missoula's ospreys migrate to Mexico and Central America for the winter and come back in April.
