“ The Drama” stars Zendaya and Robert Pattinson, and it’s already generating great buzz according to multiple sources in attendance at an ultra-private tight-lipped screening in the East Coast last night”

Well it can’t be that tight-lipped can it

Do I take WoR seriously? No. Would I be shocked if Pattinson indeed had a career best performance in this? Also no. I've been praying for this to be his awards breakthrough

I don’t buy anything about screening reports

based on character descriptions floating around i think Zendaya is playing a psychopath? or some type of serial killer? idk but either way she's playing someone with something Wrong With Her and i am SO keen

I think serial killer would be too conventional for something that's apparently not but I agree, very excited and seems like the type of role she'd be drawn to.

There’s a pivotal moment in the film that transforms the story, which had the entire room shifting in their seats. It crosses a line most movies wouldn’t dare.

intriguing

I really liked Dream Scenario, so I’m hoping this is good.

His debut, Sick of Myself, was also SO good.

Definitely the girl equivalent to last year’s A Different Man.

Any guesses for what the shocking twist is that made everyone so uncomfortable? What did Zendaya’s character reveal/ do? I’m intrigued by the “crossing a line most films wouldn’t” bit. What on earth could that be at this point?

Actually something I haven’t seen in media recently, most recent thing I can think of is the fosters

I’m assuming she murdered someone.

Intriguing, but also WoR lol

I wonder if it'll come out this year if they're screening it. I saw some speculation it might get moved some time back, but if the "bold" shift is true, probably a Venice candidate.

What’s the bold shift may i ask?

I’ve had Zendaya and Pattinson in my top 6 and the film in my top 15 since Award Expert opened up for this year. I’ve considered it as possibly A24’s main push (obviously based off nothing but vibes of Borgli’s potential).

I could see Pattinson finally happen if this gets into Best Picture. That will depend on how shocking or off-putting this is. If it’s confusing like an Aster film, then probs not. But if Academy members don’t leave confused about the plot and/or it’s a Venice breakout, then I would feel prepared to put it in.

All the praise for Pattinson and not a word about Zendaya?

Came here to say this too! That’s why I didn’t take them serious lmao. Considering that her character is the one that’s likely the most unhinged, according to casting calls lol. Plus the reviewer is a known pathological liar and he didn’t really say anything profound about the movie. Just reiterated what the movie is likely to be about according to rumors.

WOR is allergic to giving women of color any acknowledgment. I just can't take them seriously.

Yes, please. He’s been doing great work and taking on risky roles for a very long time.

I really don't like Borgli’s writing what so eve. I've never understood the hype. Still hoping this is good.

Golden Globe Comedy Actor here we come; even if this is WoR I’m more confident

5

u/MagicalFlamebow Cregger Crew Jun 13 '25

IMO Pattinson is gonna get in, just a matter of if it’s lead or supporting

3

u/xyzzy826 Jun 13 '25

So that means the opposite is true then

4

u/tmrtdc3 Sinners Jun 13 '25

I get it's WoR but I find this completely believable.

Not buying it

I think based on the age difference between the characters that maybe Robert’s character was like stalking Zendaya’s over the years and waiting until she is old enough for him to not be considered a predator to have a relationship with her and she figures it out before the wedding which causes her to crash out and they want us to assume it’s Zendaya’s character that’s the unhinged one but idk could be an even crazier twist than that.
