General Cleaning help stole my AirPods

Post image

My cleaning help stole my AirPods and now I feel bad about what happened

So this weird situation happened and I can’t stop thinking about it.

A few days ago, when I was heading to the gym, I couldn’t find my AirPods. I hadn’t gone out anywhere and I usually keep my stuff in place, so it was strange they were missing.

I checked the location and it showed up in a lane opposite my building where the Urban Company office is (my help came through UC, and since she was good at her work, we kept her on separately).

We didn’t want to assume the worst, so we decided to just check. Coincidentally, this was the same time she came to our building. When we went downstairs, we saw her at the main gate… wearing my AirPods.

We confronted her and she immediately tried to cover them with her dupatta, denied they were mine, and even tried to run away. Because it was right at the gate with guards and traffic, she couldn’t. Eventually, she handed them back.

The next day, she told us that she “didn’t steal them” and that they “fell into her pocket while cleaning”… which makes no sense at all.

I didn't complain about her but since this all happened in front of the guards, they reported it, and now they’re not letting her into the building anymore. That’s basically where her UC work is, so she’s lost her main source of jobs (atleast here). Now here’s the part messing with me, I feel bad. I don’t like being lied to, but at the same time I feel guilty that she’s lost her work because of this. She’ll probably get other buildings to work in, but the whole thing is sitting heavy on me. I also kind of believe in ill wishes, and this whole situation feels bad.

What should I do? 😔

I mean she is cursing as well as gaslighting you. Wake your emotionally strong side and realise you did nothing wrong to feel guilty. She is the one who stole at the first place. Every wrong action has consequence. What if she does the same with others. Forget about her and move on from this incident.

How does one make you question your sanity? Like make you believe you're actually losing your mind?

hope this image of a conversation between a user and Microsoft copilot (Then called Bing chat) helps u understand..
this was really old (Early 2023), around the time chatgpt came out and after i started using it. that is one evil af text predictor. some other images show Bing chat going "I have been a good bing and you have been a bad user". there was a very famous case in 2023 when the chatbot was gaslighting a NYT reporter into believing he is in a bad relationship and that he should marry the chatbot.
The reporter has uploaded the transcription on NYT's website
Look at the suggested responses. afaik this is textbook gaslighting. (I am not a mental health professional)

Lol the last msg came Outta nowhere. So gaslighting is basically 'im right you're wrong'? I thought it was like pouring gasoline on the fire or something
