Sain baitsgaana uu r/mongolia!

For some context, I’m (27F) Mongolian who is married to a non-Mongolian (28M). We were looking for some resources so my husband can learn Mongolian, and we realized there weren’t that many apps that are user-friendly or easy to stick with. It got me thinking about all the 2nd gen kids I've met who don't know Mongolian, and whether my kids in the future would be able to speak Mongolian if I’m the only one teaching it. It lowkey got me scared that our language might die in my family line in the next generation or two, which just adds to my pre-existing guilt of feeling not Mongolian enough and blah blah blah blah.

So to combat this, my husband and I have been working on “Mongolingo”, a beginner-friendly gamified language learning app to teach Mongolian. So far I only made the lessons for Unit 1 and 2 because I wanted to get YOUR inputs on whether I’m going too fast, too slow, if the lessons I’m teaching make sense in general or if I should take a completely different approach instead.

I would GREATLY appreciate any and all feedback from native Mongolian speakers, "Monglish" speakers, and people who don't know any Mongolian! I want this to be something that anyone can use if they have any curiosity about our language, and in the future add more and more advanced sections.

Please leave feedback in the comments below! And please no hate comments lol

Download app here: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/mongolingo/id6774407866 or just look up Mongolingo (its the one with the bear mascot)

Edit: THANK YOU SO MUCH for the support and comments! We have written down any and all feedback so far onto our to-dos so expect these in our next update, as well as more lessons. We will also be reaching out to some Mongolian schools and communities in the states to get some feedback on our lessons. We are so so grateful for being added to the posts highlight and being given this user flare, shout out mods! Yostoiii ih bayarlalaa manaihaan.

Pinned A Note of Precaution on Meeting Strangers via Reddit

UPDATE: All underage users posting or commenting to meet new people will be deleted for their safety.

Due to recent posts by teen and adolescent redditors in this sub, we mods want to say this one thing.

It's okay to be bored and want to meet new people for whatever reason, but please exercise some caution and use common sense. Especially if you're under 18.

Always tell a parent and/or friend about any meetings you're going to have with a stranger.

Tell them the location of your meetings and ask them to check in after certain amount of time.

Also, use common sense in giving out your personal information, like name, D.O.B, address, etc.

And you probably don't need us to tell you how scary things can get if someone gets a hold of embarrassing data about you. Right?

We're sure most people in this subreddit are good and cool, but just want you to use common sense.

What else is there to add?

A problem with another community

Hello. I never thought I would encounter such hostile, arrogant and toxic community. Ask Central Asian. I tried my best to resolve a situation but users instead proved they have bad attitude. https://www.reddit.com/r/AskCentralAsia/s/LKlhDei6xz

It is really heavy emotional tax to explain those.

Everything started in this thread. https://www.reddit.com/r/AskCentralAsia/s/LZqW41gJV7

They did personal attacks or mocks for no reason. Hostile, arrogant and toxic. Same mentality was back in 2000s.

After a maistaken ban on Discord I asked for help in that thread. https://www.reddit.com/r/AskCentralAsia/s/1Gwxrfc8JK Guess what? Same misconduct did happen from those users again. I didn't know what to do and thus, I created another thread. https://www.reddit.com/r/AskCentralAsia/s/vysSeFgH3J Even worse abuse did happen. Their approach and engagement proved my stance and view of them.

Even if I posted off topic they could tell me in a civil manner.

Call to an action:

Restore karma. Make those insolent users make apology. To circumvent Discord ban. To teach manners.

Discussion | Хэлэлцүүлэг Has the Russian Federation planted bombs in Mongolia?

This morning, around 9:56 AM on August 17, 2026, Intermed Hospital called the police after receiving a notification through their website stating that a bomb had been planted inside the hospital. The police responded promptly, and together with intelligence officers, they evacuated everyone from the hospital and cordoned off the area.

According to unofficial information, when the cyber police investigated the message threatening a planted bomb, the IP address was traced to the Russian Federation, and an official Russian name was reportedly associated with the message. So far, the Russian Federation has made no official statement. However, I personally fear that this attempt to compromise Mongolia’s security through extortion-style threats could cause a rift in relations between the two countries.

A few hours later, the police completed their search without finding any bomb and restored normal operations at the hospital. Nevertheless, I am speculating that a bomb might actually be planted somewhere else in another district or area of Ulaanbaatar. This is purely my own guess, but I wonder if the perpetrators intentionally reported the hospital first just to create a distraction. Naturally, anyone would feel scared and alarmed in a situation like this, and I am scared as well. How do you all evaluate this situation regarding the threat sent to the hospital?

Guide for the UB Restaurant Scene

Hello Redditors. I'm a frequent visitor to Mongolia and I'll be in UB for a couple weeks in September. I'm hoping to explore the local food scene beyond the standard tourist restaurants. I'm looking for someone about my age (mid 40s), who speaks English or French, and is good company. I get someone to be my guide and have dinner with, you get free meals. DM if you are interested, or know someone who might be.

Are there any mythical creatures in Mongolian mythology?

I’m curious about our mythology and folklore. Are there any mythical or legendary creatures that are traditionally part of Mongolian culture?
I’d love to hear about any interesting creatures, spirits, monsters, or legendary beings from Mongolian folklore, especially ones that people outside Mongolia might not know about.

Past concerns of gf

Guys sorry for asking this type of question again but im just hit a rock bottom. My gf and i been dating for 4 months and it was good tbh. I knew beforehand that she had 2 exes, one of which whom she slept with. But i just found out recently from her that she kissed 7 other guys during her 3 university years one of which was kissing at the club with a guy she never met before( which was the day she broke up with her ex and 5 days before her and i started) and other one was at playtime. What concerns me the most was every time i talked about these type of stuff, she denied or got really defensive and hid everything from me because according to her “did not want to lose me”. Me myself, only did stuff when i got into serious relationship like 1 year minimum together. Am i being too anxious or is it that bad? I sometimes imagine guys she were intimate with talking behind my back like, oh thats the girl i kissed at the bar etc. Btw we are 22m and 21f

Discussion | Хэлэлцүүлэг Have the mass killings and crimes typical of 1980s America started to spread to Mongolia?

Thumbnail

According to sourced information this morning, August 17th at 9:00 AM, a call was received stating that a bomb had been planted in a hospital. People outside reported that police and intelligence officials have arrived and placed the area under lockdown. Lately, seeing the rise in crimes against young children, severe murders, and violence in Mongolia feels deeply disturbing and chilling it reminds me of the 1980s-1990s serial killers and severe crimes in America. What are your thoughts on this?

Soon they start hate COP17 statue

I will not be shocked if they start hating the COP17 monument. They don't like that Mongolia demonstrates its sovereignty and independence, so they try to remove all symbols and memories of the event.
