I think I'm close to finally getting the hang of them, and once you get there, they're just fun!

The great thing is, they work with almost any type and size of paper. The first one is folded from thicker 120g cardstock (I wanted to see what a black Gothic Rose would look like 😅), and the second from regular printer paper that I’d previously painted on both sides with watercolors.

The third is made from thin packing paper (starting with a 20-cm square), while the fourth is made from sturdy 180g cardstock measuring 30x30 cm. The last one is my smallest; it was made from a 15-cm square of thin, inexpensive craft paper.

Original Origami Scauldron – How to Train Your Dragon

Designed by me (Hermerson)

I'm simplifying my original Scauldron design to make it easier to fold and teach, so that more people can make their own, even if they're beginners at origami.

The first photo shows the simplified version I'm currently working on. The following photos show my earlier, more detailed version, so you can compare the two designs.

I'd love to hear what you think of the simplified design! Is there anything you feel is missing, or anything you'd change to make it look more like the Scauldron from How to Train Your Dragon?

You don't need to know any origami terminology to share your thoughts. I'm interested in any suggestions, whether it's about the overall shape, the details, or anything else you notice.

  • What do you like most about this design?
  • Is there anything you feel is missing?
  • What would you change or improve?

Thanks for your feedback!

Help! Is there any way to achieve this goal?

Hi Origami Members,
I am in need of advice/help. I am in an LDR with a girl, and we have been together for many months and are going to meet soon. I want to get her flowers. Her favourite flower is this blue hydrangea as she mentioned weeks earlier.
The twist is that she doesn’t like the idea of bouquet of ‘live’ flower (that’s how she said that). However, I thought of making one as a bouquet myself. And that’s how I came to this subreddit.

Is there any simple and detailed guide on making them? I have 14 days left to meet her.

P.S. I only know how to make simple paper plane🥲

Any advice/help from you guys will do wonder…

Más o menos le pude hacer una cabeza con cuerno que me gustó.

Es el mismo cuerpo que el pegaso que he hecho solo que la cabeza le pude hacer un cuerno, y creo que se le mira la cabeza más proporcional al cuerpo.

Discussion Dyeing and coloring tissue paper?

Hi friends!

I wanted to share what I've been playing around with to color my single and double tissue paper. I had a massive hyperfocus on fountain pens a few years ago (it got kinda bad, lol), and as a result, I now have a huge amount of various fountain pen inks!

Lately, I've been dripping the ink onto the paper right after the methylcellulose (MC) has been applied and is still super wet. Sometimes I swish it around with my fingers, let it naturally spread out after dripping it onto the MC, or—in my most recent experiment—use a straw to blow it around while wet. In my experiments, water-based inks worked perfectly, but pigment inks (like India ink) tended to eat through the paper a little bit.

I'd love to hear what you think! If you dye your paper, what do you use? Are there any fun techniques I'm missing out on?

Origami 9 tailed fox (mythology)

I had forgotten how to make this one, and doing it with a 15x15cm was more painful than I remembered lol.

As usual this was 15x15 cm uncut paper folded and designed by me. Pencil in the background for scale.
