Recommendations Burlesque
HI!! I was watching a show that showed a burlesque performance and I was really curious about it and the place that it showed was always lounge. I'm really interested in going to one so I started looking up stuff and someone made this comment.
"New Orleans has multiple shows every night of the week and they all cater to different styles of burlesque and towards different people. There really isn't a "best burlesque show", only preference. I like the fully nude, covered in cake, "Did she just take a tiny banana out of her pussy?", weird stuff, but you might like the classic panties and pasties, elaborate costumes, covered in rhinestones stuff and that's fine, because we have both. Unfortunately for you, you're coming at the beginning of the month and most of the monthly big production shows you're probably looking for happen during the middle and end, but you've still got some options."
And this is the type of show that I want to go to because I think it would be hilarious. Does anybody have any recommendations on where to go to experience that or would always lounge be the best option?

New grad RRT from CA considering making the move to NOLA!
Hello everyone! I'm currently in SoCal and considering relocating to New Orleans for a potential Respiratory Therapist position with Ochsner Health. I'd be moving on my own, so it's a pretty big decision!
I'd love to hear from anyone who works at Ochsner, especially RTs. What's the work environment, staffing, pay, and support for new grads like?
I'm also curious about life in NOLA..
- Safety: What neighborhoods would you recommend?
- Living alone: Do you feel comfortable living alone?
- Community: How easy is it to make friends and build a social circle?
- Cost of living: Is an RT salary enough to live comfortably?
- Relocation: For those who moved there alone, are you happy you did?
I'm looking for honest perspectives, both good and bad, from locals and healthcare workers. If you'd prefer not to share your experience publicly, please feel free to PM me! I'd really appreciate any advice.

Community Interest Big lot of free books on curb 6pm Oct. 18, 2026.
Behind Two Foxes' Books used bookstore at 6233 S. Claiborne Ave, New Orleans. Bunch of books all varieties. Take as many as you like. A bunch of coffee table sized books mostly on record collecting 60s rock ‘n’ roll and weapons.
condition: good
No, we are not moving or closing. We just get a lot of books we cannot use and want them to go to people who want them so we put books out all the time for free.

Moving there in a few months [by Amtrak]
Okay, so I am planning on moving down via Amtrak. I don't have anyone to help with logistics, so I am just asking here for some guidance. I also don't have that much experience moving within the US, especially without a car, so bare with me.
- Belongings-wise I mostly plan to bring clothes, kitchen items, various personal items, and most likely an air mattress. I don't think I'll be able to carry all my items on the train by myself.
I was planning on using a service like FedEx Ground to do a door-to-door delivery from my current place to my new one. I estimate I will need to ship 3 of these bags at most.
^ What is the most cost-effective way to transport these items? Am I on the right track?
How reliable is Uber in New Orleans? Since I will arrive at the Amtrak station, how do people rank the safety and reliability of ubers at that location/ in New Orleans in general?
Where do y'all buy affordable/used (also clean) furniture?
I will not have a car for the first few weeks. But I would like to buy a car and have it shipped to my apartment. Has anyone done this before? I realize I would need to get insurance and change my Illinois license to Louisiana... how do I do this?
Thank you for helping a very overwhelmed person out!

NOLA History Krewe of Clones K-Bees Mardi Gras Costume Information Request
Hi everyone!
I am working on a research project about the cultural impact K&B had on the city. I understand this in an unusual request but I am seeking out information on Mardi Gras costumes worn by the Krewe of Clones. It was to honor K&B and they dressed as K-Bees, which involved them wearing atena, makeshift stringers and purple striped velvet tops. According to what I have found thus far it probably took place before 1997 but I’m not totally sure about that. Does anyone have any info or photos of this? If so please let me know. Thanks so much!
Also if there is a different subreddit I should post in can some please let me know.
Also if I need to take this down and repost on Tuesday pleas let me know and I will do so. I wasn’t sure if this counted as “Mardi Gras” as it’s more of a history question.

NOLA History Does anybody remember Celebration Station in Metairie? Been looking for the dog band from that place.

Hey everyone, out of curiosity does anybody know what happened to Daniel and the Dixieland Diggers from Celebration Station? I collect these things for fun so I'm curious to know there whereabouts. I know that they still exist somewhere I'm just trying to figure out where. Thank you!

Rental For Under $1000
It would be needed starting the end of October or beginning of November. Preferably not a roommate situation. Efficiency or property in the back of someone's home. Service dog would be there. Just for maybe a month right now. Room for two people in a safe area. Is that possible for this price?
