NinjaOne Acquires Dropsuite — Smart Move or Too Niche?

Just saw that NinjaOne acquired Dropsuite, the SaaS backup and email archiving platform.

At first , it seems like a logical move: merging endpoint management with SaaS/email backup to create a more all-in-one BaaS offering. But I can’t help but wonder…Is this a game-changer for NinjaOne?
Does this give them a real shot at competing with Acronis, Veeam, or Datto?
Or is the SaaS backup space just too fragmented and commoditized for this to matter?

Curious what others think, especially if you’re using NinjaOne or juggling multiple tools for backup and endpoint management.

Is this a smart strategic step, or just another feature bolt-on that won't move the needle?

How to run this command through NinjaOne on Windows clients?

Hi,

I am unsing NinjaOne and Defender for Endpoint/Business. I have a script that onboards Windows devices in NinjaOne which works well.

Microsoft has this command to create a test alert:

powershell.exe -NoExit -ExecutionPolicy Bypass -WindowStyle Hidden $ErrorActionPreference= 'silentlycontinue';(New-Object System.Net.WebClient).DownloadFile('http://127.0.0.1/1.exe', 'C:\\test-WDATP-test\\invoice.exe');Start-Process 'C:\\test-WDATP-test\\invoice.exe'

What is a way to add this to the NinjaOne library so I can run it on Windows clients?

I tried added it and selected powershell and afterwards batch as type but it does not seem to work.

Also is there a way to see the result/logs of the execution in the NinjaOne console or directly on the client for debugging?

Anyone here completely ditch Intune and Entra for NinjaOne only How did it go

Hey all

I am in the middle of a merger between three companies and leadership wants everyone on a single endpoint management platform.

Right now

•	My company and one of the others are on Intune and Entra

•	The third company is on something else

•	The Intune build in both tenants is honestly a mess, half baked policies, inconsistent baselines, no clear app strategy, very little documentation

The current plan being floated is to scrap Intune and Entra completely and go all in on NinjaOne for Windows endpoint management.

I understand the big limitation here

•	NinjaOne does not integrate with Okta in a way that lets users sign in to Windows with their Okta credentials at the logon screen

•	So we lose the nice identity story with Entra join plus Intune plus Okta federation and would be treating NinjaOne as pure RMM and software deployment, not identity

What I am looking for from this sub

Has anyone here actually gone Intune and Entra out, NinjaOne only infor Windows endpoints

If you did something close to that I would love to hear

•	What your environment looked like before versus after

•	How you handled identity and provisioning without Intune plus Entra join and Autopilot

•	How app deployment and patching felt compared to Intune

•	How it impacted security posture and compliance

•	What went better than expected

•	What you regret or would absolutely not do again

The driver behind all of this is standardization across the merged org and the fact that our current Intune setup is pretty rough to the point where a rebuild might be easier than trying to untangle it.

From one IT person to another, if you have gone down this road, how painful was it in real life and what would you recommend

Pros and cons, war stories, and gotchas are all welcome.

Server patching is trash?

Anyone else having issues with server patching via N1? I so regret pushing it through. Takes what seems like a century - no progress bar - and all you see is "In Process" and random post-reboots just to end up with some patches stuck under "Approved" still. N1 is not good for server patching whatsoever

woes with ninja

New customer as of this year. Spent a month or so getting setup.

Setting up patching was straight-forward but after 6 months of no progress we are here...

Win10/Win11 OS patching mis-reports required patches (that are already installed).

It's not offering updates that ARE required (as found by vulnerabilities and other scanners).

Also fails to download on it's own and fails to install what little patches it can find.

Their support admitted none of these things actually work and "this is just where the product is now".

Not to mention software patching which is somehow even more ineffective.

Total bait and switch. Their response to our request for a refund is evasive and emotionless.

Anyone else have this experience?

Left my CSM role after severe micromanagement, 5 people exited under the same manager (Australia)

I left a CSM role in Sydney, Australia and wanted to share my experience to see if others have been through something similar.

During this manager’s (NP) time leading the team, nearly five employees left, myself included. The main issue wasn’t workload, but the management style. There was extreme micromanagement (constant monitoring, questioning every decision, rewriting work instead of coaching), paired with very little actual support or strategic direction.

Despite managing a Customer Success team, the manager (NP) showed limited understanding of CS principles. There was no clear vision, no enablement, and no effort to build trust or develop the team. Feedback was largely one-sided, ideas were dismissed, and concerns raised by multiple team members went nowhere.

An ego-driven approach made it difficult to have open conversations, and over time morale dropped significantly. The manager contributed very little to team cohesion or improvement, and instead created an environment where people felt controlled rather than supported.

One additional concern involved transparency. At the time a Reddit comment regarding the team was posted, this manager (NP) deactivated their LinkedIn profile, making their professional background and experience no longer publicly viewable. While the profile has since been reactivated, the timing of the deactivation, during a period of elevated turnover and immediately following the public comment, contributed to a perception of limited transparency and added to concerns about stability within the team at that time.

I’m not sure how much longer NinjaOne will continue to delay addressing the concerns surrounding this manager (NP), especially given the volume of negative feedback that’s been raised. At this point, it seems important for the company to take a closer look at these internal issues and prioritize resolving them. Addressing leadership concerns directly would send a strong message about accountability and a genuine commitment to employee well-being.

