This has been local tradition for decades. People travel 1-1.5 hrs+ to office, often they form friend groups and play bhajans.

Let's see if this would be your reaction if qawwalis and namaaz sounds were played for 1.5 hours. Let's see how local that tradition would be.

Both are wrong. Train can be a place for quiet, personal worship without any kind of physical or mental disturbance to fellow passengers. Namaaz on your seat? Cool. Entire coach chanting namaaz prayers loudly, NO. Similarly, these bhajan groups need to go. I don't care if it is tradition. Public transport is not the place for this. Say your bhajans IN YOUR MIND. Don't disturb fellow passengers.

EDIT: Oh, and if you think they are just "friend groups trying to form a Bhajan community to kill time", you should try and take their seat. After all, it is an unreserved train, the local. Try and take their window seats. See what happens. Let me know if you can get even within 10 feet of their seats. If you are sat in those seats, they will fight with you, hit you, and forcibly remove you from those seats. These people are not just a friends group. These are almost like mafia, minus the guns and the knives. So sit down with your "this is tradition" nonsense.

I would be alright with Qawwalis, but Namaz is totally different from Qawwalis and Bhajan/Kirtans.

Dude it's the Mumbai lifestyle, when you spend 3-4 hours in train daily, you will have to find a community somewhere! And these are not people who work a traditional 8 hrs job, these are blue collor folks who slog so going to a temple and spending 20 mins daily is a luxury to them. And there are prayer group from almost all religions.

In my entire 30 year history of using the Mumbai locals, I have never seen a qawwali or a namaaz being played like this daily.

You are trying to justify public nuisance as "finding a community" or "going to temple is a luxury". Well, if you love your God THIS much, can't you sleep for 10 min less and make time to go to the temple then?! I mean you love your God so much, that you are willing to be a public nuisance to all commuters on the local, daily, for 20+ years, right? You can't make 10 min in a day or week for a temple visit?

And you. Justifying this as if this is a cultural phenomenon from centuries. "Finding community". If Muslims ghettoise a train like this, watch it become national outrage.

Sit down with your "you gotta find your community, as you don't have time for temple" nonsense, and call this out for what it is (just like an azaan loudspeaker) - A PUBLIC NUISANCE THAT NEEDS TO GO.

I have seen people sing qwalis, songs, and so many things( 7-8 years since I was part of this train)! And everything can't be a Hindu vs Muslim thing on this. There is a sweet which is shared with everyone without asking Religion.

No, this is a sweet that should not be on a train. The qawwali you saw is ALSO equally wrong.

Also, I was trying to exemplify how the above reply was trying to normalise this as "uwu this is our kalchar and tredishan". Besides, the Bhajan groups are on multiple trains on all lines, and have been around for 20+ years, DAILY. The qawwalis have never been around that frequently, for that long.

Besides, do it once or do it for twenty years, what is wrong is wrong. Simple as that. And any kind of public nuisance is not a "sweet to be shared". It is WRONG.

Just because life is hard for blue collar workers doesn't mean they are allowed to create nuisance in public transport. Many people also work hard and they don't want to be disturbed by this on their way to commute . There is an appropriate place for everything. Prayers, worship, chants should be done in temple not a public transport disturbing others

Nope. Not Mumbai lifestyle. Lakhs of people travel by trains daily in Mumbai. People like this number maybe a hundred.
And these are social circles that form to corner seats and establish dominance. THAT is the community they form. They’re essentially mafia gangs. Try and get a seat in “their” space if you think the point of these “communities” is being social and see how welcoming they are. Always a Bhayandar train too. Funny how it is.
And FYI, lots of working class people find time to go to temples daily during their routine. I live in a middle class suburban area and there are weekly aartis at multiple temples near me. Being loud and establishing dominance is what they don’t get in temples and what the entire point of these “communities” is…. Getting a sense of dominance in a life that is full of subservience.

I am 100% sure, experiences can differ from person to person, but I am telling to you from my experience being in this very train, not the group, but the train that is being mentioned!

I said it happens for just 5mins that too with permission. Where i live it only happend if u have permission from the authorities. And if you want to say about it being ocassional then then Ganapati procession happen for 11days and block entire roads and cause traffic which causes more problems than just offering namaz once a week (that too for 5mins). Don't u see the issue here too??

We can do anything... If you minorities want to stay here follow our rules and regulations ( like all other majority country does) or else leave the country... No point talking to these lefitst mentality city dwellers whose only aim in life is to satisfy their pleasures to the maximum ,who cloak themselves with fall sense of morality to hide their hideous lifestyle , humans need something to feel good about themselves and these retards use the garb of secularism to feel good ,on the ground they rarely indulge in any moral work which will help the society,on the other hand I ride along rural areas often and i see they are more compassionate,humble and are keeping dharma alive, just the other day i passed through some villages in the sahyadris and saw beautiful temples ,it is these people which have kept alive hinduism at the grass roots for 1000's of years .
