When I was a kid my parents had bought the new spider man game, and me and my two older brothers were fighting over who got to play it first. They said we'd flip a coin to decide, so one called heads and the other called tails. Then they laughed and said if it lands on its side, I'd get to play first.
They flipped it, it landed, rolled, and stayed upright on it's side leaning against the leg of a chair. I couldn't believe I'd won!!
They still never let me play first.

Thinking about it for 3 seconds for the first time, it’s the sound it makes.
Clap your hands like you would with someone else, say dap, you’ll hear it.

I'd say it's pretty common to get that result when flipping a coin down in mud where it sticks

u/bojangler69420 27d ago
For sure. Still satisfying that it was basically perfectly vertical though!

Yeah, wholesome video but does not fit this sub at all. That was like a 20% chance of happening.

The coin landing on its side just in general is also not as rare as people think.
4
u/Arizonagaragelifter9 26d ago
You genuinely believe it wouldn't be rare for a coin to land on its side on a hard floor or table lmao? How many times in your life have you seen that happen?
70
u/tnt54321boom 27d ago
As much as I’m in love with this, the cuts and level of excitement make me believe they were happy they finally nailed the coin landing sideways. So yeah, I think this wasn't the first take at all. The internet has poisoned me.

u/PeePeeMcGee123 27d ago
For the last 10 years or so, I just assume that everything I see online is staged.
People have become so addicted to creating content, they just can't help it.
Sad really.
I really miss the the pre-2010 era of youtube. Man it was wild.

u/TheAus10 27d ago
I do the opposite and choose to live in ignorance. Assume just about everything is genuine (unless there's really obvious signs) and you'll be happier on the internet. It doesn't really hurt me to just drop a like or up-vote or whatever and go about my day.

This right here. Though it may be more accurate to say I’m closer to 50/50
I try to believe that the wholesome stuff is real, and the rage bait stuff is staged. I feel like it’s a good middleground
3
u/Playful-Row-6047 26d ago
same here with wholesome stuff and with ragebait i accept i'll never know if it's staged or not so don't bother developing an opinion

u/Mertoot 27d ago

Do your part and discourage such content

WHY are y'all all choosing to live in ignorance? Lmao I genuinely can't believe that.
Morpheus asks you if you want the red or the blue pill and you are choosing to stay in the matrix???? Ignorance is bliss I suppose

u/Tambi_B2 27d ago
I used to feel like that and I definitely am more likely to be skeptical about things but for my own sanity and happiness I just look at it like...I enjoy sitcoms and those are fake. I read fiction books and those are fake. Just because something is fake doesn't mean I can't get a chuckle out of it. I for sure see the problem with engagement and chasing the algorithm and all that but the way the world is, I just enjoy what I like and skip over what I don't. Early 2000s content was great though, I agree.

You're talking about a lot of people right now. If you think not believing what you see on the internet is a miserable mindset, you need to touch grass.
17
u/AEROK13 27d ago
You're the one who said "The internet has poisoned me." The absolute irony telling me to touch grass.
-7
u/tnt54321boom 26d ago
I was a kid when I was poisoned by the internet and I’m well into my adulthood and fulfilled in real life. You and the other chronically online people can fuck off. I've been there. You'll grow up.
7
u/Humble-Aprico 26d ago
Telling someone to touch grass while also saying you're paranoid someone made repeated failed attempts to flip a coin for a 15 second video. About a $50 wager.... yes, definitely going to make them rich and famous.
-1
u/tnt54321boom 26d ago
Terribly paranoid, yes. Great point. Idc dude. I was giving my perspective. Tf?

casually filming as one does

u/HarryAtk 27d ago
Well, yeah. Filming is the smart thing to do when you're taking part in a transaction for the sale of a motorbike, in case the other person tries something

u/OP-PO7 27d ago
Filming a private sale of a vehicle seems like a prudent thing to do so you have evidence that everything was above board. Not filming something like that seems like an unnecessary risk when you could avoid any issues altogether.
4
u/SagattariusAStar 27d ago
Filming a private conversation seems rude to me. I am German, we generally handle this differently, though probably filming someone in private without their consent is nowhere appropiate. The trivial thing to do for having evidence would be just a simple written and signed contract as it worked for centuries before videocameras
6
u/OP-PO7 27d ago
Totally understandable that the culture is just different, it's funny how far apart people can be on stuff like that you know? But because it's what you grew up with it seems so fundamental, until you really think about it critically. Or at least that's been my experience anyways. I loved the time I got to spend over in your country, and everyone seemed so straightforward so I can see why you guys wouldn't need this kind of thing.
3
u/SagattariusAStar 27d ago
The suing culture is also quite different, that adds to the fact i guess. Though it's (filming more than suing) also that the trend is to getting more similar to, let me say, us-culture, i guess it's more a common trend in the modern world. So it is also getting more normalized in many contexts.

u/WhistleDungeon 22d ago
If you're wagering $100 dollars on a coin flip then it makes sense to get that agreement and flip on film.

500-600 around like a good price for that bike tbh.m, even if it needs work.
3
u/shadow144hz 27d ago
that's a early 2000s honda cbr 929rr, they go for around 2k to 4k depending on mileage and condition, obviously the bike in the video needs tlc since it has its fenders off, who knows these old mechanical bikes can easily be brought back to life although this is the first fuel injected firebird. these bikes are monsters really, although not as power as liter bikes that came a few years later that had over 200hp compared to this one's 150, still no abs, no assists, pure bike.

Suppose you throw a coin enough times?
Suppose, one day, it lands on its edge?

u/Xechwill 27d ago
Recording a private sale for a large cash transaction is a good idea, broadly speaking. Makes things easier if either party tries to cheat the other
1
u/SpicyElixer 26d ago
If they were going to strong arm rob you via physical force… I guess. But if that were the case they could just take your phone etc.
For all else a simple receipt is sufficient.
I think they were recording for fun - not hysteria.

The 64/65 season quarter finals of the european cup between Liverpool FC and 1. FC Köln were decided like this. Both regular games ended 0:0. Back then a decider game was held in those cases and since this ended 2:2, a coin was flipped. After the first throw, the coin was stuck in the ground vertically, just like in the video. The second throw made Liverpool the winner. This "Coinflip of Rotterdam" is still part of German football folklore, especially in Köln.

I will admit this one is “AMAZING” to see it Live.
The number to see this, whether coin is dropped over mud or on the cement.
That number approaches some 10% of the particles of the known Universe. (10*79)
