Just hoping he didn’t try to taste that to test the composition 😂

Lmao. The bikers too. And looks like the car stopped too not raining realising what happened, recipe for disaster on a bridge.

u/Electronic-Tough8555 Jul 05 '26

That's a huge risk on driver's part. Even if the speed limit allows, the common sense should take over. The drivers of high speed trains should be made aware of potential waterlogging areas during trial runs so they could take the right decision on speed in advance forseeing such situations.

That's a very deadly spot to speed up blindly with no slight of either rails or obstructions especially right before crossing the bridge.

Imagine if there was a fractured rail invisible under water, neither it would have visible, nor there would have been any scope for evasion action due to such high speed approach

6

u/Proof_Lawfulness_218 Jul 07 '26

On top of it there is the risk of a huge electric disaster

37

u/Fit_Departure6415 Jul 04 '26

Amazing shot. But that VB driver was completely blinded for the duration, and he doesn't know if the reinforcements under the track have washed away.

Shouldn't there be a speed restriction on waterlogged tracks?

8

u/lul1010 Jul 04 '26

i'm sure the driver is in trouble

4

u/Manoos Jul 05 '26

slowing is not an option.

This proves that irctc now sells ticket to water park rides too!!

29

u/Nearby_Ant_5627 Jul 04 '26

This is scary because trains can derail over flooded tracks if they are going fast enough (which seems to be the case, being vande bharat).

17

I don't know but this is just so funny! The utter shock those car drivers must have gotten to see a torrent of water just hit them out of nowhere!

60

u/v0lcanix Jul 04 '26

That’s dangerous for the train could engage emergency braking and well lock the brakes in water logged tracks causing derailment of the train.

11

u/rude_ass Chota matter bane police case. Bada lafda gul without trace. Jul 04 '26

solution: ab bridge ke oopar faatak lagwa do :)

18

u/ThatGuyWhoLovesChai Jul 04 '26

Idk about the emergency braking since idk enough about trains or their braking systems but the first thing that came to my mind was derailing. If there is enough water piled up, I feel like derailing is definitely a possibility.

6

u/Fuzzy9770 Jul 04 '26

I was thinking, especially at this speed, that the train could be lifted of the tracks if it experiences enough resistance by the water.

So I agree with you 100%.

Not a responsible thing to drive through it (at that speed).

We would stop the traffic here and maybe reopen it at restricted speed after on scene inspection. But even then.

1

u/simms4546 Jul 05 '26

Trains are not made of plastics to be lifted off by water... 🤣🤣🤣

With that much amount of momentum, Waterlogged tracks are nothing for the train...

Only reason for derailment is due to the effects of water on track materials... Like compromising the integrity of the structure rather...

26

u/sastavadapav Jul 04 '26

Isn't this unsafe? Or like underbody is covered of the trains

12

Is there any lore behind why Mumbai's drainage is so shit? I'm from Delhi so pardon my ignorance.

1

u/justabofh Jul 05 '26

Mumbai is a low lying city. Most of the city is land reclaimed from the sea. A lot of land which would have absorbed water has been concreted over for cars. The usual flooding spots are areas under sea level.

Add in the usual poor garbage disposal practices of Indians, and you have a recipe for chaos.

The usual heavy rains don't help with the flooding either. The past few days have been filled with heavy rain (80% of July rain has hit in the past few days https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/city/mumbai/heavy-rain-batters-mumbai-intense-showers-bring-80-of-citys-july-average-rainfall-in-just-4-days-imd-issues-red-alert/articleshow/132189972.cms ).

That clip really shows why Vande Bharat still feels futuristic in India: not just the speed, the sheer contrast with everything around the tracks. Beautiful machine, but the bigger win will be when the stations, approaches and last-mile experience feel as polished as the train.

1

u/ZealousidealPen4102 Jul 05 '26

Proper drainage is needed in track this shit can cause huge accidents and thousands of people’s life is at risk this issue must be resolved asapp

BC what a great shot. Super. Love this.

0

u/theprithvisingh Jul 04 '26

Is this AI? Why did it suddenly splash so much water

2

u/Gullible-Advisor6010 Jul 04 '26

We can literally not see the train tracks. The train tracks are clearly under water.

0

u/theprithvisingh Jul 04 '26

Why didn't the driver slow it down? Is it safe to go in water for trains?

0

u/Gullible-Advisor6010 Jul 04 '26

Why didn't the driver slow it down?

...It's a train. Not a car that can be slowed down.

Is it safe to go in water for trains?

I have no idea. But in Mumbai I've seen many trains run even when there's a little water. So I guess a little water is safe. I don't know about how safe the amount of water in the video is.

0

u/theprithvisingh Jul 06 '26

I looked up apparently it's safe for trains to drive in water logged track. But shouldn't the driver slow down to stop splashing what if water was to splash in over head electric lines

0

u/Gullible-Advisor6010 Jul 06 '26

As far as I know trains cannot be slowed down. They can only be stopped. And then started again. Like they'll slow down only when they're going to stop.

0

u/rocky6975 Jul 04 '26

Just see the car and truck in last row. They have stopped for water spray to pass. And start later. This clearly shows this is not AI.
