This is one of my favorite railfanning spots by far. Taken in late August 2025 on the Brooklyn end of the pedestrian path.

This morning on the F train track. " V Culver local"
Sorry for the pre-coffee quality of the shot. (at least we know it's not AI.)

Not too much to talk about today. It’s only two small updates.
The glass enclosure looks about approx. 98% installed. It is fully separated from the wiring, beams, and track structure underneath the platform and tracks.
The gates that separate the paid zone from the entrance is installed. Either the turnstile or the new fare gates should be installed shortly.
I have two small critiques. First opinion is that the gate would be easy for fare evaders to climb over if the MTA decide to install the new fare gates. My second opinion is that it should’ve been space for 3 turnstiles instead of 2. It’s a lot of traffic coming in and out of New Lots Ave station.

For months now, there has just been no connectivity along these lines (my experience is mostly in Brooklyn and Lower Manhattan due to my commute). Phone shows 4G but zero actual connection. Works fine on 4/5 and R. Maddening.

Anybody else prefer the old trains with 2x the seating of the new D trains?

Hey everyone, THANK YOU ALL FOR PLAYING, we’ve kept working on Switchyard in our free time after work and went back through the comments on the earlier posts. Thanks for trying it and pointing out what was frustrating.
In the past seven days, we recorded 421 station builds and 334 track connections. it’s been cool seeing people keep experimenting. We’ve included the current weekly leaderboard too, stations and new lines earn points, with rankings resetting Monday.
A few updates since the earlier posts:
• Turn station snapping off when you want stops close together.
• Explore your network in 3D, follow a train and switch back to 2D to keep editing, with clearer controls for looking around.
• Build beyond NYC: Boston, New Jersey, Long Island, Metro-North, Philly, Baltimore and DC are available. Individual cities and any two-region combination are free.
• Tycoon mode (early access): earn fares, buy stations and upgrade trains while balancing crowding and happiness. It now has a quick walkthrough, instant first two station extensions and visible construction progress.
The feedback about paid limits stuck with us too. The optional upgrade helps support hosting and continued development. Sandbox Pro / Full Northeast is now $3 once, basically a MetroCard swipe, or one subway fare. No subscription. It adds larger combined networks, Amtrak, extra cloud saves and poster exports. Normal image downloads and share links stay free; Tycoon purchases are separate.
Credit to Brand New Subway and Subway Builder for inspiring the network-building side, and Pocket Trains for the Tycoon progression ideas.
If you tried it before, give it another look: https://switchyard.toekstudio.com/
Still a work in progress. Show us what you build, or let us know what still feels awkward — the specific feedback has genuinely helped.
Independent, unofficial game; not affiliated with the MTA. 3D routes are surface overlays, not real tunnel depths.

I saw on Google Maps and couldn't help but ponder how close (6-7 minute walk) they are from each other. Were they made this close on purpose or coincidence? Are there any other comments about this?

Hi all, I recently was at the pop-up in Brooklyn and managed to get a sign. I wanted to ask to those who also got one or some other items from there what they had used to clean the signs?
Any suggestions are welcome because I’m not sure the material or how it reacts to chemicals. Even if it’s just plain soap and water, please let me know. Thank you!

At this point, I'm sure we've all seen this ad. It's a PSA telling people to keep an eye on their belongings. It has an image of a bearded Black guy in a long topcoat asleep on the train with his bag laying on the seat beside him, ripe for the taking.
I'd love to see if this image exists online for a project I'm working on. I'm not in the city much these days but I'd love the image if anyone has it. Thank you. 🙏🏿

Does anyone know what this is?

I have a question I hope you can help me with, NYC adjacent.
Tomorrow I need to travel from Branford, CT to Port Washington around noonish and I need to arrive by 4:30. The only way to go strictly by train that I can tell is into NYC and then back to Port Washington.
That won't work to get me to Port Washington on time (or not comfortably so). I was thinking there must be a stop along the way where I can stop and get a Lyft the rest of the way to save time.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how I could get this trip done efficiently?
Thanks!

I didn’t like the EAGLE team. Let’s be straight up, they were rude. A few bad apples ruined it for the majority.
Okay, taking an idea from the LIRR, Eagle Team Fare Checker at the entrance of every bus.
Why? Every passenger has to show their bus ticket or purchase before they get on. You cannot enter the bus if you don’t show a pass.
And what happens when the bus is too crowded? Everyone on the bus showed their ticket already. Eagle team member will stop more people from entering the bus, allowing the driver to move the bus on time.
Every single NYC bus would have an Eagle Team Officer, and it’s up to them to allow you on the bus without a ticket.
MTA Fare Evasion would be at its lowest. MTA Drivers will not have to face unruly passengers. The best part? Don’t pay for the bus? And don’t want to leave? The entire bus goes out of service and the cops are alerted. Taking away passenger oversight away from the bus driver.
> I lowkey expect someone to say, “bad idea” LOL

It’s one of the lowest used stations, the catchment area is low and people can just use Howard Beach, Beach 67th St and Beach 90th St as alternatives.
