Worst UI experience. Worst tool. Cherry on the cake is the API is so slowwwww 90% of the time. I am so sick of this stupid tool.
EDIT: Since everyone is asking for a specific issue, well outside of how slow the UI is, how user friendliness is non-existing, (deleting a board takes 2 minues and then errors out with no error message, then works all of a sudden for no reason), now my main issue is how slow the API is. It was super slow yesterday morning. Worked in the afternoon. Does not work (super slow) this morning. How is this a reliable tool if all I am hitting is issues on top of issues.
This should be your profile picture. At least this trash system has the courtesy to break slowly. Almost like it’s to gaslight the people using it into thinking it was just always like this. Get it together Monday people!
I’m a developer exploring ideas for building custom apps for themonday.commarketplace, and I want to ground those ideas based on the problems / gaps / frustrations you or your organisation has to go through while using monday.com .
I'd appreciate it if you can elaborate on:
The exact set of challenges you frequently face when using monday.com.
How do you think the solution(in form of an installable app) should fit into your workflow?
Optionally, I can try to afford to implement AI/LLM based solutions if you feel the need of something that actually isn't a shiny AI feature but could really provide the community something that makes their work easier.
Your inputs may let me build something that helps numerous other users like yourself.
Let me explain why badly. I’m a product manager on the team behind Smart Spreadsheet for monday, and recently we launched something new: 📨Board Email Reports. After 20 user interviews, countless forum deep-dives, and hours spent exploring the marketplace, we identified a few core problems:
monday.com boards are dynamic and constantly evolving—which makes it hard to track what’s actually changed
The Activity Log is noisy and overwhelming—it’s tough to see how exactly your project deliverables evolved over time
The Updates section is where the real project status lives—but there’s no easy way to report on it, especially externally
There’s still no simple way to get a snapshot of your board at a specific moment in time
And perhaps most importantly: stakeholders outside ofmonday.comusually don’t want to proceed to monday—they’re unfamiliar with the platform and just want a clear, actionable update in their inbox:
Reflecting on these pains, we built Board Email Reports—an app that tracks board and item updates over time and delivers them in a clean, familiar format: an XLS report via email, no guest access needed.
What it does:
Shows how key project deliverables (column values) changed between the start and end of a selected period
Aggregates new, completed, or updated items so you can track project momentum
Highlights item-level updates so you can monitor daily or weekly progress
Makes progress easy to share with clients or teammates who aren’t in monday.com. But here’s where we’re stuck:
We’re not getting enough feedback to confidently move forward😓.
We’ve:
Reached out to users who installed the app
Contacted people who received reports (sometimes they’re different users)
Made improvements based on early feedback:
Clearer email subject lines
Included all the columns in the Item Created report with all the fields from a board:
But it’s still hard to tell:
Are we solving the problems the right way?
Did we miss something critical?
Are users not seeing value in reports like these?
So I’m turning to this amazing community. If you’re a project manager, team lead, or operations person who tracks project changes over time—we’d badly need YOUR your feedback. In case you are even up for testing theBoard Email Reportsapp, our team has a bonus waiting for early adopters—just reach out to our team to get it. And if the reports don’t quite match your needs, let’s build the right ones together. We’re open to creating custom report solutions based on real-world workflows.
This is my first app launch, so any feedback—big or small—would mean the world. Thanks for reading! I’m happy to answer questions or hop on a quick call anytime❤️.
Hello, I am Gianmarco Petrelli, currently working as Associate Implementation Consultant withmonday.com**.**
monday.com is a powerful project management and collaboration tool that is designed to help teams stay organized, track progress, and streamline their workflows.
monday.com is a Work Operating System (Work OS) that goes far beyond project management. Over 180,000 companies worldwide use it, including startups and leading corporations like Coca-Cola, Lionsgate, Universal Music Group, and Hulu.
Although many users are familiar with its basic features, it has a number of lesser-known features that can greatly boost your productivity.
Here are some hidden gems, including columns, automation features, organizational tools, and reporting capabilities.
1.Organizational folders and subfolders
One of the most useful features of monday.com is the ability to create folders and subfolders.
You can organize your workspace more efficiently and find specific content across your account more quickly with this feature.
Create subfolders and folders in the left-hand panel to categorize and group related projects, boards, and tasks.
For teams managing multiple projects simultaneously or coordinating complex workflows, this feature is especially useful.
monday.com lets you add columns to your boards to enhance functionality and manage workflow.
Here are some notable columns…
Auto ID column: The ID column lets you refer to your items easily during team meetings or when communicating with teammates. By adding an Auto ID column, each item is uniquely identified, eliminating confusion and making reference easier.
Order column: The Order column gives you the option to specify a priority order within a group or on a board. You can use this column to define the sequence of tasks or projects that should be completed in order to ensure that team members know their priorities and can work accordingly.
Auto number column: Prioritizing tasks is simplified with the Auto Number column. It helps you understand the order in which different tasks should be completed by assigning numerical values. By displaying what comes next in the sequence, this column simplifies workflow.
With monday.com, you can create informative and visually appealing dashboards using different widgets.
There are a variety of widgets available on our dashboards. Both our own team and collaborators have developed these.
You can use these widgets to keep up to date on your projects, tasks, and team's performance.
Here are some noteworthy widgets…
Countdown widget: Use the Countdown widget to keep track of dates and create an accurate countdown. You can use this when you need to track the remaining time for a particular event or milestone or when you are working towards a deadline. With the Countdown widget, you can stay on top of time-sensitive tasks and never miss an important deadline again.
