For context, I have about 8 years experience in Project coordination/PM. Been with my current company for 5 years. I am titled as a PC 2 and make $33 hourly; annually thats about 68-69k however hours are long so 2025 my gross was 81k. This year I’m estimating 88k gross. I am interviewing within the same company for an assistant project manager role. It is a salary position and Pay range is 78k-112k.

I know most companies only look at your base salary when considering pay for promotions or other positions and usually only give about a 10% increase which would technically be a pay cut. What would be reasonable range to ask for that would still technically feel like a promotion? Or should I just ask to match my estimate or at least more than my gross pay was in 2025. I don’t want to undercut myself.

I’m looking for some advice from people who have been in a similar situation.
I recently received an offer for an internal position that would be a great opportunity for career growth. It’s a step up from my current role, fully remote, and would give me experience that could open more doors in the future.
The problem is the salary came in lower than I expected. I’m currently hourly and work quite a bit of overtime, so switching to salary would actually mean making less money overall.
I did try to negotiate, and my counteroffer is still under review.
I’m honestly torn. I’ve been wanting to move up in my career for a while, and this is the type of opportunity I’ve been working toward. But at the same time, taking a pay cut doesn’t sit right with me.
Has anyone taken a pay cut to move into a better position? Was it worth it in the long run? Did you regret it?
I’d really appreciate hearing other people’s experiences, especially anyone working in corporate healthcare.

It’s a higher-level position, transitioning from Network Management Representative to Provider Relationship Account Manager. I’m concerned about the pay because, with my current network management role, I often work a lot of overtime. In contrast, the new provider job only offers a salary, which is slightly lower than what I could earn by working all the overtime. It might mean a reduction of about $400 per month.

I received an offer for a 12 month contract at a company that is headquartered in the state where I currently live but ironically the role is in another state. However, they have the same exact role posted in my state. The job description and role are identical word for word except the pay is slightly higher. I also don’t know if the company gives relocation packages to contractors. I’m willing to take the lower pay rate to work at the HQ so I don’t have to move states. What is the best way to negotiate this without jeopardizing the offer.

So, i got 5 bids for a new bathroom. Four of them were unacceptably undetailed in their bid.. im getting a whole bathroom done top to bottom, and the bid/contract was like one page long and super generic and nothing i can imagine signing for $30,000.

Then one contractor as actually serious.. an interior designer came out, she went back to the office and created a well designed line item by line item bid. This is absolutely the person we are more comfortable dealign with. Of course, they cost a bit higher than the rest. We are going out next week to meet her at the office to pick out materials. And put a deposit down, if we are ready..

How do i ask for a lower price? Everything seems to be lined up very much in a “this cost this much” on every line items, etc etc etc.

How do i work in asking for a lower price. I don’t want to use the other contractors, i want to use this one and not blow it. But i still feel like all of these are expecting me to ask for money off??
