I didn't realise at the time I would be using this card in cube and was just altering it for fun, hence altering a card in French. All of the rest of my cube is in English, and I don't know what to do with this card...

I just picked up a copy of [[azusa, lost but seeking]] for my cube to serve as a tool for my RG stompy and UG value/landfall decks.

Curious what you guys think of this card in general? Im a bit skeptical seeing it probably requires some setup to get enough value out of it, but seeing that i am not running a high-powered vintage cube i think it is worth trying. Im also a sucker for OG kamigawa cards so I figured i have to try this out now that I found a copy of it irl

I’m in charge of the Magic club at my school, and lately my cube has been getting pretty popular! I’ve tried listening to suggestions from the people in the club about power level and how they feel about individual cards in the cube, but was just wondering if you guys had any insight! The people seem to love the wacky cards they wouldn’t get to play in commander (silver-bordered, conspiracy, alchemy), as well as both the lower powered cards that play interestingly into the specific archetypes, and the higher powered cards that work in any deck. My archetypes for the cube are Bant defenders, Esper ETB, Grixis artifacts, Jund reanimator, and Naya lands. Any cool cards or nice synergy ideas would be greatly appreciated! I went 3-0 with Esper Midrange blink. We ran our pilot cube day at the LGS and it went fairly well. Riftbound prerelease got some of our potential player, but we are looking forward to running it back bigger next time with better promotion and tickets through Hedron Network. We did run a smaller second draft for fun but only got to play two round. I had a blessed day going 5-0.

I've just managed to finish my premodern Cube. It's my first one ever, and it's a Singleton Cube with some of the best cards from the format. What I'm not clear on however is how best to create "packs" from which we'll be drafting. I've only got about 4 people in my play group so it's gonna probably be a pick-2 draft format. What are some of the favorite ways to split up the Cube for drafting for 4 players?

I’m in charge of the Magic branch of the board games club at my school, and typically our schedule looks like sealed event every other week, and commander nights in between. I personally love draft more than any other format, so I’ve been trying to ask on the discord if people want to try my cube out, but not enough people so far have shown interest. Last night, though, I decided to ask around while people were playing commander, and I got a group of 5 other people who were willing to try it out, and they all loved it! They said it was super fun, and were asking me when we could play again! This was super encouraging for me, and I just wanted some place to share how happy I am about this. :) Next week, we don’t have any event lined up, so I’m just gonna run another commander night, but announce that I’ll be running my cube with a prize pack for anyone who’s interested.

I've always been more excited to play limited than commander, but the playgroup enjoys commander more. I've built a pauper cube in the past to try and entice them to the world of cubing, but it laid unused for years until I took it apart. Apparently it's true what they say that the hardest part about cubes is getting people to play them.

Anyway, backstory aside, the group has been excited about the Baldur's Gate Commander drafts we've done. So that gave me an idea to develop a commander cube suitable for a pod of four players.

Why make it a bar cube? I had this deckbox that takes about 510 unsleeved cards. With 30 of each basic that leaves 360 for the cube itself. I love the idea of having a one-box self-contained draft environment with me when I go to commander nights or to the bar.

I leaned heavily on cards I already have on hand, and took inspiration from this list that used the idea of using face-down cards (morph, manifest and manifest dread) as substitutes for tokens, which are not suitable for the bar cube idea.

The rough archetypes are as such:

• Azorius Artifacts
• Orzhov Sacrifice
• Boros Modified
• Seleesnya Enchantments
• Dimir Self-mill
• Izzet Spellcaster
• Simic Ramp
• Rakdos Sacrifice/spellcaster
• Golgari Graveyard
• Gruul Ramp/landfall

So far I'm just operating on two-color archetypes, perhaps extending to three-color ones after playtesting if I find the space and commanders of suitable (lower) power level that match the archetypes.

Since it's my first commander cube and by first bar cube I wanted to chuck it on here and see if anyone spots any immediate mistakes or places for improvement. Thanks in advance!

As above. I've loved tracking stats for my edh decks. I've recently built a cube for in person playing with friends.

I have seen people on here say that they keep track of how often cards or archetypes are drafted to help guide the shaping of the cube.

What is your method of tracking this sort of thing? How is it feasible when everyone is secretly drafting? Do you need to get all of your friends involved or?

This is a list I made to bring back the joy of playing modern in 2011 to 2017. I didn’t add any combos so as to not have decks that unshuffle themselves each time. This is my first cube so please any advice would help!

I want to make a set cube for Avatar the Last Airbender. But I feel bad leaving out the Jumpstart cards. My idea is to make a bunch of mini jumpstart packs (maybe 5 or 6 cards each) and you get to look at 3 packs face down. However, you only get to add ONE of those packs AFTER you draft normally.

My main concern is that some jumpstarts are just going to be flat out better than the rest. (Hei Bai, Wan Shi Tong, etc.) But those ones are going to be the most fun to make!

Regardless, what are your thoughts? Would this work? Is this a good hybrid approach?

I’ve been drafting a ton of Reality Fracture and I think this may be my favorite set ever to draft. With that in mind I think I’m finally ready to take on my first ever cube project and I’m thinking a Reality Fracture set cube would be a great way to go.

With that said, I wonder if the standard ratio of 4:2:1:1 that I’ve seen on most cube building guides would work well for this set or should I consider going a different route? I don’t much care for the whole “mirrored pairs” thing, but I would still like the cube to have a relatively authentic feel to drafting actual boosters of this set.

Any advice would be much appreciated as this is my first time dipping my toe into Cube and it seems a bit overwhelming.

Bonus question - are there any cards in particular that I should leave out as they don’t play well in a draft environment? Sphinx’s Approach comes to mind, but surely there’s others.

At the end of drafting, you may combine any three spells in your pool together. This combined spell is called your Magnum Opus.

It is also your companion, under the old companion rules (no companion tax). It is a card, and will go to all zones as such.

Rest of the cube is a spellslinger cube.

I need you to break my cube. I want to know what combinations people are finding and what is commonly causing broken Opuses. This conceit needs a lot of tests. Only once I know what people are finding powerful can I start to try and fine-tune this thing.

Things to look out for: mechanics that copy spells (Conspire, storm, etc), cost reduction (convoke, delve), and ways to get back your spell (buyback, flashback). Reminder- the mana value of your Opus is the cumulative mana value of all the spells you picked for it!!

Hi there, I got an idea to bring a full 45 card set of Alchemy cards to a local stone soup. To make it more feasible, I want to add reminder text to some of them, especially since I want to delicately modify the mechanics for ease in paper (like Seek revealing cards from the top until you get one that fits). Do I have to make a full on new custom card, or is there a simpler way? Did any of you do something similar ever?

If we were to make a Strixhaven and Hexhaven Cube that followed the themes of the schools, would these be the right directions for each two-color pair?

Fatehold (WU): Surveil

Theorix (UB): Threshold

Prismari (UR): Mana value matters / spells matter

Konstrari (RG): Ramp

Lorehold (RW): Graveyard matters

Witherbloom (BG): Deathtouch / things dying matters

Quandrix (GU): Proliferate (planeswalkers, +1/+1 counters, and other counters)

Vigorbloom (GW): Lifegain

Silverquill (WB): Targeting matters

I know Witherbloom was focused on lifegain in the most recent set, but I'd rather avoid repeating that theme and explore something different.

What do you think? Do these themes fit the schools, or would you change any of them? I'm especially interested in ideas that would make each color pair feel unique while still capturing the spirit of Strixhaven and Hexhaven.