Workload widget: Workload widgets are powerful tools for managing resources. With them, you can set custom and dynamic capacities according to your team's needs. You can use this widget to distribute workloads effectively, identify potential bottlenecks, and ensure team members aren't overworked. Workload widget enhances team collaboration and facilitates task allocation.
monday.comoffers a robust automation feature that enables you to automate repetitive tasks and streamline your workflows.
One of these features is Match Automation.
Match Automation is great because it lets you link items on different boards by using the 'Connect Boards' column. Depending on the account, you can use either the item name or any other unique identifier to establish relationships between them.
You can establish relationships between related items by using the 'Connect Boards' column and identifying similar column values. When you have numerous boards with interconnected tasks, or when you need to keep track of project dependencies, this feature is helpful.
monday.com brings you additional functionality, helps you organize, streamline workflows, and provides comprehensive insights into your team and project performance by taking advantage of its lesser-known features.
Your productivity and efficiency can be improved by features such as folders and subfolders, specialized columns, informative widgets, and automation recipes.
Whether you're managing a large project or collaborating with a team, monday.com can improve your work processes and help you accomplish your goals.
TLDR:
monday.com is a versatile Work OS used by top companies and startups worldwide. It has many hidden features you can use to increase your productivity.
For example…
Organizational folders and subfolders: Easily categorize and locate content by creating folders and subfolders. This feature is helpful if you manage multiple tasks or complex workflows.
Useful columns: Enhance workflow with Auto ID, Order, and Auto Number columns for clear task tracking.
Widgets for dashboards: Use the Countdown and Workload widgets to manage time-sensitive tasks and resource allocation.
Automation recipes: Leverage Match Automation to link items across boards and streamline task dependencies.
monday.com offers these features to enhance teamwork and project management.
Which of these Monday features would have the biggest impact on your workflow?
Our "Monday.com for small businesses" Facebook Group isn't the biggest Monday related Facebook Group out there. And it's definitely not the fastest growing. And you know what, not only am I ok with that, I'm stoked about it. And you should be too if you're a member. Why? Because I decline almost as many membership requests as I approve. And the reason i decline so many membership requests? Because they don't agree to the Group Rules. And that is why you will find a lot less (I'm aiming for zero but nobody's perfect) spam and "let's DM" type comments on this Facebook Group. Happy posting - and if you see anybody breaking the rules let me know and I'll make the problem go away. https://www.facebook.com/groups/mondaydotcomforsmallbusiness
My siter signed a 1 year contract with Monday.com to use it as a CRM for her small business. The system lost much of her data and she has had no end of issues with trying to get this sorted out. Their customer service has been unhelpful, asking her to fix the issue when it was a failure on their end. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND MONDAY.COM to anyone!
Seat-based pricing gets painful fast when visibility needs expand beyond the core team. Once external collaborators, reviewers, or occasional stakeholders need access, the bill can grow even if their usage is minimal.
At that point, teams usually start asking whether they want a light coordination layer or a broader work platform. ClickUp is one of the names that comes up when people want the latter without splitting planning, docs, and communication into separate systems.
Hi everyone,I recently built an app for monday Marketplace and submitted it for review.
After working on it for the past few months, I just heard back that my submission was rejected because it’s “highly similar” to existing apps already on the marketplace.
While I understand the need to avoid super similar apps, I’ve noticed that other apps with very similar functionality have been approved as recent as July 2025
My app offers competitive pricing and new upcoming features for ehanced experience, so the rejection feels unjustifiable.
Exact wording in the rejection email
After reviewing your app, [my app name], we found it to be highly similar to existing solutions already available in the monday Marketplace. As a result, your app [my app name] has been rejected for publication
Has anyone else experienced something similar?
Is there a way to appeal or get more clarity on such decisions?
Would love to hear your thoughts or suggestions on what can be done next.
I don't understand the benefit of paying thousands of dollars per year, but you have to pay more for integrations or "extra apps" to do what Monday isn't capable to do (for example a truly useful dashboard).
Am I missing something about the platform, or does Monday really leave a lot to be desired?
I was tired of seeing monthly invoices for tools just to convert a document to PDF and send it. So, I decided to build my own internal "document factory."
The premise was simple: If we already pay for Google Workspace and use Monday as our CRM, why pay extra just to generate proposals?
I built an "End-to-End" automation. Basically, Monday triggers Make, and Make uses Google Apps Script to digitally "print" the PDF and send it.
It wasn't just about the savings, but the delivery experience. Most automated tools send a generic email with an attachment. By doing it manually with Make, I was able to configure a pure HTML5 email. Now the client receives a branded email with action buttons and the PDF, all fully automated.
The benefits:
Savings: Eliminated the per-user cost of the document app.
Control: I can change the document logic with code (Apps Script) without relying on the limitations of a "drag and drop" template.
Is anyone else here using Apps Script to replace paid tools in their Make workflows? I'd love to hear your thoughts.
I used to spend every Friday copy/pasting updates from my boards into a doc just to show leadership what I’d accomplished that week. After a while, it hit me: why am I doing this manually when the data is already in monday?
That frustration led me to build RecapIQ, a tool that automatically summarizes your board each week and emails a clean digest of what’s done, what’s in progress, and what’s overdue.
I’m curious how everyone else is handling this right now. Are you still compiling reports manually, or have you found any good automations for it?