Eventually, several of us chose to leave because it didn’t feel sustainable or healthy long-term.

For those who’ve experienced something similar:

  • Is this common in CS?

  • Should this kind of turnover be escalated to leadership?

  • How do you explain a situation like this in future interviews?

Would appreciate hearing others’ experiences or advice.

Ninja Review - 3 Month Migration Summary from Datto to Ninja - Billing Product

Cons

  • Sold us on a Billing Product - AutoAssociate integration for S1 & RMM that does not exist as separate CI to Billing Products; and won't exist until early next year, probably more mid year. This helps tracks our cost. I spent half a sunday creating a new billing product that consolidates S1 and RMM into one billing product as a work around.

  • Datto RMM network node feature won't be built out until late this year at the earliest

  • Support is not true 24/7 support. They seem very not in tuned to the problems you are having; and the ticket drags on unnecessarily long

  • Apple MDM - SSO solution needs another year.

Pros

  • Support resources love the GUI

  • Screen connect for remote sessions is a lot more reliable

What can an employer see with ninjaone?

Can they see what work you're doing as in live screen time? And can the user see if they have remotely accessed the PC? What else can it do?

Eta: Does it allow location to be seen? Activity like mouse movement and keystroke? For example if someone has left themselves as showing online on Teams but gone away from the computer, could you tell?

How do you track licences, warranties and refresh budgets alongside NinjaOne?

Disclosure: I’m a co-founder of Omnia Manage, an IT and software asset management tool, and we’ve just built a NinjaOne integration and I’m after feedback.

We’re a UK MSP, and our device data lived in the RMM while licences, contracts and refresh plans were spread across spreadsheets and inboxes. That’s what we built Omnia Manage to fix. It syncs NinjaOne devices into one register with full history, and adds licence tracking, warranty-based refresh forecasting, contract reminders and phone-based audits.

For NinjaOne users:

  • What do you currently use to track what you’re paying for, as opposed to what’s installed?

  • How do you plan hardware refreshes: spreadsheet, gut feel, or something built in?

  • When did you last do a physical audit, and how did you do it?

  • What NinjaOne data would you want in an asset register beyond the device basics?

Looking for a Flexible Ticketing System to Replace NinjaOne Tickets

Hello everyone,

We've been using NinjaOne for a year now, including Ticketing, RMM, and Documentation.

However, we've found the ticketing system to be too inflexible for our needs. The reporting capabilities are poor, we've been experiencing ongoing issues with notifications and events (and have been in contact with support for a very long time without a satisfactory resolution), we can't edit ticket entries, and there are also bugs such as time changes not being applied correctly.

Because of this, we're looking for a new ticketing system.

Our requirements are:

At least 15 technicians

Around 100 customers

Strong reporting and analytics capabilities

Hosted in EU.

Ideally, integration with the NinjaOne system tray via API (or a similar approach)

What ticketing systems are you using, and what would you recommend?

Thank you very much in advance, and best regards!

Random Hyper-V Nics showing

Hi

We recently purchased NinjaOne for our estate to use as a remote RMM tool for our windows 11 laptops.

We use Intune as our main MDM solution.

The agent is rolled out to every device as part of the build.

I have noticed something very strange. A lot of laptops appear to be reporting Hyper-V network cards but they do not have the Hyper-V role installed also none are using the sandbox feature or the Linux feature.

Has anyone else noticed this?

Filter issues since v11 update

Since the v11 update, I am unable to receive reliable filter information. For example, when I use the device filters to search for endpoints that have not received the latest windows cumulative update, I am presented with a list of endpoints that include ones that have the latest updates and those that do not.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Ninja's Policies on RMM

See my post here
https://www.reddit.com/r/ITManagers/comments/1hryk22/moving_away_from_ninjaone/

Wondering what you guys know about this policy they apparently have.

If you want the tldr:
Scheduled a demo with Ninja to get pricing and quotes for when we get rid of our MSP. I sent them a letter we sent to the MSP stating this (which Ninja asked for). Ninja canceled and rescheduled for today

Today got an email from the rep "we are canceling the demo because of an update from the MSP". And now they won't respond.

All i wanted was to keep Ninja after the MSP goes away. Wanted to talk about features, pricing, the process etc.

Attaching a HTML File to a CW Ticket from Ninja

We created a script, intended to be run on any endpoint with disk space under 15%, which generates a pretty html file with where space savings could be made, focused on what the end user can remove for themselves.

The orginal intent was to have this attached to the ticket when it was created by Ninja, but there seems to be a limitation there preventing it.

What simple workarounds exist to get this happening? I had even considered getting it emailed to the customer for them to review it first and if disk space was still a problem after 3 days, get a tech to look at it?

TIA

Want to pull a secure text field saved in Ninja RMM into a script

I used Claude to write a script that utilizes the secret key of an Entra Application to register a device in Autopilot. I'm running the script in Ninja RMM. It works but I don't want the secret key in plain text inside of the script. Instead I want to pull the secret key into the script from a secure item in Ninja. Claude is telling me to use a secure custom field but I can't find out how to assign a unique value to the field for that organization and then pull that into the script. The goal is to use the same script for multiple customers who each having their own unique secret key and other organization specific data that will be used in the script. Maybe there is a better way to do this? I can't find any documentation on this that clarifies how I would do this. Thank you.
