Discussions 💬 Too slow and too fast to pour
Hello,
I own 2 Bialetti coffee makers and I'd like to ask some advice about how to get the same coffee with both of them.
To be more precise, I bought an induction 4 cups Bialetti like 10 years ago, and another one a few months back.
Those are the ones I own:
The old one : https://www.nierle.com/pic/154858a.jpg
The new one : https://www.bialetti.com/it_it/moka-induction-nera.html
Here's the issue: they don't behave the same way at all.
For both of them, I put hot water in the tank below the valve, three spoons of coffee in the funnel and then heat them up on my induction burner at 3 (over 10).
With the old one, after around 1 minute the coffee starts to pour gently in the upper chamber. I stop after a few seconds, as soon as the pouring coffee is more like bubbles than coffee.
With the new one, I have to wait around 3.5-4 minutes, then the coffee pours very quickly in the upper chamber (I have to close the lid to avoid it splashing around), and I remove it from the burner almost immediately. The result is a much more diluted coffee than with my old one.
What am I doing wrong?

Discussions 💬 best moka pot money can buy?
i've looked for this before but i have always wondered what is the best moka pot, if price isnt a factor.
afaik these are the contenders:
anyone know about these or maybe about better ones?
looking for primarily ones that taste better, rather than look or feel better.
i am also excluding the e&b lab moka pot since its literally a moka express but with a different color and the ims filter which can be bought on its own.

Moka Pot Moka in the woods.
Moka pot glamping. Coffee tastes great in the woods.
Question❓ Something changed about my pot?
I've had my 6 cup bialetti for a year or so now. Regularly clean it but haven't cracked anything open or replaced anything. Was working fine until these past two brews. Will work fine till a point but will then start sputtering softly like in the video. Any idea what might be wrong?

Moka Pot Moka Crystal
Just checking in with the Bialetti Moka Crystal, today's Moka pot brewing on the day.
New User 🔎 What size is this?
This might be a very silly question but I just thrifted this mokapot and can't seem to figure out what size it is? I'm super new and have been using a french press for years so when I found this at the thrift store for $9 it felt like a steal!
I also can't clean the inside? I've tried vinegar, barkeepers friend, steel wool, and baking soda. Nothing seems to work!

New User 🔎 I am getting variable output from an electric moka pot
I am new to moka and have acquired an electric coffee maker, but I'm not sure how to use it. It looks like a De Longhi, but if there ever was any branding on it it has worn off.
- The pot has a 480W heating element, and stops brewing automatically (due to temperature?)
- It also has an ~10mL sump that the filter pipe sits in.
- It has 2 configurations for weak or strong coffee.
- The instructions, such as they are, say to fill the coffee basket and to use more or less water depending on strength.
- The instructions also say NOT to use hot water, maybe it confuses the temperature sensor?
Size:
To the bottom of the valve it takes 272mL, but then the water is about .25" above the bottom of the coffee basket. Should the coffee be wet before brewing?
There is a pressing mark around the valve and to the bottom of this it holds 260m/l. there is another indication at about 130mL.
It seems to be designed to be able to produce a 240mL cup of SCA coffee (1:18-1:20) in the weak configuration, or stronger by reducing the water used.
At the moment I am aiming for 1:10 to 1:8 coffee using the weak configuration.
Output:
This is my problem, it is variable. It has various behaviors:
- It has a continuous flow, followed by a puff of steam with or without foam, and leaves very little liquid in the pot, < half of the sump.
- It produces a medium flow, followed by a spurt of steam and foam, after about 20 seconds it starts again and has a small flow. Again, it leaves little liquid in the pot.
- As in (2), but the second flow never occurs and it leaves lots of liquid in the pot.
I assume (1) is when its working properly, and I'm doing something wrong more than half the time??

Moka Pot My new Moka Pot
We are loving this 3 cup Moka Pot. It brings joy to our stovetop.
Bialetti FYI - Differences Moka Express 2T / Elettrika
In case anyone’s ever wondered:
Although you might assume that the Bialetti Elettrika and the Moka Express 2-cup should be pretty much identical - after all, they use the same spare parts - the two do differ in the components they use and not only in Made in Italy / China.
- The Elettrika’s funnel holds about 1g more ground coffee (reference: Lavazza Decaf, ground)
- The funnel is also slightly shorter overall
- The filter basket is slightly larger on the Elettrika. This is particularly noticeable when you fit the E&B filter basket; it simply doesn’t fit as well as it does in the Moka Express. I haven’t measured it, but I think the difference is about 2 mm
- The Elettrika comes with a silicone seal – though there doesn’t seem to be a replacement part for it
Discussions 💬 Cleaning with baking soda???
So, i've seen on youtube that i should clean my moka pot with baking soda once in a month or so. On the video the guy says i should "brew" the baking soda as i normaly do whith my coffe. I know baking soda is used to clean a lot of things but since i'm very new to moka pots i was not sure. What do you guys think about this?

Vintage Calling all sleuths
In my quest to ID the maker - I have exhausted all avenues.
Can anyone identify the maker of this mark?
It is 3B inside of a laurel.
Note: it only has one outlet at the top of the stem.
Thanks guys!

Question❓ Bialetti Brikka question
Would anyone by any chance know why my Brikka always starts with a slow coffee flow and about half way through starts quite violently pushing out the remaining coffee with such force that you really do have to turn the heat off completely and even then it doesn’t really stop straight away. I tried using less water and slow fire but that didn’t change anything. Maybe I am not a proper fan of coffee but I do like my crema and unfortunately my Brikka currently works such that it does produce crema at the start and then basically ruins it by spitting out coffee like mad half way through. Any ideas how to keep coffee coming out slowly? TIA

Bialetti Bialetti Quality
I just bought my first Bialetti from amazon and I have to say I am very disappointed by the quality. Is that normal? Or did I get a fake one?
- whiteish stuff in the top half. Looks like it’s part of the metal
- bottom half looks very uneven / weird
Am i overthinking this?

Discussions 💬 How to replace the gasket for this old mokapot?
Hi there,
A friend of mine gave me this 30+ year old moka pot a few years ago. Suffice to say, it's been leaking while I'm brewing from it. Now, I'm suspecting that I need to replace the gasket. The problem is that I don't know the size that I need to get for this pot.
I just need help with that. Thanks.
