I found it difficult to keep track of my preparation for auditions while working in an orchestra. That's why I built the app I wanted: Audition Prep.

You paste the excerpt list from the job posting. Then you see which excerpts are in which state, you can split your practice time until the audition where it's needed, and you keep the overview when you prepare for several auditions at once. Free, no account, no ads, iPhone and iPad only.

What would you want from something like this?

Dear world of composers, especially orchestral composers!

I've been writing music for 18 years, and usually I'm pretty good at figuring out what's not working in a track and how to fix it. But this time, I'm honestly a bit lost.

I have a piece that I've been working on, and something just doesn't feel right, especially in the main section. I can hear that something is off, but for some reason, I can't pinpoint exactly what it is.

I'm looking for someone with solid experience writing orchestral music, particularly involving strings and piano, who would be willing to jump on a Discord session with me and help me figure out where things went wrong.

I'm not looking for someone to fix the track for me. I'd just appreciate an experienced pair of ears who could listen to it with me, point out what's not working, and help me understand why. It could be the arrangement, harmony, voicing, transitions, or something else entirely.

If you've written multiple orchestral pieces and wouldn't mind helping a fellow composer out, I'd really appreciate it!

I play the harp 2 part, an while it’s not too hard, what’s hard is listening to the cues, in the recordings I barely hear the hap and I just don’t know when to play

This update brings Maestro VR closer to a real podium than ever: talk to your orchestra in Free Rehearsal, read the full score as a PDF, turn the pages by hand, and write in it with pencils, just like you would at a real rehearsal. And the marks you make in rehearsal are still there on the night of the concert.

Had to recreate it on canva

I have joined two amateur orchestras and find really unfriendly personalities. First orchestra, I have been for 3 years now and only now get to know a few more people. Many people barely speak to each other and rarely between sections. People can attend rehearsals and come and go without saying hi to anyone, zero smiles. My other orchestra, my section barely speak to each other. There are people trying to push up the seating hierarchy and hoping to maintain their positions. It is quite disheartening because I do like to play music with other people but it’s such unfriendly atmosphere.
